League of Women Voters Endorses Health Reform, Launches “Stand Up to the Lies”

At the urging of its members, the non-partisan League of Women Voters has endorsed Democratic efforts to pass health insurance reform, and is running a 30 second ad, “Stand Up to the Lies,” in Maine, North Dakota and Arkansas from October 14 to 28th.

In a press release, League president Mary G. Wilson said:

“Health care reform is a critically important issue for Americans – an issue that requires action from all of us. After watching opponents of health care reform repeatedly attempt to scare people with lies and disorderly conduct, the League decided that we must speak up.

“This is an unusual step for us. But as a non-partisan membership organization that believes in reasoned and civil debate we felt compelled to take a stand against the lies and the distortions. We know our modest buy is a drop in the bucket compared to the vast resources being spent by special interests, but we also know that our message is shared by countless, everyday Americans.”

Women are disproportionately affected by our broken health care system. In many states, insurance companies are allowed to discriminate on the basis of gender. One recent study found that a 25-year old woman is charged 45 percent more than a 25-year old man for the same coverage, and thousands of women have been denied coverage because of so-called "pre-existing" conditions, like having had a C-section or a previous pregnancy. You can watch the LWV's adhere.

It's all about equality under the law. Insurance companies must realize that women are the largest growing demographic and voting block.

Women will exert considerable more power in the future and their incomes are growing even as male education and incomes decline. Treating women like a minority will only make the reckoning-to-come harder for those that chose profit over making the customer happy.

We don't need more NOT republicans(Bush Thinking RINO Party people)which is the huge majority of the republican party any more than we need troublesome democrats.

Could the nation use some 65 new faces AND 20 more NEW faces in the demo party? Absolutely.

Here's the deal. National Health Insurance is not a free ride and never will be perhaps with few exceptions.

You see my tax dollars will pay for my portion therefore no one else would be paying for MY National Health Insurance coverage.

However if you listen to the republican party NOT and Max Baucus you would be led to believe that my tax dollars are not my tax dollars. How can that be?

The fact that National Health Insurance would come from the rather substantial tax dollar cookie jars simply means that no monthly or weekly deductions would come out of my pay check per se..

Since federal, state, and local governments collect trillions in taxes of all kinds—income, sales, property, corporate etc etc this is how medical bills would be paid as it is now.

You see as we speak the government tax dollars support medical insurance payments to the tune of at least $1.2 trillion which is quite a gravy train I'd say. Next year this will increase by changing nothing and not passing the National Health Insurance Act.

In essence MY tax dollar amount to pay MY portion of National Health Insurance would be about $2700 annually for the entire family.

What coverage would this buy the family:

*long term care such that cancer demands
*prescription drugs
* hospital
* surgical
* outpatient services
* primary and preventive care
* emergency services
* dental
* mental health
* home health
* physical therapy
* rehabilitation (including for substance abuse)
* vision care
* hearing services including hearing aids
* chiropractic
* durable medical equipment
* palliative care

A good deal that would free up more expendable cash to be spent elsewhere thus creating new jobs. Things like birthdays,christmas,home improvements,taking better care of my lover and investments would benefit.

Smart Wallets and Endorsers

Smart National Health Insurance Improves Our Quality of Life, our wallets and our expendable cash availability! Yes more for birthdays,Christmas vacations, home improvemnents,home purchasing or investments.

National Health Insurance does not remove competition from the actual health care industry. It will be alive and well. Profits will be based on customer service and clinic performance based on the clients experience. This is my perception of competition.

How many of the vocal minority out there supporting the most expensive medical insurance in the world are employees and/or shareholders?

How many are receiving corrupt campaign dollars?

Some of our reps on all sides of the aisle say “Let's slow down a bit”. I say consumers have been waiting for more than 60 years for fiscally responsible medical insurance how much slower can it go?

What could possibly be more american? Providing americans with the choice of National Health Insurance. HR 676 is the only equitable approach that includes all of us.

Shouldn't taxpayers have the choice of National Insurance For All? Absolutely!

HR 676 would cover every person for all necessary medical care including:
*long term care such that cancer demands
*prescription drugs
* hospital
* surgical
* outpatient services
* primary and preventive care
* emergency services
* dental
* mental health
* home health
* physical therapy
* rehabilitation (including for substance abuse)
* vision care
* hearing services including hearing aids
* chiropractic
* durable medical equipment
* palliative care

A family of four making the median income of $56,200 would pay about $2,700 in payroll tax for all health care costs.

HR 676 ends deductibles and co-payments. HR 676 would save hundreds of billions annually by eliminating the high overhead and profits of the private health insurance industry and HMOs.
