Morning DooBee, Morning Dems.
Wed. is my 3 year old granddaughter bonding day.
I will be in and out.
Good morning, all.
And a big thanks to all who serve and have serve in our armed forces in peace and wartime. Let's pledge to treat them with the respect do such an important job and listen to them when they have concerns.
this will piss off some Repug Right Wing asshats:
AP-GfK Poll: A grouchy public sticking with Obama
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama still has the approval of a majority of Americans, but it's an increasingly pessimistic nation.
Now, Obama's approval rating stands at 54 percent, roughly the same as in October but very different from the enthusiastic 74 percent in January just before he took office.
On health care, about half of the country approves of how Obama is doing on his signature domestic issue — virtually unchanged from October. In a major victory for Obama, the House passed a sweeping overhaul of the U.S. medical system over the weekend
Alex for $200.00,
"Not hardly. How many times have I told you I will fly into AZ airport, and meet you face to face anytime you can waddle down to meet me!"
Things a STALKER would say?
Now when even FOX says Palin is a lying POS, you gotta wonder !!!
This must sting a bit. Sarah Palin's newest conspiracy theory on the "disturbing" redesign of U.S. coins was too much, even for Fox News -- on Tuesday night, Fox fact-checked Palin.
Last Friday, while speaking at a Wisconsin Right to Life fundraising banquet -- attendees were barred from bringing cell phones, cameras, laptops -- Palin rolled out the latest: an anti-Christian conspiracy in the redesign of U.S. coins. Palin waded into the subject by remarking that there had been a lot of "change" of late -- for example, the redesign of U.S. currency which moved the once-centered text "In God We Trust" to the edge of coins.
"Who calls a shot like that?" Palin demanded on Friday. "Who makes a decision like that?"
As Fox News anchor Bret Baier noted: President Bush, that's who.

What---are you outright crazy, Dufus???
YOU are the stalker----hiding out behind one's back!!!
I am honest enough come and face you. Obviously, you prefer the hiding behind your little computer there.
Admit it========-YOU ARE A YELLOW BELLY, SLINKING COWARD !
STALKER:

6. to proceed through (an area) in search of prey or quarry: to stalk the woods for game.
7. to proceed or spread through in a steady or sinister manner: Disease stalked the land.

HERE ON VETERANS DAY, FOR THOSE WHO VOTED FOR BUSH AND REPUBLICANS !!!
2,266 Veterans Died In 2008 Because They Were Uninsured
According to a study released by the Harvard Medical School, 2,266 veterans under the age of 65 died last year as a result of not having health insurance. Researchers emphasize that "that figure is more than 14 times the number of deaths (155) suffered by U.S. troops in Afghanistan in 2008, and more than twice as many as have died (911 as of Oct. 31) since the war began in 2001."
The 1.46 million working-age veterans that did not have health insurance last year all experienced reduced access to care as a consequence, leading to "six preventable deaths a day."
Like other uninsured Americans, most uninsured vets are working people -- too poor to afford private coverage but not poor enough to qualify for Medicaid or means-tested VA care," said Dr. Steffie Woolhandler, a professor at Harvard Medical School. [...]

Well you certainly need to stay of the blog then, since you post about 50 LIE'S per day.
Plus your always lying about your sock puppet names.
AND YOU DON'T LIVE IN TUCSON.
THIS VETERAN’S DAY, I AM THINKING ABOUT THE SOLDIERS AND FAMILIES WHO LOST LIVES AT FOOT HOOD.
I KNOW HASSAN WAS BORN IN THE U.S.A. HOWEVER, FOLLOWING MAJOR HASAN’S INDIVIDUAL VIOLENT ACTION, SHOULD WE QUESTION NOT ALLOWING ANY PERSON NOT BORN IN THE UNITED STATES AND BORN FROM A REGION WE ARE AT WAR WITH TO SIGN UP OR SERVE DURING A TIME OF WAR WITH THAT REGION (perhaps dismissing those from that region already signed up with pay until that war is over)?
FROM NOW ON SHOULD WE ASK ANY IMMIGRANT FROM THE MIDDLE EASTERN REGION IF HE OR SHE AGREES WITH AMERICA’S FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LAWS AGAINST MURDER BEFORE THEY CAN OBTAIN AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP? SHOULD THESE PEOPLE ALSO BE REQUIRED TO SIGN A LEGAL AGREEMENT THAT THEY WILL ACCEPT DOUBLE THE LEGAL PUNISHMENT UNDER AMERICAN LAW IF THEY DO COMMIT MURDER?
SHOULD THE MILITARY ASK ANY SOLDIER WHO HAPPENS TO BE MUSLIM, WHO CHOOSES TO SHARE THAT HE IS A MUSLIM WITH THE MILITARY, IF HE OR SHE AGREES WITH U.S. LAW AGAINST MURDER BEFORE THE U.S. MILITARY ACCEPTS THAT PERSON?
WOULD NOT IT BE A NICE INTERNATIONAL GESTURE IF THE U.S. DID NOT MAKE SOLDIERS FIGHT AGAINST ETHNIC GROUPS IN THEIR FAMILIES ANCESTRY IF THEY DO NOT WANT TO?
WHAT DO CRITICS THINK OUR MILITARY ADMINISTRATOR’S AND INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES WERE SUPPOSE TO DO ABOUT FORT HOOD’S, MAJOR HASAN, COMMUNICATING WITH A PROPAGANDA INTERNET EXTREMIST? GO TO HIS FRONT DOOR AND TELL HIM HE WOULD BE DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY BECAUSE THE U.S. GOVERNMENT WAS SPYING ON HIM?
IS NOT THE BEST OUR INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES COULD HAVE DONE IN THAT SITUATION WAS TO INFORM MILITARY OFFICIALS OF HASAN’S OVERSEAS COMMUNICATIONS WITH EXTREMISTS SO THAT THE MILITARY DID NOT RENEW HIS CONTRACT (whenever that was scheduled to be)? HOWEVER, DO INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES HAVE THE LEGAL ABILITY TO SHARE THAT INFORMATION WITH THE MILITARY AND DOES THE MILITARY HAVE THE LEGAL ABILITY TO ACT ON THAT INFORMATION EVEN IF INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES GIVE THE INFORMATION TO THEM?
Hasan was half-way getting away with his overseas communication by enjoying the privacy protections and legal protections that the U.S. Government gives him along the rest of us.
Here we are again, blaming our own government instead of focusing on addressing the problems that people like Hasan give our government. I mean, I can appreciate people thinking that maybe our government system failed us in protecting Military people from other people like Hasan, but did not Hasan’s ways also fail our American system too by not giving any credit to our American and Military ways regarding our laws against murder?
Harpie, i don't live in Apple Valley, Mn. either, however my daughter does, and i will be their over Christmas. Perhaps you would like to meet me.
ahhh, Chassie, we have to cut poor Thomasss, the Harper some slack. Imagine your ego to be thrown out a job at age 55, with no skills outside of a poor sense of humor, and a lot of hate and anger in your gut ! They are trying to re-train Thomass at TORO, but with a limited intelligence, it is not easy. Personally, I think he should go and be Stevie's partner in his lucrative tin can making business, or go work on Dufus's pig ranch!!! heeheehee
Dufus------as far as my remark to Stevieboy about stalking------ask him what a Taunt is !!! Stevie boy has used that remark about his appearance here for 6 years, as his 'hobby"! I was merely throwing it back in his face. GOT THAT NOW, OLD NAZI???
(btw, how'd those elections come out last November 4th, 2008?????? I still get a grin when I remember the elation---don't you, you old Democrat, you !!!) ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Chassie-----Like I have said over and over, these trolls are not REAL men. they are all talk! They don't have a ball between them all! They would no more meet up and look us in the eyes, as they would call their wives in to see what they do on the computer.
Isn't that right---girls???
WOULD NOT IT BE A NICE INTERNATIONAL GESTURE IF THE U.S. DID NOT MAKE SOLDIERS FIGHT AGAINST ETHNIC GROUPS IN THEIR FAMILIES ANCESTRY IF THEY DO NOT WANT TO?

