  • Video Producer

    The Video Producer will work with DNC staff to promote the President's agenda and work toward re-electing Democrats up and down the ticket through the development of video products to be released in a variety of formats.

    Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

    • Conceptualizing, writing, and editing video products
    • Distilling complex policy and political arguments into well produced products
    • Shooting video content in a number of different environments
    • Assisting with the operation of the DNC's television studio

    Skills and Qualifications:

    Candidate must have experience with non-linear editing, specifically Final Cut; strong writing skills a must; experience using a range of video equipment is strongly desired. Candidates must have excellent time management skills and the ability to work in both a collaborative environment and on their own. Candidate should demonstrate flexibility and a sense of humor while taking on a fluctuating work load in a fast-paced, high-stress environment on very tight deadlines.

  • Regional Press Secretary

    Responsibilities:

    The Regional Press Secretary will work with DNC staff, Democratic state parties, and campaigns as legally permissible to promote the President’s agenda and work toward re-electing Democrats up and down the ticket.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Drafting press releases/advisories, op-eds, and talking points.
    • Organizing press conferences.
    • Pitching story ideas to regional reporters.
    • Responding to press inquiries.

    Skills and qualifications:

    Candidate must have at least 5 years political experience, including past on-the-record experience; demonstrated flexibility and a sense of humor; strong writing skills a must. Candidates must be able to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, high-stress environment.

    This is not an entry-level position; previous press experience is required.

You will be responsible for planning, writing, and executing grassroots email campaigns using fundraising, citizen advocacy, and local organizing tactics to achieve our goals, and leading a team of expert email campaigners.

    You will work daily to engage millions of Americans to support President Obama and Democrats across the country, and coordinate with senior leadership to shape our voice.

    Qualifications:

    • 3-5 years experience on an email program for an electoral campaign, advocacy organization or non-profit; or working in a high-level position for a major digital organizing program
    • 2 years managing a national email program
    • Expert organizing and campaigning knowledge; should have deep experience with email/digital organizing, communication, and fundraising best practices
    • Experience managing a team of writers -- knows how to keep a team on track to produce email campaigns on tight deadlines
    • Must be a great editor -- can take a rough draft with a great idea and turn it into an email that can be sent out to millions of supporters
    • Keen understanding of how to recognize a great hook, how to craft emails that move people to act, and what actions will achieve the right impact at the right time
    • Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail
    • Strong, sharp, and personable writing style
    • Familiarity with online organizing platforms (e.g. Blue State Digital, Convio, ActionKit)
    • Familiarity with email list segmentation and mass mail platforms
    • Familiarity with statistical analysis and reporting
    • Ability to work well under deadline pressure
    • Ability to manage multiple complex projects
    • Passionate about engaging millions of Americans in advancing President Obama's agenda, strengthening the Democratic party, and changing the country

    Relevant experience includes developing and using tools for:

    • Text analytics
    • Social network/media analysis
    • Web personalization
    • Computational advertising
    • Online experiments/testing

    Ideal candidates would have a background in predictive, text and network analytics for online, web, ad and social media data and experience with digital marketing analytics.

    Required Experience:

    • B.S. degree (M.S./PhD preferred) in computer science, statistics, or related field
    • Experience in analyzing big, complicated data sets including text and social media data
    • Application of advanced statistical, and/or advanced data analytics techniques to real-world problems
    • Any SQL-based query language
    • Programming experience(C#, Java, Perl, Python, Ruby, C++)
    • Proven creativity and problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated, extensive experience (professional or academic) with any major analytics package (R, Matlab, Weka, KNIME, SAS, SPSS, KXEN, CART, Lucene, GATE etc).
