I say nice things about Obama all the time.

I wrote a touching piece last night praising his political skills. You probably didn't read it all because you were so overtaken by the sentimentality of my prose...I do admit to being a "little" verbose.

Your Republican operatives just can't seem to touch him. He does that Mohammad Ali thing so well.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't become an ordained minister before the election and offers to baptize any Reagan Democrats who agree to leave the Devil and join him.

dors was freed by McCain and his commandoes tonight according to Faux News. It was bloody and little confused...well with McCain in charged a lot more confused than it should have been.

I love the film from Iraq that the media always shows when they talk about the progress that has been made. You always see our troops walking around with weapons ready...among the ruins.

It looks like bombed out Europe after WW II.

There is rubble and bricks strown all over the place. There is no clean water, little electricity, broken sewer pipes, and walls around all the neighborhoods to keep the locals from easily killing each other.

Almost 5 million refugees have fled and given up hope of ever returning to their homes...or what's left of them.

This might be the new reality that Bush and the neocons made, but I wouldn't call it progress just because the locals are too tired and depressed to fight back at the moment.

A lull in the action doesn't mean the fighting is over.

Our Iraqi occupation reminds me a lot of WW I. Our troops are entrenched. They occasionally go over the top into the neighborhoods to be shot at but nobody gains any ground. Snipers, car bombs, and suicide bombers rule the streets.

It's a stalemate and it won't end until we leave after saying Mission Accomplished...which Bush did five years ago and was too stupid not to use as his exit strategy.

I'm out of here. I'm think I'm going to give it a rest for a month are two. This blog is nothing but futility.

If you can't talk to others, what's the point of coming back. I'm really disappointed that no one at the DNC apparently cares about the image it presents. If you don't care how you look; you don't care about the job you're doing.

Another Democratic Official was charged today in the North Carolina Satanic rituals case.

Another local Democratic official has been charged in a criminal case that includes allegations of sexual assault and satanic rituals.

Diana Palmer, first vice chairwoman of the Durham County Democratic Party, turned herself in to Durham police this afternoon. Palmer, 44, of Cottage Woods Court, was charged with one count of accessory after the fact of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Bill Thomas, a defense lawyer in the Duke lacrosse case, is representing Palmer and is disturbed by the accusations.

"Ms. Palmer vehemently denies any association whatsoever with a satanic cult," Thomas said this afternoon while his client was being processed at the jail. "She further denies any knowledge of a crime being perpetrated by the persons previously arrested."

15 of 18 Benchmarks Have Now Been Met in Iraq!

Iraq has met all but three of 18 original benchmarks set by Congress last year to measure security, political and economic progress, according to a report by the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad...

The embassy judged that the only remaining shortfalls were the Baghdad government's failure to enact and implement laws governing the oil industry and the disarmament of militia and insurgent groups, and continuing problems with the professionalism of the Iraqi police. All other goals -- including preparations for upcoming elections, reform of de-Baathification and disarmament laws, progress on enacting and spending Iraq's budget, and the capabilities of the Iraqi army -- were rated "satisfactory."

Congress drew up the list of 18 benchmarks early last year, based on pledges by the administration and Baghdad, and passed legislation requiring progress reports. In congressional testimony last September, Gen. David H. Petraeus, the U.S. commander in Iraq, and Ryan C. Crocker, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq, told lawmakers that about half the goals had been met.

The original legislation required no reports beyond the September testimony. More recently, the White House has maintained that the benchmarks are no longer a useful measurement of Iraq's progress. But the embassy prepared the new assessment in response to a request by Rep. Mike McIntyre (D-N.C.) to update the benchmarks.

Upon hearing this news, Democrats insisted that "solid progress" would have been made if the US had retreated in defeat.

Glad to talk with you. We have had a little rain each afternoon for the last three nights. I think our monsoon has started. Last night we had marble sized hale mixed in with the rain. Then later in the evening we had some bad lightning with a little more rain.

It is very welcome.

California is burning up. Over 500 homes are in danger of being burned when the fire comes roaring north out of the Los Padres National Forest. They have evacuated all these people. The change in weather may help contain the fire.