Hope4U on November 11, 2009 at 11:04 AM
Hi, Hope.
That is not always possible. You never know when entering the armed services where you will be called to serve. It makes sense to try, however, especially when it becomes obvious that it could affect others serving in a unit. Making adjustments before deploying is the only prudent thing to do. Has our military become so stretched it can't function rationally?
But I still maintain this guy chose to be a mass murderer. He could have shot himself in the foot or something to make sure the powers-that-be understood how important this issue was to him. He didn't. Instead, he shot unarmed people and had been planning to do it for weeks.
I place the blame squarely on his shoulders along with his superiors who would not listen to his concerns.
Nobody listens to others in this country any longer. We all are talking, blogging, and texting but not listening. As long as we don't respect the feelings of others there will be more of these tragedies.
Joy Behar was just saying that if this guy had been gay, the military would have been falling all over itself to give him a way out...for all the wrong reasons, of course. Although it didn't work with Corporate Klinger, did it?
You're probably right, Hope. Give people a choice. That's what our civil liberties are supposed to be about. And it's just common sense. Create conflict and you create chaos.
I felt proud to be an American after President Obama said that Major Hasan would accept the consequences of his behavior at Fort Hood in this world and in the next world at the Memorial Service for Fort Hood‘s fallen yesterday. Especially, after reading in the New York Times that Hasan had told someone the day before his violent tirade that he would not be here tomorrow (suggesting a possible fantasy of a suicide mission on his part.)
Yes, like some Muslim’s who survive suicide missions, Hasan will accept the consequences of his behavior in this life and possibly in the next.
I guess there would not be a valid reason for anyone to complain to the American Civil Liberties Union about any religious favoritism by our government regarding that statement unless, of course, they want to imply that they favor Islamic extremism while connecting it to the religion of Islam their selves. (Let them sign their John Hancock on any complaint for my government to document, why don‘t they?)
Write on Mr. President and your speechwriter’s, write on!

chassie,
Do you realize what you just said? Why would you want to meet someone who treats you with no respect? He might be Hannibal Lecter for all you know. It's one thing to get together with a group of people who share your interests but a lone wolf?
Don't get sucked into his world. I'm sure the local authorities keep a close eye on the situation the way it is.
I suppose you only meant that as a joke, but please to encourage him.
Have a nice visit with your daughter just the same and be sure to bring warm clothes. I hear MN can be pretty nippy in the winter time.

Where did Dufus go? Never mind, this is Wednesday, he had to go to his job at WalMart. Probably in the Lawn and Garden Dept. Since he has got Cactus growing out his, very wide Ass.
Dufus, you need to quit your job, and give it to a young man that has a family to feed. YOU DONE HAD YOUR CHANCE AND BLEW IT. All old folks need to quit their jobs, and let a young person work that has got a family to support. Especailly at this time with the hard times in this economy. If you want to help the poor, and the jobless situation, then all old folks that are on retirement, need to quit. Go fishing, play bridge, or something but give a person a job, that really needs it, and going thur hard times.
Good afternoon fellow Americans. Good morning to the other time zones.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is against reform on health care, labor law, banking, and climate change. It doesn't stand for most people in the U.S. – or even most businesses.
We had no idea how many of you agreed. Over 12,000 people – including 1,700 business owners – have signed our "Not My Chamber" pledge!
But we think we can reach at least 20,000 signatures before we deliver them. Will you help? Ask your friends to sign the pledge at www.notmychamber.org.
Thank you! Our original message is below. (Please forward it to everyone you know!)
– Manny
Hi,
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is spending millions to block reforms that will help struggling Americans.
Don't let the Chamber keep obstructing progress.
Sign our "Not My Chamber" petition today!
Which of the following describes the U.S. Chamber of Commerce?
1. A powerful lobby fighting to sink health care reform.
2. A force against solutions to the climate crisis.
3. A group using money from bailed-out banks to block workers' rights and financial reform.
4. A "Chamber" that even local Chambers of Commerce distance themselves from.
Answer? All of the above.
Right now, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is engaged in a $100 million campaign to block President Obama's agenda: needed reforms that would help struggling Americans and help make our economy work for everyone.
Sign our "Not My Chamber" pledge. Help show our leaders that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce doesn't speak for real consumers or small businesses.
As small businesses and America's workers suffer, the U.S. Chamber is woefully out of touch with reality. Even major corporations are resigning in protest. In response to the Chamber's stance against clean energy, for instance, companies including Apple, Nike, and PG&E have quit or downgraded their memberships.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce likes people to think it represents small business. But the truth is, it has abandoned the values of local Chambers of Commerce around the country and become a lobby for greedy CEOs. Mike Jaffe, chief executive of the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce, recently said "they don't represent me."
Don't let the U.S. Chamber of Commerce keep obstructing progress. Sign our "Not My Chamber" pledge.
Then, forward this to all your friends and family – especially if they own a small business!
The tide is quickly rising against the Chamber's obstructionist views. Whether you're a member of your local Chamber of Commerce, a small business owner, or someone who simply supports workers' rights, we need you to join us and take a stand.
Thank you for making your voice heard.
Sincerely,
Liz, Manny, Elizabeth B. and the American Rights at Work team
P.S. Please pass this email on to your friends and family – especially folks who are small business owners – and urge them to sign our pledge.
Harpie, i thought you lived in the Minneapolis area, Apple Valley is not that far away.
chassie321Naw... that's just another nutty idea Pammy has about who I am. She confused me early on with someone else and has ever since tried to make that stick but as with a vast majority of her theories it's just an old foolish woman uttering strange things.
bwhahahahahahahaha.....nice try, there THOMASSSSSS!
You go get that Bible----You put your fat little hand on it. You swear on Your Mother's soul,-may she rot in hell if you are lying. You say "I am not the MN Thomass who originally came in here, the one who used various names including one Michelle Law. I never worked at TORO. I do not live in Twin Cities, MN"
THEN , we will maybe , just maybe believe you, but knowing you, you would lie on your Mother's soul and not think anything about it.
You are a lowlife, we all know it. And a liar to boot ! What happened to re-training? they give up on you? Outside of flipping burgers at McDonald, you are cut out for nothing.
You know, I am absolutely AMAZED that I have not seen a response from the Girlie trolls, about this one!!! guess they don't really care about Vets after all!!!

