Last week, Tammy Duckworth commemorated the end of the war in Iraq by writing on/in the Huffington Post about her harrowing experience in Iraq as a combat pilot. She talked about her service to veterans and the President's dedication to ensuring that Iraq and Afghanistan veterans can come home to sufficient care and support.
"President Obama kept his word to the American people by bringing the Iraq war to a responsible end, just as he's keeping his commitment to veterans by helping us find jobs when they come home."
She went on to praise the President's support of veterans, enumerating the many ways his Administration has provided. These include the following: tax credits for businesses that hire unemployed and disabled veterans; reform of government programs that transition veterans into private-sector jobs; providing for veterans medical care to always be funded one year in advance; and making it easier for veterans to go back to college with the post-9/11 G.I. Bill.
