  • Oregon Development Director

    The Democratic Party of Oregon (DPO) is seeking a high achieving, goal oriented, and exceptional individual to join our team as our Development Director.  This is a full-time salaried position with benefits located in Portland. The Development Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of the DPO’s fundraising programs. The Development Director reports to the Executive Director and works with the DPO officers, staff, elected officials, allied organizations, national partners, and key party committees to meet the organization’s fundraising goals.

    Qualifications:

    • 3-4 years of fundraising experience, preferably political fundraising
    • Strong experience with major donor fundraising programs, making direct donor solicitations, and identifying and recruiting major donor prospects
    • Must have the ability to manage staff and multiple projects simultaneously
    • Attention to detail a must
    • Computer proficiency (Mac and PC) necessary to update and maintain databases of activists, committees and volunteers
    • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet goals and deadlines in a team setting while working independently
    • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
    • Basic HTML a plus


    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute the DPO’s annual fundraising plan in consultation with the Executive Director
    • Set financial and prospecting goals for DPO’s donor base, track progress of individual donor programs, and produce quarterly analysis to review with Executive Director
    • Coordinate and oversee fundraising call time for DPO leaders and elected officials, including scheduling, preparing call sheets, pledge fulfillment, acknowledgement, etc.
    • Work with vendors and consultants to ensure ongoing success of DPO’s mail, phone, and email/online fundraising programs.
    • Work with Compliance Director to ensure compliance with Federal/State election laws that apply to fundraising
    • Plan and execute successful fundraising events
    • Prepare thank you letters, event invitations, and other mail solicitations
    • Plan and manage annual membership drive for Grassroots donors
    • Manage online fundraising programs – including planning, writing and tracking e-mail appeals
    • Recruit volunteers for tabling, phone banks, and mailings
    • Direct volunteers who research and create new fundraising prospect lists
    • Serve as staff liaison to the DPO's President’s Council (major donor circle), working closely with the Chair and Executive Director to recruit members, plan regular meetings and events, manage email communications, establish goals, and track progress
    • Work with all DPO staff on organizational projects and events as needed
