Big Picture Responsibilities:

The Democratic National Committee is looking to hire a few talented Digital Writers to create content for our email list and social media properties (think @TheDemocrats and @JoeBiden). In this job, you'll work daily to engage millions of Americans to support President Obama and Democrats across the country. You’ll also help build an organization to support the Democratic nominee for president in 2016, hold the GOP contenders accountable as they fight for the nomination over the next year, and elect Democratic candidates for offices up and down the ticket. Specifically, you will be responsible for planning, writing, and executing grassroots email campaigns, social media content, and copy for web properties. This is not an entry-level job, and you’ll work with senior leadership to craft our message online.

Qualifications:

  • One election cycle or 2+ years experience working in digital strategy for an electoral campaign, advocacy organization or non-profit.
  • Expert organizing and campaigning knowledge; should be familiar with digital organizing, social media, and fundraising best practices.
  • An eagle-eye for typos and errors
  • Ability to adapt to and create multiple writing tones and styles
  • Willingness to work long hours as needed
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • An addiction to political news in every format from TV to Twitter
  • Familiarity with digital and social media platforms and a sense of excitement for new innovations in online media
  • Passion for engaging millions of Americans in advancing President Obama's agenda, strengthening the Democratic Party, and winning the 2016 elections
  • Candidates must be willing to relocate to Washington, DC

Democratic Women’s Alliances (DWA) Director

Big Picture Responsibilities:

The DWA is the latest chapter in the Democratic Party’s long commitment to activating more women. It serves as the Democratic Party’s formal coalition of organizations and leaders who have made it their mission to amplify women’s voices in politics. The DWA’s primary focus is to grow and engage the number of women involved in the party at all levels from those who want to make educated decisions at the ballot box to women who decide to run for office. The DWA Director will work at the direction of the Director of Community Engagement, work with the Community Engagement team as well as DNC staff and the Women’s Caucus Chair to implement effective outreach to the four women’s entities that exist within the DNC including the Women’s Leadership Forum, ASDC, National Federation of Democratic Women and the DNC Women’s Caucus. The DWA Director is also responsible for coordinating with these groups to ensure they are working in parallel, mobilizing women voters, engaging women’s groups and alliance partners and preparing training initiatives.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee and coordinate with the four women’s entities that exist within the DNC.
  • Create content for newsletters, webinars and training initiatives.
  • Cultivate relationships with women’s organizations and facilitate involvement as it relates to Committee objectives.
  • Field calls from various women’s alliances.
  • Research and analyze women’s rights issues and trends and preparing background materials and documents.
  • Work with the DNC Women’s Caucus Chair to plan the agenda and execute the DNC Women’s Caucus Meetings
  • Staff DNC Women’s Caucus Chair at events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Engagement.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Oversee and coordinate with the four women’s entities that exist within the DNC.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science or Gender Studies (or equivalent work experience).
  • Strong interest in women’s issues.
  • Well-honed engagement and outreach skills, including at least two (2) years of campaign, organizational and/or equivalent experiences, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks successfully
  • Experience working with a state party preferred.
  • An advanced understanding of and demonstrated experience working with progressive leaders and groups.
  • Strong presentation skills.

The Democratic National Committee is looking to hire a Digital Production Assistant to help run one of the largest and most active digital programs in the country. In this position, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining beautiful webpages and elegant user experiences for Democrats across the country, getting written communications from Democratic leaders -- up to and including President Obama, Vice President Biden, and the First Lady -- to millions of Democratic supporters, and you'll be involved in the optimization and analytic operations of the Democratic Party.

This is an entry-level position, but we're looking for someone who wants to be the next Democratic digital star, and if you are willing to learn and work really long hours, we will give you the opportunity to become that. This position reports to the Director of Email, but will work with others in the Technology and Digital Departments to design and develop email and web properties.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Be on point for setting up and sending email from Democratic leaders to one of the largest supporter lists in politics.
  • Producing clean, professional user experiences on tight timelines, and with coordination across our engineering team and non-technical departments.
  • Keeping code clean, well-documented and ensuring performance across browsers.
  • Managing a variety of projects and portfolios from start to finish.
  • Assisting in the management of an email calendar, and ensuring complicated initiatives come together.
  • Analyzing and reporting the results of emails campaigns.
  • Spotting trends in our data and strategizing on how to use new information.
  • Assisting with and creating email test plans.
  • Meeting deadlines, prioritizing tasks and efficiently communicating in a busy, fast-paced environment.

About You:

  • Ability to write HTML5 and CSS3 and jQuery, and care deeply about responsive design;

Native American Community Engagement Desk