AND HERE'S ANOTHER ONE THEY NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT !!!
Dear Pam,
On the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th month, we honor all of America’s veterans. Today, because of you, we’re calling on one Senator to use today to truly honor veterans by ending his hold on a veterans spending bill.
Earlier in the week, I urged you to sign our petition calling on my Senator Tom Coburn to end his hold of S. 1963, "The Caregivers and Veterans Omnibus Health Services Act of 2009."
Within hours, over 10,000 of you signed. Today, we’re turning over 13,000 signatures to the Senator. The petition was covered by the Military Times newspapers, which you can read here (http://www.armytimes.com/news/2009/11/military_akaka_coburn_veteransbill_110609w/).
By blocking this bill Sen. Coburn is denying veterans a myriad of benefits and services: Caregiver assistance to our most wounded veterans, who often need assistance to do some of the smallest tasks; Funding for such issues as mental health care for women who suffered military sexual trauma, women’s health care needs and medical services for newborn children; Aid for rural veteran health care issues; Mental health care; and, Programs to help ease the burden of veteran homelessness.
On this veterans day, I’d urge Senator Coburn to think about the thousands and thousands of veterans he’s hurting by playing politics with veterans care. The best thing he can do to honor veterans today is to release his hold on this bill. Because of you, the pressure is on him to do so.
Today, we honor all of America’s veterans. Now it’s time for Senator Coburn to join us.
Sincerely,
Miranda Norman
Iraq War Veteran

I don't want to see anymore talk about how they love the Vets and the troops anymore! Hypocrites !!
Good afternoon Bob, i seen that you all fried that piece of crap last night. I don't agree with the death peanalty in a lot of cases, but that piece of crap deserved what he got.
Sandy H,
I think you are right that in many cases, since the Bush Administration, many of us are listening to the spin instead of each other. Many of us since then have been so feverishly trying to get our own opinions out there, hoping that someone will listen; we sometimes wind up ignoring others. However, in the meanwhile America has a moral religious challenge from the Muslim Community on how to respect their religion while at the same time speaking against those who represent the extremism of their religion. It is hard for anyone (maybe even for Muslim’s their selves) to understand where ‘their’ un-represented boundary line between extremism lies, let alone, therefore, to put our own American positions into simple terms.
I do not think the tragedy at Fort Hood happened because the Military did not listen to Hasan’s situation; do you, really? Hasan probably could have gone to his supervisor and explained his situation and they probably could have looked at letting him legally get out of his military contract, Hasan did not want to.
I am angry, because according to information I read in the New York Times, Hasan planned what he was going to do, he discussed doing this with others before he did it, so this was not like a temporary act of insanity. Hasan probably thought he would get public attention and sympathy from American’s on both sides of the Mississippi for his little personal problems. Is that because Hasan knows what suckers American’s are right now when it comes to alleged prejudices against Muslims and America’s conscientiousness about the wars?
For all we know, the military allowed Hasan to come to work everyday wearing his Muslim dress, how could anyone say that the military was not good to Hasan?
'Obama must choose - Israel or Iran'Nov. 11, 2009
JPost.com Staff , THE JERUSALEM POST
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called on the US to choose between Israel and Iran on Tuesday night, according to Iranian state media.
Ahmadinejad said that for a real change in relations to take place, a choice must be made.
Speaking in Istanbul at the 25th Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the Iranian president said that it was up to US President Barack Obmaa to illustrate his motto of "Change."
"The support of both Israel and Iran can't go hand in hand," he was quoted as saying by IRNA. "No change is made unless great choices are made."
"We would welcome the changes, and wait for big and correct decisions to be made… We will clasp any hand that is extended sincerely toward us, but changes should be made in practice."
Addressing the same conference a day earlier, Ahmadinejad said that capitalist excesses caused the global economic meltdown and are un-Islamic, as leaders at a Muslim forum touted their religion's banking system a way to revive battered economies.
He also slammed investments that pay interest, deemed usury by Muslims, and said they had contributed to financial and social problems such as homelessness.
"Usury, which is entrenched in the capitalist system, is perhaps the main reason why the system has gone bankrupt," Ahmadinejad said. "It is a way of accumulating capital without working. Usury, according to the Koran, is fighting with Allah."
Ahmadinejad did not mention Iran's struggling economy, nor did he refer to its dispute with the West over its nuclear activities.
The Islamic forum held its meeting in a plush hotel on the banks of the Bosporus Strait that divides Istanbul between the Asian and European continents. Syrian President Bashar Assad and President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan were also in attendance.

Well, that's an easy choice, President Ahmadinejad. We'll take the civilized people of Israel over a bunch of war mongering religious fundamentalists any day. And if you step one inch over your border, we ought to turn Iran into a sea of glass.
you call that childish, immature attempt at humor 'ripping me"?????? You are as simple as he is, Dufus, you old Slug! Go do some 'Ranch' stuff----or is that as fake as your pretend Christian religion? What did you do----google earth it, and send it on to the tolls, to BRAG that you are really something, not a deadbeat loser like we all tell you that you are? Pretty pathetic you know. How much bragging do you do to them? did you ever see Stevie's house, on the picture on his EBAY site? Never even finished off his walls. You guys sure are high class dudes, huh????? hahahahahaha......
Pam, i'm going to the local VFW, around 4:00PM. and buy all the local Vets, a couple of rounds. It will be full today.
ole Dufus thinks I am near some hog farm?????
the only hog farm is in the next town over. One can only reach it by traveling a mile , and then they have a sign that points about another mile up from the road!
But nice try, Dufus. Is that where you got your Mail Order Bride? heehee. Did she make a silk purse out of her sow's ear????? Do the kids look more like You or her?

I wholeheartedly agree. The GOP treatment of veterans is horrible. They talk a good game but that is where it ends. Sen. Reid (D-NV) ought to bring up a resolution censuring Sen. Coburn (R-OK) for his unwarranted stalling of this important legislation.
well, Sheesh, Dufus----that story about 2666 Dead Vets because of no health insurance in 2008 is a lie???????
BETTER CALL CNN, MSNBC AND CSPAN, THEY HAVE ALL REPORTED ON IT TODAY!!!!
I am sure they were proud that you, a Pretend Veteran, voted for Bush and Republicans and are responsible for it all !!!!! Stinking Hypocrite!
hey Chassie, nice of you to go and buy a round of drinks for some Vets. Dufus will be sending his wife over to the local one, for a special 'treat' for each guy too, but he will have to put a sack over her face !
Did I tell you when my husband and I were flying to CA a couple years ago, we had a stopover in MN airport.
A very young Military boy, dressed in his outfit, with his huge bag, either just going over, or just coming back from Iraq was ordering his lunch in the food court, and my husband went up and paid for his meal. And told him Thank you.
I'm against the death penalty 99% of the time. This was an exception.

The man at fort hood, might of killed more. But he thankfully, only got one chance to do it. The one that you all put down, last night did it over and over, over.
I just can't contemplate, a person doing that for nothing, ya know Money, Rape, getting even, or something. That SOB, just wanted to kill people.
duhhhhhhh, Thomasssss, I am talking about the STORY of Coburn, holding up a Veterans bill !!!!

Who else does not deserve a fair trial, Harpo? Do homosexuals deserve a fair trial? How about doctor murderers? How about African-Americans or some other minority group? And exactly who decides who gets a fair trial? You? The GOP?
The Constitution must apply to everyone, even alleged terrorists like MAJ Hasan, or it means nothing. And in that Constitution, a fair trial by a jury of one's peers in clearly indicated. You and the rest of your ilk may like trying to pick out those among us who deserve the protection of the Constitution and who doesn't but not us Democrats. Even if it was your sorry arse who went on a rampage and shot up a gay bar or a NAACP meeting I, and everyone else in here, would advocate for a fair trial for you because whether we like it or not, you are a fellow American and deserve such. And if I said it once I've said it a thousand times here, we are a nation of law, not men.
So keep your religious bigotry in your hip pocket and let juris prudence take its course. MAJ Hasan will be convicted in a fair trial, he will get the death penalty, and he will burn in hell for what he did last week. And quite frankly, I hope he gets a life without parole sentence instead of death because a death penalty sentence may rise him to the status of martyr amongst his fellow terrorists.

