    Big Picture Responsibilities:

    The LGBT Community Engagement Desk will work closely with the Director of Community Engagement, the Community Engagement team as well as DNC staff to and implement effective outreach to LGBT constituencies and other key groups.

    Responsibilities:

    Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Conducts stakeholder analysis, community outreach and engagement, key message development, communication planning and execution, and logistical coordination for delivery and deployment of outreach efforts.
    • Tracks planning, execution, community outreach and engagement and impact of multiple complex change initiatives.
    • Cultivates relationships with key constituencies and facilitates involvement as it relates to Committee objectives.
    • Develop and write comprehensive community engagement strategy plans for implementation.
    • Analyzing local political trends, performing necessary research and preparing background materials and documents.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Engagement.

    Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience).
    • Well-honed engagement and outreach skills, including at least three (3) years of campaign, organizational and/or equivalent experiences, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks successfully.
    • An advanced understanding of and demonstrated experience working with progressive leaders and groups.
    • Proven effectiveness to clearly communicate what is expected of key stakeholders at all levels.
    • Demonstrated competency in handling several tasks, simultaneously.
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent verbal and strong written skills.

    Position Summary

    The Democratic National Committee is seeking a Data Scientist to work with its highly-successful and innovative Digital Department as part of the Data Science team. The Data Scientist’s primary role will be to develop, deploy, and sustain tools and reports that increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the DNC’s digital programs to deepen engagement with Democratic supporters and activists, particularly in the area of online fundraising. These projects involve a variety of analytic methodologies, including machine learning and statistical models, automated reports, data visualization, and experimental testing.

    The Data Scientist will be a key member of the Data Science team that collaborates on projects across the DNC. The team is comprised of a diverse group of scientists and analysts with a range of skills and backgrounds. The Data Scientist will fulfill the responsibilities listed below, as well as bring a collaborative spirit that will strengthen and expand the overall range of abilities of the team.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the process of improving program effectiveness through data analysis and modeling
    • Optimize digital outreach and fundraising programs using statistical and machine learning models
    • Help develop and implement the long-term research plan to determine best practices through controlled experiments
    • Identify the metrics for reporting tools to track the results of Digital programs
    • Coordinate with Digital Department staff and leadership to put research findings into practice
    • Create and maintain documentation on relevant data, code, and procedures
    • Seek out opportunities for learning that will complement the team’s existing capabilities, and aid other team members in their own development through the sharing of knowledge and skills

    About You

    You should have:

    • At least 3 years of experience in positions requiring quantitative analysis of complex and diverse datasets in a political, nonprofit, academic, or business context
    • An extreme attention to detail
    • A knack for turning analytic findings into practical recommendations
    • Demonstrated proficiency in statistical programming and data analysis using Python (preferred), R, or similar languages
    • Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Vertica
    • Experience in programmatic data management, applied statistical analysis, and predictive modeling
    • The ability to initiate and manage projects independently as part of a cross-functional team
    • A talent for explaining complex subject matter to both technical and non-technical audiences
    • Proven success in learning new skills as needed to succeed in a fast-paced environment
    • A four-year degree or higher, preferably in a quantitative field (social or physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or similar)
    • A commitment to the cause of electing Democrats and furthering progressive governance at all levels

    Special consideration will be given if you have:

    • A command of Python’s data analysis tools, especially Pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn
    • Experience working with email fundraising, online advertising, or social media outreach campaigns for political or nonprofit organizations, particularly using the Blue State Digital toolkit
    • Proficiency in experimental research methods, machine learning, Bayesian statistics, data visualization, or social media analytics
    • Familiarity with distributed data processing tools such as Spark, Hive, MapReduce, and Impala
    • An understanding of the challenges involved in writing production code, such as version control, resource allocation, functional programming, resilience, and automation
    • Demonstrated abilities in writing and maintaining technical documentation

  • Revenue & Cash Staff Accountant

    General Purpose
    Perform accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of revenue and cash receipt transactions. There will be other responsibilities within the accounting department assigned on an as needed basis.

    Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Monitor all bank, merchant and revenue gateway accounts daily
    • Ensure all cash, chargebacks, and other transactions are recorded and reconciled daily
    • Review all employee reimbursements
    • Responsible for all accounts receivable functions
    • Assist in year-end accrual close
    • Prepare daily cash position report
    • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
    • Resolve any revenue/cash discrepancies
    • Prepare supporting schedules, analysis, and reports for maintenance, audits and required financial filings

    Education and Experience

    • BS in Accounting or an equivalent degree required
    • Knowledge of general accounting procedures
    • Proficient in data entry and management
    • Strong experience with Microsoft Excel
    • 2-4 years general accounting experience or 1-2 years if prior experience includes public accounting work
    • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (NAV) preferred
    • CPA preferred, but not required

  • Tracking Associate

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    In this position, the Tracking Associate will: 

    • Create a network of trackers and volunteers they will in turn use to ensure events are tracked
    • Gather footage from volunteers and trackers on the ground to store in our archive
    • Flag news-worthy remarks
    • Track events in the state where they are stationed as well as surrounding states as needed
    • Assist in other research projects as requested

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous tracking experience preferred, experience in organizing or coordinating volunteers is a plus
    • Crucial technical skills include the ability to record and transmit digital video and a resourcefulness in making these systems work on the road
    • Possess a strong political instinct and knowledge of current political events and policy and ability to become well-versed in candidate’s statements
    • A reliable vehicle, car insurance and valid driver’s license preferred
    • Cunning attention to detail and strong organizational skills
    • Ability to take direction, ask questions and quickly learn new tasks and databases
    • Self-motivated with the ability to meet strict deadlines
