    The Democratic National Committee is looking for an Analytics Engineer to join our digital team.

    We run one of the most effective, creative, and innovative digital programs in politics, and an optimized data-driven process is core to achieving the communications, fundraising and organizing goals of the cause.

    Relevant experience includes developing and using tools for:

    • Text analytics
    • Social network/media analysis
    • Web personalization
    • Computational advertising
    • Online experiments/testing

    Ideal candidates would have a background in predictive, text and network analytics for online, web, ad and social media data and experience with digital marketing analytics.

    Required Experience:

    • B.S. degree (M.S./PhD preferred) in computer science, statistics, or related field
    • Experience in analyzing big, complicated data sets including text and social media data
    • Application of advanced statistical, and/or advanced data analytics techniques to real-world problems
    • Any SQL-based query language
    • Programming experience(C#, Java, Perl, Python, Ruby, C++)
    • Proven creativity and problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated, extensive experience (professional or academic) with any major analytics package (R, Matlab, Weka, KNIME, SAS, SPSS, KXEN, CART, Lucene, GATE etc).

  • Software Engineer

    • You care about the issues that matter to progressives and the Democratic Party – it makes the occasional long hours more fun and worthwhile

    Responsibilities:

    • Developing custom web and mobile-based applications
    • Developing internal applications to automate various systems within the DNC
    • Collaborating and integrating with technology from the state Democratic parties
    • Working with DNC sysadmins to bring your software to production
    • Working with the teams in DNC Technology & Digital departments

    Required experience:

    • At least 2 years of on-the-job experience developing web and/or mobile-based applications
    • Four-year degree in engineering, computer science, or related field preferred
    • Clear communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Experience with MVC/MTV frameworks (eg., Rails, Django, Flask)
    • Experience with unit and functional tests and integration
    • Experience with RESTful Web APIs
    • Experience deploying and administering web applications
    • Comfort and familiarity at all levels of the web application stack: operating systems, databases, application servers, CDNs, caching, etc.

    Required software:

    • Fluency and proficiency in at least one major Web application language (eg., Ruby, Python, NodeJS)
    • Proficiency with open source database systems (MySQL, SQLite, preferably PostgreSQL)
    • Proficiency with front-end languages, especially JavaScript, including HTML5 and CSS3
    • Proficiency with DVCS (Git, Mercurial)
    • Unix! Pipes and small pieces are your friends

    We run one of the most effective, creative, and innovative digital programs in politics, and our design team is core to achieving the communications, fundraising and organizing goals of the cause.

    We'll rely on our design team to create visually compelling, user-friendly and action-oriented design products to drive our multi-faceted campaigns, and to continue to grow and evolve the Democrats brand.

    We're looking for designers at a variety of levels, so whether you're a seasoned veteran or are new to the field but hoping to apply your skills to a worthy cause, we hope to hear from you.

    Required:

    • Online portfolio of work or website for review
    • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite
    • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word
    • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS
    • 1-3 years professional experience for junior position, 3-5 years for senior position
    • Must be in DC or be willing to relocate to the Washington, D.C. Area

    Preference given for experience with:

    • Usability Design/Information architecture
    • Designing info graphics
    • Designing for Political or Advocacy groups

    Other details:

    • You should be ready to work hard; this isn't a 9-5 sort of job
    • You should have the ability to work under deadline pressure and manage multiple projects
    • You should be passionate about engaging millions of Americans in advancing President Obama's agenda and changing our country for the better