Amen Bob.It seems that Democrats honor free thinking in our party, the debate over health care is a perfect example of how Democrats have respect for their own,on the other hand the pugs chairman steel said he would "go after " anyone who votes for the health care bill.

The Bra That Doubles as a Putting Green
Published: Wednesday, 11 Nov 2009 | 2:19 PM ETBy: Cindy Perman - Writer
It’s hard to stand out in this economy but one Japanese lingerie maker has managed to do just that: It created a bra that also doubles as a putting green.
Here’s how it works: If you unfurl the corset-like bra, it’s a five-foot putting mat with two holes — yep, exactly where you think they’d be. A built-in speaker will pipe “Nice shot!” if you make it in, Japan Today reports.
It comes with a skirt that doubles as a flag for the course that says “Quiet, please” across the back, to ensure some shred of civility is kept on this titillating course.
Hey, just because you’ve unfurled the garment for other purposes, doesn’t mean you can act like an animal!
This isn’t the first gimmicky garment from lingerie maker Triumph. If you read The Lingerie Post, like I do, you’d know that they’ve already done the solar-powered bra, the shopping-bag bra and the marriage-hunting bra.
Bra-vo!

Op-Ed Columnist Paranoia Strikes Deep By PAUL KRUGMAN Published: November 9, 2009Last Thursday there was a rally outside the U.S. Capitol to protest
pending health care legislation, featuring the kinds of things we’ve
grown accustomed to, including large signs showing piles of bodies at
Dachau with the caption “National Socialist Healthcare.” It was
grotesque — and it was also ominous. For what we may be seeing is
America starting to be Californiafied. The key thing to understand about that rally is that it wasn’t a
fringe event. It was sponsored by the House Republican leadership — in
fact, it was officially billed as a G.O.P. press conference. Senior
lawmakers were in attendance, and apparently had no problem with the
tone of the proceedings.True, Eric Cantor, the second-ranking House Republican, offered some
mild criticism after the fact. But the operative word is “mild.” The
signs were “inappropriate,” said his spokesman, and the use of Hitler
comparisons by such people as Rush Limbaugh, said Mr. Cantor,
“conjures up images that frankly are not, I think, very helpful.”What all this shows is that the G.O.P. has been taken over by the
people it used to exploit. The state of mind visible at recent right-wing demonstrations is
nothing new. Back in 1964 the historian Richard Hofstadter published
an essay titled, “The Paranoid Style in American Politics,” which
reads as if it were based on today’s headlines: Americans on the far
right, he wrote, feel that “America has been largely taken away from
them and their kind, though they are determined to try to repossess it
and to prevent the final destructive act of subversion.” Sound
familiar? But while the paranoid style isn’t new, its role within the G.O.P. is.
When Hofstadter wrote, the right wing felt dispossessed because it was
rejected by both major parties. That changed with the rise of Ronald
Reagan: Republican politicians began to win elections in part by
catering to the passions of the angry right.Until recently, however, that catering mostly took the form of empty
symbolism. Once elections were won, the issues that fired up the base
almost always took a back seat to the economic concerns of the elite.
Thus in 2004 George W. Bush ran on antiterrorism and “values,” only to
announce, as soon as the election was behind him, that his first
priority was changing Social Security. But something snapped last year. Conservatives had long believed that
history was on their side, so the G.O.P. establishment could, in
effect, urge hard-right activists to wait just a little longer: once
the party consolidated its hold on power, they’d get what they wanted.
After the Democratic sweep, however, extremists could no longer be
fobbed off with promises of future glory.Furthermore, the loss of both Congress and the White House left a
power vacuum in a party accustomed to top-down management. At this
point Newt Gingrich is what passes for a sober, reasonable elder
statesman of the G.O.P. And he has no authority: Republican voters
ignored his call to support a relatively moderate, electable candidate
in New York’s special Congressional election.Real power in the party rests, instead, with the likes of Rush
Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin (who at this point is more a
media figure than a conventional politician). Because these people
aren’t interested in actually governing, they feed the base’s frenzy
instead of trying to curb or channel it. So all the old restraints are
gone.In the short run, this may help Democrats, as it did in that New York
race. But maybe not: elections aren’t necessarily won by the candidate
with the most rational argument. They’re often determined, instead, by
events and economic conditions. In fact, the party of Limbaugh and Beck could well make major gains in
the midterm elections. The Obama administration’s job-creation efforts
have fallen short, so that unemployment is likely to stay disastrously
high through next year and beyond. The banker-friendly bailout of Wall
Street has angered voters, and might even let Republicans claim the
mantle of economic populism. Conservatives may not have better ideas,
but voters might support them out of sheer frustration. And if Tea Party Republicans do win big next year, what has already
happened in California could happen at the national level. In
California, the G.O.P. has essentially shrunk down to a rump party
with no interest in actually governing — but that rump remains big
enough to prevent anyone else from dealing with the state’s fiscal
crisis. If this happens to America as a whole, as it all too easily
could, the country could become effectively ungovernable in the midst
of an ongoing economic disaster. The point is that the takeover of the Republican Party by the
irrational right is no laughing matter. Something unprecedented is
happening here — and it’s very bad for America.
The angry white man has now become the minority and they are flipping out as evidenced by the rhetoric of our resident trolls. They are flipping out not only for the reasons that Dr. Krugman state but because they know how badly they've treated minorities over the decades. They're afraid they're going to get treated the same way. What goes around comes around.
Harpo_TheWatchman on November 11, 2009 at 03:53 PM
Your disdain toward anyone who isn't white, rich, and Christian is well known, Harpo. It is indicative of you Republicans. Now if you want me to break out a search engine and track down a few of the racist comments you've made about the POTUS, amongst others, I may just oblige when I find the time.
But you failed to answer the question, Harpo. Instead, you're trying dodge it. Who doesn't deserve a fair trial in America and why?
And if you consider someone in their mid-forties to be old, then your mother ought to be monitoring your internet activity.
Harpo_TheWatchman on November 11, 2009 at 04:07 PM
I don't have to, Harpo. Your 1330EST post says it all.
...Now as for "frying" a piece of crap, that would be a most deserving punishment that should be doled out for that Islamic terrorist Major Nidal Hasan. His lawyer, the retired Army colonel John Galligan, is expressing doubt that the Hasan would be able to get a fair trial, given the widespread attention to the case.Isn't that a hoot? A guy who murders 13 people and wounds 29 in the worst terrorist attack on an American military base in history is now concerned that such an act might make it difficult for him to get a fair trial. You just gotta shake your head in wonderment at the of these asshats.
Keep dancin', Harpo, keep dancin'.
Good afternoon, all.
BobVADemocratHawk on November 11, 2009 at 12:54 PM
Hi, Bob.
It amazes me how such juvenile-acting people rise to such prominence.
Spunky was bad enough. Now we have this Iranian crybaby saying the world must pick sides, or more like we must pick HIM over Israel in some sort of high school popularity contest. Personalities have taken over the debate...actually made themselves the debate instead of the real issues?
In the meantime, the problems of hard-working, serious people around the world are being neglected while policy decisions are held hostage by the rants and demands of these little dictators.
I'm thinking there must be some mutant gene racing around the globe infecting the brains of all these radical fundamentalists no matter what religion they say they follow. Ahmadinejad would fit right in at a teabagger event. They are all immature, egomaniacs.
Statesmen used to stand up to this nonsense and move past the rhetoric to pass legislation or negotiate terms that everyone could live with. I don't understand what these little tyrants think these made-up controversies accomplish for Mankind. I'm especially angry with the Church of my youth for being so obtuse.
But then that's the real problem with fundamentalists? They really like the chaos as it makes them feel that they are significant in some way instead of being irrelevant to any solution?
SandyH on November 11, 2009 at 04:41 PM
The only difference between W and Ahmadinejad is one is supposedly a Christian and the other is supposedly a Muslim. Both are knuckle dragging war mongers who insist their religions are the only religions and anyone who subscribes to a different faith must be eradicated. This is what conservatism gets you; petty dictators.
Hope4U on November 11, 2009 at 12:54 PM
Hope,
I agree entirely that the shooter is the only one responsible for his actions. But I also think that the military should have been looking out for potential problems instead of ignoring a very obvious, vocal one.
When an institution become so preoccupied with political problems that it neglects its own health, you are going to have innocent members of the family getting hurt.
This is not just the problem of the military. It's the governing problem of our entire society. We've allowed our political system to concentrate only on the wants and needs of a few. It's corrupted the economic, social, and political base to such a point that we are in a continual state of crisis.
Had we heeded the warning signs years ago, things would not have been so dire now. We are forced now to deal with the underlying problems first before we can attack the resulting suffering caused by the neglect. It's a hard pill to swallow, but that's the way things are.
But then nothing worth really having comes without sacrifice.
Those who always demand instant gratification and wealth are in for a rude awakening. Just cutting back spending, paying down deficits, or balancing budgets will not even begin to solve problems as large as those we face today. In a world of outsourced economies, nuclear proliferation, and global warming the challenges are becoming harder to deal with even as internal forces are continuing to ignore the growing threat to all Mankind.
To solve anything you must face the reality of your situation. These are too few in high places still willing to do that. So there will be more mass murders, turmoil in the Middle East, and layoffs/downsizing/cut backs in services...and growing social unrest (not from just the Right).
You would think most Americans would realize after the 911 attacks, the economic meltdown, and an unemployment figure over 10% that there are more important things to do than argue about religious positions on personal matters. But apparently not. They will wait until it effects hurt them personally in some horrible way.
Then they will scream that it's all the fault of that skinny guy from South Chicago who palled around with a terrorist (somehow?), Bill Clinton, Carter or even Truman. Oh, they are already done that, haven't they?
Then they will be blaming it on gays, abortion, the election of a black man, universal health care death panels, a woman Speaker of the House; and of course, unions especially teachers unions. It's so predictable and doesn't help matters one bit.
We need statesmen, scientists, and poets not religious and political fanatics ruling the world.
AZCactusDanTheMan on November 11, 2009 at 04:57 PM
You shouldn't project your own selfish viewpoint on others when you obviously don't care about anyone but yourself...always have, always will.
BobVADemocratHawk on November 11, 2009 at 04:59 PM
So true, Bob.
The only true religion is the fellowship of the common man.
Every great religion has made it clear that they are there to praise the Creator for the opportunities and possibilities the world offers to us and to bring solace and hope to Mankind. They all profess that We are the solution if we would only work together for the common good.
To use any religion as The Answer to everything is to be copping out of the hard work necessary for eternal redemption. That's the real problem here...slackers.
Butters posts this message day in and day out and the doorknobs ignore it because it would mean some sacrifice on their part. They ain't going to do it.
They want an easy way out. And quite frankly we can't make them assume responsibility for their actions. We can only pray that one of the world's religious finally gets through to them. The Lord has done his work and waits for us to do the same.
bbl.
AZCactusDanTheMan on November 11, 2009 at 05:37 PM