BERLIN - The U.S. government has done the least among the world’s eight biggest economies to address global warming, a study released Thursday found.

The G8 Climate Scorecards 2008, released Thursday ahead of next week’s gathering of the Group of Eight on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido, also found that none of the eight countries are making improvements large enough to prevent temperature increases that scientists think would cause catastrophic climate changes.

The gathering includes the heads of states of the U.S., Japan, Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Canada and Russia...

This is what the world thinks of America.

The American executive and legislative branches of government are in dire need of an aggressive purge in the form of a no-confidence referendum. Unfortunately, the American people have no such device to rid themselves of desiccated people and the interests that tell them what American national policies should be. More’s the pity, presidential candidates Barack Obama (D) and John McCain (R) have merely repackaged the status quo and are selling it as new-face-equals-new policy. None of it adds up to change and, no matter who is elected as president or which party controls congress, odds are America will be on the same course towards more war, more economic pain, more infrastructure problems, and more security intrusions into the daily routine.

There are fundamental flaws not in the constitutional construct of the United States but in the people who are occupying positions in at least two of the three branches of the US government. The executive and legislative branches, according to polls, are sincerely reviled and that means both Republicans and Democrats get equal measure of disgust. But the two parties and their interested backers simply don’t care because they know the American people have no choice but to vote for one or the other. And so the game is all about the two parties entertaining each other and those top few percent of Americans and American corporations that control over 90 percent of America’s wealth.

At fault in it all are the American people who like the main character Wesley Gibson in the thrilling movie Wanted, is willingly tied to a chair and takes punch after punch in the face until he finally “gets it.” But America today is no movie where the main character recovers. The American people need to suck it up and stop taking sucker punches before they have no blood left to bleed.

Americans need to stop listening to the myths they’ve been fed. America is not the shining light on the hill but it is an equal member of the world community.

Yes, there are foreign competitors out there and they are as good as the Americans in manufacturing, computing and aerospace. So Americans should compete with them or become part of their business systems. In this Olympic year, it’s worth noting that Americans hold just six world records in track & field competitions. They hold none in weightlifting. Americans are fat and lazy.

Happy Birthday America: A Bunch of Spoiled, Whiny Brats

Americans are crying about gas prices. A pity they can’t buy as many hot dogs or beers at the baseball stadium. They need to adjust and adapt. Americans have always been told that they are the best at everything, so why aren’t they? Americans are not entitled to anything more than the rest of the world. Do they want education systems, roads, bridges and levees that function properly? Well then they need to stop whining about taxes and pay up or make those who pay nothing pull their weight.

Do Americans really want to continue the war in Iraq and go to war with Iran and Syria - and destabilize Turkey and Pakistan - for natural resources and Israel? Well, then do it! Activate selective service, militarize one million Americans (women too) and invade ‘em all. If Americans were as tough as they think they are, they’d get it done and damn the suffering of the military families and the maimed in action. Onward with torture! Medals for Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld!

Do the American people even want the government of Jefferson, Madison, Adams, et al? With the privatization of the civilian and military functions and with their states selling off bridges and roadways for money, it seems they find government of any kind is too much of a burden.
Americans really don’t want to pay for anything and they are not accountable to or for themselves (witness Katrina). Forget the Darfur crisis. As sorry as that is, take a look at what the Americans have done in Iraq: millions displaced internally and externally and disease widespread. Americans raped Iraq and remain non-penitent for their crime.

Happy Birthday America! The founders would be appalled.

He could very well be talking about bush and cheney. There is plenty of corruption, criminality and lack of qualified leadership to go around in Washington.

chimp is up to his usual bullshit about Iran. He said we are approaching the problem diplomatically but military action is still on the table. Then he says that Iran will not be allowed to close the Hormuz straits.

This prick is losing the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and he continues to threaten war in the Persian Gulf.

We owe our souls to China, Saudi Arabia and Libya and they are probably arming these countries. Who is shipping arms to the Taliban? We need to know.

It's a big fucking game with these people.
