    Responsibilities:

    • The National Press Secretary is the primary on the record spokesperson of the Democratic National Committee to all national reporters. He or she works to develop positive relationships with members of the media and pitches short and long-term stories.
    • He or she works to develop and execute a communications plan and strategy with the communications director, deputy communications director, and research director, that assists the organization in its ultimate goal to elect Democrats up and down the ticket.
    • He or she also works to organize press events and tracks and responds to current and future Republican leaders.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum B.A. in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, Public Policy or related field.
    • 5-7 years or 3 cycles of related experience in press.
    • Excellent writing and research skills.
    • Experience with online communications and research tools.
    • Extensive social networking skills.
    • Previous on the record experience required

  • Director of African American Media/Regional Press Secretary

    Responsibilities:

    • This person is the on-the-record voice of the Democratic National Committee to all African American media organizations and is charged with amplifying the committee’s message. In addition, the Director of African American Media is tasked with a region of the country and he or she works to develop positive relationships with members of the media on a daily basis to build a connection between the news organizations and the DNC.
    • He or she works on a team with three to five other regional and constituency press secretaries to ensure that there is a cohesive message across all states. He or she does this by building relationships with state parties and with members of the press.
    • He or she maintains a strong hold on the political climate and active competitive races in his or her region and constituency to provide the rest of the communications team with an expert understanding. This person works in the states to place stories with reporters, assisting both the campaigns and the state parties, while amplifying the greater goal of the DNC.
    • This person tracks and responds to current and future GOP leaders through the planning of events in the states. He or she pitches short and long-term stories to the media.

    Requirements:

    • Minimum B.A. in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, Public Policy or related field.
    • 3 years of related experience.
    • Excellent writing and research skills.
    • Experience with online communications and research tools.
    • Social networking skills.
    • Ability to work well on a team.
    • Strong adherence to tight deadlines

  • Director of Hispanic Media/Regional Press Secretary

    • This person is the on-the-record voice of the Democratic National Committee to all Spanish language and Hispanic media organizations and is charged with amplifying the committee’s message in Spanish-language media. This person must speak Spanish and be able to draft press releases and remarks in Spanish. In addition, the Director of Spanish Media is tasked with a region of the country and he or she works to develop positive relationships with members of the media on a daily basis to build a connection between the news organizations and the DNC.
    • He or she works on a team with three to five other regional and constituency press secretaries to ensure that there is a cohesive message across all states. He or she does this by building relationships with state parties and with members of the press.

  • Tracking Associate

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    In this position, the Tracking Associate will: 

    • Create a network of trackers and volunteers they will in turn use to ensure events are tracked
    • Gather footage from volunteers and trackers on the ground to store in our archive
    • Flag news-worthy remarks
    • Track events in the state where they are stationed as well as surrounding states as needed
    • Assist in other research projects as requested

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous tracking experience preferred, experience in organizing or coordinating volunteers is a plus
    • Crucial technical skills include the ability to record and transmit digital video and a resourcefulness in making these systems work on the road
    • Possess a strong political instinct and knowledge of current political events and policy and ability to become well-versed in candidate’s statements
    • A reliable vehicle, car insurance and valid driver’s license preferred
    • Cunning attention to detail and strong organizational skills
    • Ability to take direction, ask questions and quickly learn new tasks and databases
    • Self-motivated with the ability to meet strict deadlines
    • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
    • Spanish language skills welcome

    Big Picture Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and execution of all direct marketing programs including but not limited to direct mail, telemarketing, canvassing and merchandizing for the Democratic National Committee and State Party Victory Fund.
    • Conceive, develop and manage day-to-day direct response campaigns.
    • Coordinates with the major gifts and online teams on finance programs.
    • Oversees Democratic National Committee and State Party Victory Fund brand development and creates key messages that align with goals and target audiences.
    • Develops all content for direct response programs.
    • Manages staff for the direct response programs.
    • Creates and manages timelines for all direct marketing deliverables.  
    • Responsible for managing and maintaining a balanced direct response budget.
    • Oversees customer service needs of the direct marketing program.
    • Manages detailed database for multiple programs.
    • Directs the direct marketing team with marketing materials.
    • Serves as direct marketing liaison for the Democratic National Committee.
    • Coordinate overall direct marketing efforts with other departments and goals of the Democratic National Committee.
    • Conducts research and post-analysis of initiatives to influence future direct marketing recommendations.

    Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

    • Successful history of developing effective direct marketing campaigns.
    • Excellent strategic thinking abilities.
    • Experience establishing and managing direct marketing budgets.
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with acute attention to detail. Excellent editing and proofreading skills.
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to assess processes and implement change to improve quality and efficiency.

    Requirements:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree (concentration in Marketing preferred).
    • Minimum of 10 years relevant professional experience in marketing environment in a supervisory role.