This is one of the few times you make a valid point. If it's good enough for Congress, then it should be good enough for the American people.
Quite frankly, the simplest approach to healthcare reform would be opening up the FEHBP to all Americans, pro-rate the premiums to your last year's income tax return, impose a millionaire's tax to pick up the slack, and make it illegal for a doctor or hospital to refuse the insurance. Alas, there are too many congressmen, on both sides of the aisle, bought and paid for by the insurance lobby.
Catass, everybody here knows, that Sally is a cowardly son of a bitch, and so are you. You wouldn't make a pimple on Pammy's ass, Jerk.

3. "We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. ... We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation." --Sarah Palin, speaking at a fundraiser in Greensoboro, N.C., Oct. 16, 2008

5. "Well, let's see. There's ― of course in the great history of America there have been rulings that there's never going to be absolute consensus by every American, and there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So, you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but ―" --Sarah Palin, unable to name a Supreme Court decision she disagreed with other than Roe vs. Wade, interview with Katie Couric, CBS News, Oct. 1, 2008 (Watch video clip)

8. "[T]hey're in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom." --Sarah Palin, getting the vice president's constitutional role wrong after being asked by a third grader what the vice president does, interview with NBC affiliate KUSA in Colorado, Oct. 21, 2008 (Watch video clip)
9. "I told the Congress, 'Thanks, but no thanks,' on that Bridge to Nowhere." –Sarah Palin, who was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it
10. "I'm the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can't.'" --Sarah Palin, as quoted by former City Council Member Nick Carney, after he raised objections about the $50,000 she spent renovating the mayor's office without approval of the city council

Young Republican National Federation Chair accused of sexually assaulting sleeping man
Folks, when it rains it pours...the GOP sexual hypocrite parade continues in all its glory. I give you...
Glenn Murphy, Jr., the recently elected chairman of the Young Republican National Federation (also the RNC Chair for Clark County, Indiana and formerly the YRNF Secretary) has been accused of sexually assaulting a sleeping man. Immediately following the accusation, he came up with an unrelated reason to resign, and the YRNF cleansed their website of his name.
Allegedly, Murphy and another YR were drunk and crashing at Murphy's sister's house. The other man apparently awoke in the morning to find Murphy giving him a non-consensual blow job. The Clark County (Indiana) Sheriff's Department is charging Murphy with "criminal deviate conduct", a Class B felony.
Taking Down Words, an Indiana blog, has been following this guy for some time. And guess what? Apparently this isn't the first time his mouth has ended up on someone's privates while they were asleep. Glenn Murphy has a prior arrest for sexual battery. Here's the 1998 Clark County police report.
SEEMS THOSE FAMILY VALUE REPUGS ARE REALLY ALL PERVERTS------
I thought I had seen it all from the moralizing, anti-gay, bible beating mouthpieces, but I think this may take the cake. As commenter Justabill noted in a thread at Americablog, we’ve had these Republican Sexual Hypocrite reveals in the last month and a half:
* Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID), cruising for potty sex, somehow “mistakenly” pleads guilty.
* Diaper David Vitter (R-LA) admits he’s a “bad”, “naughty” and “nasty boy” with hookers.
* former White house spiritual advisor and fallen megachurch pastor Tweaker Ted “I’m completely heterosexual” Haggard asking whatever fans he has left for money.
* former NC Republican lawmaker and Christian Action League president, Coy C. Privette — caught at the no-tell motel with a sex worker — also guilty.
* Mark Foley is back in the news, he won’t turn over his former congressional computer to investigators.
* Rep. Bob Allen, another Republican, caught asking to blow an undercover officer and willing to pay $20 for the pleasure; currently coming up with an excuse for the day (scary black men, thunderstorms) for his same-sex appetite.
With the hypocrite closet bursting open, and its occupants falling out on top of one another, there’s not a lot the Moral Values SetTM can do except wring their hands and fret about the state of things, right? They rallied the faithful in the evangelical pews and placed their faith in — and cast their votes for — publicly pious, “family values” politicians and community leaders who now are destroying the right-wing campaign to retake the secular culture back from the godless heathens, wanton women who dare to want to control their womb and sexuality, and the homosexuals.
Now that you have their names, Thomasss, maybe you can get in touch with a few of them for some pointers !
Good night Dems have you all noticed that the Pugs, have not offered anything today that does anything positive for are VETERANS????????

HEY THOMASSSSSSS-----YOU THINK WE ARE JEALOUS OF THIS????????? YOUR OWN PATY MEMBERS THOUGHT SHE WAS A NUT CASE !!!!
Does it seem to anyone else like our government doesn't work anymore?
It seems EVERYONE is in agreement that we MUST do SOMETHING about HEALTHCARE. The costs are are sky-rocketing putting Americans in the poor house and keeping companies from starting up and keeping companies from being profitable. But it seems we cannot get a bill through Congress that a majority agrees with. Normally, compromise is how this is done. But no one seems to compromise any more. We have the Joe Liarmans of the world who will fillibuster. We have the repelicans that will vote no on everything for political reasons. And we have the media that is ignoring all of this. Pretending it is business as usual.
This is not usual. This is new. If this was usual, how did ANYTHING EVER get passed when the Senate was more evenly split? If this was usual, the party in the minority would have simply fillibustered EVERYTHING so the party in power would look bad.
Randi Rhodes today had a story about a catholic woman who was having marriage problems so she went to see her priest to discuss the problem. As she was leaving the priest kissed her and you know what that leads to.
Nine months later she had a baby and sued the diocese for child support which they paid for some time and then it stopped just before his eighteenth birthday. Recently she found that the boy has cancer and she can't afford the cost of treatments. She approached the church to ask for help paying the medical bills and the deviate priest demanded a DNA test which of course proved that the kid was his. In the end the church told her that the church will pay for his funeral. Now she has cancer and is dying.
Randi was talking about the catholic church and how their is a concerted effort to deep six the health bill by the catholic bishops in the US. They are interfering in politics like they did in the 2004 election threatening to excommunicate John Kerry if he won the election. Of course they also interfered in 2001 with all the "I vote pro-life" bumper stickers.
Their current interference involves outlawing abortion in the health bill and paying for the medical expenses of illegal aliens.
In church last Sunday the priest read a statement for the national bishops to this effect and it really pissed us off.
Why does the catholic church interfere when they know that we have separation of church and state?
President Obama should immediately direct the IRS to revoke the church's tax exemption. This should be done with any other church that preaches politics and I am sure there are lots of them.
All these extra taxes would help pay for our health bill.
CASH FOR CLUNKERS SUCCESSFUL IN MANY WAYS!!!
Cash for Clunkers Program Nets 700,000 More Fuel-Efficient Vehicles
During the Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS program), better known as the Cash for Clunkers program, consumers turned in gas guzzlers and bought nearly 700,000 more fuel-efficient vehicles in less than 30 days, according to newly released government documents.
“CARS was a wildly successful program that sold nearly 250,000 cars in its first four days alone. There can be no doubt that CARS drummed up more business for car dealers at a time when they needed help the most,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.
About 85 percent of trade-ins under the program are trucks, and 59 percent of new vehicle purchases are cars. The program worked far better than anyone anticipated at moving consumers out of old, dirty trucks and SUVs and into new more fuel-efficient cars.
The program raised the average fuel economy of the fleet, while getting the dirtiest and most polluting vehicles off the road. As far as mileage goes, new vehicles’ mileage is on average 24.9 miles per gallon, an increase from the average 15.8 miles per gallon on the trade-in vehicles.

Sad to read on this Veterans day. The military does not give a shit about it's men----they are merely collateral to use for their Failing wars.
A Morally Bankrupt Military: When Soldiers and Their Families Become Expendable
The military operates through indoctrination. Soldiers are programmed to develop a mindset that resists any acknowledgment of injury and sickness, be it physical or psychological. As a consequence, tens of thousands of soldiers continue to serve, even being deployed to combat zones like Iraq and/or Afghanistan, despite persistent injuries. According to military records, over 43,000 troops classified as "nondeployable for medical reasons" have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan nevertheless.
The recent atrocity at Fort Hood is an example of this. Maj. Nidal Hasan had worked as a counselor at Walter Reed, hearing countless stories of bloodshed, horror and death from dismembered veterans from the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. While he had not yet served in Iraq or Afghanistan, the major was overloaded with secondary trauma, coupled with ongoing harassment about his being a Muslim. This, along with other factors, contributed towards Hasan falling into a desperation so deep he was willing to slaughter fellow soldiers, and is indicative of fissures running deep into the crumbling edifice upon which the US military stands.

Chassie, I have said repeadedly, this man has the lowest IQ I have ever seen. Posting a 2 1/2 year old post of Dusty's and trying to pretend it was his last one! I fear for Dufus' wife's life----I really do. When one gets to this stage of mental illness, they go berserk and kill their families and themselves ! But if she has not left yet, it is probably because her own IQ is not too high either.
I have asked him before ---what are you doing with a woman that would have anything to do with you? Something wrong there !
Dufus gets shriller and shriller, more hysterical every day. This part time job he had to get is really getting to him!
Let's see how he spends his Thanksgiving again this year------alone on his computer ???
YAHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!! What do you want to bet he will be at Fox next week?????
Lou Dobbs says he is leaving CNN
NEW YORK – Longtime CNN host Lou Dobbs shocked his viewers Wednesday by announcing that he would be leaving the network effective immediately.
The daily host of "Lou Dobbs Tonight" addressed his viewers after giving the day's headlines and told them Wednesday's show would be his final time in the anchor chair.
"This will be my last broadcast," he said.
He said CNN had allowed him to be released from his contract early and that he was considering a number of options for the next stage in his career.
"I will let you know when I set my course," he said. He said he wanted to "contribute positively to a better understanding of the great issues of our day."

Did you see this one Chassie??????? This is another reason the trolls are so, so pissed off these days-----things have all turned around except for jobs, and it was predicted this would probably be a jobless recovery!!!

WHAT A DIFFERENCE IN THE STANCE AND ATTITUDE OF OBAMA DOING THESE ACTIONS, COMPARED TO THE LITTLE COWBOY WHO ALWAYS HAD A SNEER ON HIS FACE !
'It's never too late to say thank you,' Obama tells veterans
Washington (CNN) -- President Obama paid tribute Wednesday to those who have lost their lives in the nation's wars as well as to the men and women who currently serve.
"There's no tribute, no commemoration, no praise that can truly match the magnitude of your service and your sacrifice," he said in a speech at Arlington National Cemetery on a rainy, overcast Veterans Day.
"We call this a holiday, but for many veterans, it's another day of memories that drive them to live their lives each day as best as they possibly can," he said.
"For our troops, it is another day in harm's way. For their families, it is another day to feel the absence of a loved one and the concern for their safety. For our wounded warriors, it is another day of slow recovery. And in this national cemetery, it is another day when grief remains fresh."
He vowed that "America will do right" by its troops.
I sure find it amusing, that the only Republicans with balls and big mouths----seem to be FEMALE. Bachman and Palin----out there distorting, smearing, spinning, lying and pretending they are some kind of moral, family value broads ! both with 5 kids each, trying to buy their way into heaven!!! hahahaha
I understand they are investigating a bunch of pedophiles who are going to southeast Asia to have sex with little boys and girls. I certainly hope they make some arrests soon.
Wouldn't it be funny if it were a certain right-wing extremist. It seems most pedophiles are republicans. That would blow the lid off the "family values" party.
Harporrhoid, Stupid-Sally (aka Frosty), and Dufus-Dan (aka AZcactus),
Harporrhoid makes his living making sure the toilets don't overflow.
Stupid-Sally is unemployed (and likely unemployable above minimum wage).
Dufus-Dan is back to work (likely at minimum wage) because his "boss" job at McDonalds didn't pay enough to support his retirement.
Three losers pretending they know things.
Three losers pretending anyone really cares what they think.
Three losers that are the poster children of the Repelican party.
Dupes, all three, unable to grasp reality; unable to think for themselves, dependent on the right-wing talking points to form their opinions.
Let the right-wing-nut psycho-babble begin...
Go ahead, idiots, tell us what you "think".
Good evening, all.
Dithering Heights. That sums it up well.
The do-nothing Senate
By Harold Meyerson
Wednesday, November 11, 2009
The House has delivered. It has done what in American politics today is all but impossible: It has passed a major bill.
Now health care goes to the Senate. The world's greatest deliberative body. The other side of Capitol Hill. Dithering Heights...
This is why the American people have no faith in Congress or their government any longer. As they watched John McCain "dithering round" last year running for president, they decided they wanted nothing of him and his kind.
But that's what we have in the U.S. Senate. A bunch of dithering old fools stuck back in the late 19th century who think this country can wait for Kingdom Come to fix the problems that are slowly destroying the might of this country.
Something has to be done about the Senate and the dithering idiots who are condemning our children/grandchildren to a worst than dismal future. This could be end of the road for America and these doorknobs have no idea what's going on...and don't care.
Official: Obama wants his war options changed

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama does not plan to accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team, pushing instead for revisions to clarify how and when U.S. troops would turn over responsibility to the Afghan government, a senior administration official said Wednesday...

It's about time someone told the top brass who went along with Bush, Blackwater, and the military industrial complex that they're not living up to their past advertising and publicity. It's not good enough any longer to just ask and you will receive without being asked questions and giving the right answers.
Something is not right in the state of Afghanistan and we aren't going to continue a policy that is dysfunctional at best. Finally, we are seeing signs that we have a real Commander-in-Chief taking charge again of our foreign policy.

It's been a long time since we won a war. Bill Clinton was the president then. Apparently he is offering some sage advise to the new Commander in the ways of achieving success.
There certainly isn't much President Obama could learn from the way foreign policy was waged in the last eight years.
Gorbachev’s Sermon on the Mount
Posted on Nov 11, 2009
AP
By Robert Scheer
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” That biblical quotation certainly applies to Mikhail Gorbachev, a man not honored enough for the example he set and whose past practices and recent cautions about Afghanistan should be heeded by Barack Obama. Or, on a secular note, if the Sermon on the Mount doesn’t cut it for you, take German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s praise for the former Soviet leader at the ceremony marking the fall of the Berlin Wall, which he helped destroy: “You courageously allowed things to happen, and that was much more than we could have expected.”
The hero’s reception granted Gorbachev when he accompanied the German leader across the Bornholmer Street bridge to mark the 20th anniversary of the end of the city’s division was credit long overdue. As The New York Times reported: “More than 1,000 people lined the bridge Monday night under gray skies and a steady drizzle to hear the chancellor speak, but their loudest cheers came when she thanked Mr. Gorbachev for the reforming attitude he brought to the Soviet leadership that helped make the events of that historic night possible.” The crowd, chanting “Gorby, Gorby, Gorby,” understood that he had done something unique for a world leader: He admitted the error of his system’s ways and radically reversed its course.
The surrender of immense political power, personal as well as international in scope, is something we never expect from leaders, but Gorbachev set a model of self-sacrifice for a larger purpose that one wishes others would follow. How rare in history for a leader of such great standing to surrender his position, along with its abundance of personal perquisites, for the larger common good. How unexpected for the leader of a military colossus to turn swords into plowshares.
That is what Gorbachev did, beginning with his bold outreach to Western leaders including Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, prompting the latter to say, “I like Mr. Gorbachev; we can do business together.” The British prime minister influenced President Reagan to take a similarly open stance, and when Gorbachev reciprocated, the Cold War effectively came to an end. Gorbachev’s words were followed by actions, beginning with suspension of the scheduled deployment of intermediate-range nuclear weapons. That was followed with an even bolder proposal to cut both the Soviet and U.S. nuclear arsenals by half and then act to eliminate them altogether. Most important for the current moment was Gorbachev’s decisive moves to reduce the Soviet troop presence in Afghanistan, followed by his 1988 announcement of the full withdrawal of troops from that country.
Gorbachev drew on his experience in a CNN interview Sunday during which he again played the part of peacemaker, urging Obama to pull troops out of Afghanistan. “I think that our experience deserves attention,” the former Soviet president said. He recommended that the U.S., in the hope of bringing an end to “the long suffering of the [Afghan] people,” focus on “dialogue” and that “withdrawal from Afghanistan should be the goal.” ...

Gee, according to the Republicans it was Reagan that brought down That Wall. History and the Germans remember otherwise.
All Murdock's horses and all Murdock's men can't put Ronald Reagan's failed legacy back together again. And neither can the Birthers, Boss Limbaugh (who is the the #1 teabagger and we all know why), or Palin who is the future of the GOP's descent into oblivion.
How's that hip hop "make over" of the GOP and re-writing of Republican history working for you conservatives?
You've failed to impress our allies, frighten our adversaries, or collared the loyalty of Independent voters in the purple states with your continued dysfunctional wit and wisdom. The economic meltdown, Katrina, outsourcing, irresponsible deregulation, downsizing, the TARP, and your stand against ANY health care relief for middle class Americans have endeared you to Baby Boomers and the younger generation alike...for decades to come.
Stalling against change is going to get you.
Do you suppose Bill Clinton pointed this out at that luncheon this past week with Lieberman and the rest of those conservative Democratic Senators who are threatening to stall a vote in Dithering Heights?
Did he tell them that maybe if they can't be part of the solution they could at least allow others to vote on fixing what's broken before all hell breaks loose in yet another area of our nation's economy?
I suppose he was too polite. But someone needs to do it. Not just tell them but threaten them? We could hire the teabaggers?
The_Evil_Dr*Burd on November 12, 2009 at 01:31 AM
I wouldn't be quoting Lennon or McCartney to sell your silly ideas. Sir Paul and Yoko Ono don't agree with anything your stand for or propose. They might sue.
And quit trying to act like you were part of the culture when you are so disconnected from the human race you don't fit in anywhere except at one of Cheney's freaky award ceremonies. You missed the boat (and the yellow submarine) with your failed conservative ideology.
It's too late to say you were at Woodstock when we all know you were responsible for Ground Zero and Abu Graibe.
And that's why Obama should never have been elected president.....
But he was. And he is President and Commander-in-Chief and you can't change the fact, you bigoted sore loser.
To Hell with the Constitution...
That's what Bush said. Didn't seem to phase you then.
Just how does breaking up monopolies take away your guns, make you marry a gay person, or force you to have an abortion? You seem to be afraid of everything but paying higher prices for health care than you should?
Now why would you want to pay higher prices when you're so against paying higher taxes?
Glad to see Lou Dobbs leave CNN. He'll probably wind up over at FOX where they all go when no one else wants to hire them. A loser for a loser network!
Looks like Stevie is still at it...what a wind bag lol! He sure creeps me out -
oh and Stevie - go ahead and contact the police on Pam... I'm sure over the years she has quite alot of crap on your sorry ass. Enough to counter sue your ass from the moon and back - you'd probably be paying her for the rest of your life - what little you make and all.

Thank you Sandy. I couldn't have said it better. ronnie reegan's legacy is a non-starter. He was a world bully, a war monger and a chicken hawk who served in an acting job in WWII making pep movies. He never saw a minute of the devastation of war.
In 1983 he got us into the Great Reagan Depression of 1983 having introduced trickle down economics and destroying America.
He was certainly no hero and no man I can look up to and respect. The likes of hannity and the rest of the right-wing extremists can fawn over his record and quotes all they want. I still think he was an Altzheimer's suffering human being who was led around by the likes of cheney and bush.
Do you want to know the republican I really respected. It was Dwight Eisenhower who knew the devastation of war and the suffering of the citizens on both sides during a war. He was bright enough to know that this was not what most of the American people wanted.
I can't think of a single "republican" living today who is honest enough, who is not a chicken hawk SOB and is not corrupt and a closet pervert.
are you trying to say that lack of insurance is the cause of death on those death Certicicates???
188The_Evil_Dr*Burd on November 12, 2009 at 12:42 AM
Are YOU so stupid that you don't know that if those 2666 vets had had insurance, they would still be alive???????
That SOB reegan even bullied the American people. Look at his comments about the federal government. He was buddy buddy with rich creep who owned a chain of restaurants in the US. This creep was rabid about the government and how there are too many regulations and how they are too big and can't get anything done.
This creep influenced the Altzheimer suffering reegan so much that he turned him into a federal government hating POS. We are still paying for it today. This is why our country is on the road to oblivion. In a few generations, the rich will live in palaces, and the rest of us will live in caves if the right-wing extremists have anything to say about it.
I for one will not accept any more of this right-wing extremist bullshit. We need change and we are getting despite all the old bastards in the Senate who should have been eliminated years ago.
WE NEED TERM LIMITS ON THE SENATE. WHY NOT MAKE THEM SERVE A TWO YEAR TERM TOO WITH A LIMIT OF TWO TERMS. That would get rid of the old bastards. I thought we were rid of the old bastards when reegan died but I was wrong. I forgot about the old bastards in the Senate and yes, the Congress. Look at boner. I think he was hatched in the house and his constituents are too damn stupid to vote him out. Get with it folks. Help save America. Do your part and let's get rid of all old farts and set term limits from here on out. I am beginning to think we should have term limits on the Supreme Court too. The brains of these old farts are tuned to the nineteenth century and are in a rut.
funny thing is i have been wishing dobbs would vanish into the right wing fog but i never thought he actually would! and then yesterday as if christmas presents were being given out early this year the cranky old nutball up and quit. i expect to see him at tea party gatherings of ten to twenty loons holding up a picture of auschwitz and comparing democrats to storm troopers.....good riddance you self involved clown.
Obama's indifference and distaste are on display every day. He golfs while unemployment surges. He pontificates after an attack against America.
Why the "let them eat cake" attitude? Is it because he's pleased that the Left's long-laid plan to decimate capitalism is working nicely? Is he stubborn, not wanting to do what he doesn't want to do?
I'd say yes. But there's something much more unsettling.
He may have a limited ability to care.
Sure, Obama loves his wife, children, dog Bo, and himself -- especially himself. And he relishes his far left ideology.
But the working stiff, the heart and soul of this country? I don't see it. The United States? I don't think so posted by the German Burd Brain
THE MERE FACT THAT YOU DARE TO POST THIS FALSEHOOD, AFTER 8 YEARS OF GEORGE BUSH AND 14 YEARS OF REPUBLICAN MAJORITY----SHOWS HOW OUT OF TOUCH WITH AMERICA YOU ARE, LIVING IN GERMANY!!!
That propoganda came straight out of a liberal blog about George W. Bush! Did you EVER see George Bush, who took the most vacation days in history of US Presidents, who was totally self consumed, give a damn about middle or low class Americans? Talk about let them eat cake----Did you see his Mother saying the displaced New Orlenas people living in Texas centers were better off? Did you ever see him attend a funeral of a troop that he killed with his lie, or visit a family of one? He refused to let photos of flag draped coffins be shown, because it was not the photo op he wanted of himself ! You were lucky you were a German during that period----how humiliating it was to watch this man with dignataries, and while overseas ! You have no idea how embarassing to be the laughing stock of the world, while he was President !!!!
Like I told you before, Burd brain, until you are an American again, keep your fat pie hole shut up real tight. We do not want you talking about our President---anymore than you want us to talk about Merkel!!!
Gregg,
I had gotten so I had to turn the channel when Dobbs came on----it was just like a Soap Opera. You know ,you can be away from the series for months, and when you turn it back on---it is like you never missed a beat ! If he did not have immigrants to pick on----he would have folded long ago. What a blustery, loud mouth, Koolaid Pouring Bigot he was !

It is just what the Baggers and Birthers are clamoring for, another clueless wingnut with all the right hating points.

I went to the Mayor's swearing in ceremony last week. I told here there was a Loon out the wood of MN, who is threatening to send her blog posts from me !!! We had a terrific laugh, and she said she would tell the Police chief also, who we both know well too. (he's a Democrat, too) You see, I also told her I had pages and pages of run off posts of your's----Racist, homophobic, hate filled, attacks on others. Including personal information on many. I told her how when you got angry---you would copy the blog over and over and keep posting it. I told her how you bragged about letting your 13 year old daughter take turns with you. How you are a Felon---stealing from people with those tin can machines ! How you blamed your brother---and he attempted suicide over it! How you bragged over cheating your ex wife out of child support, even when you knew she did not have a decent job.
Yeah, she is eagerly looking forward to this----so she can get you arrested for all of your own filth ! Just more stuff to go to the Secret Service files on you !!!!!!
You go, boy!!!
back later on, Dems.......
Jobless Claims Post Another Drop as Picture Improves
Published: Thursday, 12 Nov 2009 | 8:34 AM ET
The number of U.S. workers filing new claims for jobless insurance fell to the lowest since January, government data showed on Thursday, pointing to improvements in the labor market.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits dropped last week to a seasonally adjusted 502,000 from a revised 514,000 the prior week. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected initial claims to fall to 510,000 from an initially reported 512,000.
"It shows that companies are cutting jobs at a slower pace than during the financial crisis," said Gary Thayer, chief macrostrategist for Wells Fargo Advisors in St. Louis. "We're trending in the right direction, but we are probably several months away from (rising) monthly payrolls numbers," he said.
Initial jobless claims peaked in March at 674,000, nearly double what they were at the start of the recession in December 2007
