Black History Month 2012

Posted by Kimberly Marcus on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 11:07 a.m. ET

Each February, Black History Month honors the struggles and triumphs of millions of African Americans as well as their contribution to national, cultural and political life. During this month we recognize the extraordinary achievements of African Americans and their essential role in shaping the story of America.

This month, Americans around the country will celebrate the determination and contributions that African Americans have made to our nation. This year, we will not only celebrate the champions of the past but also the leaders and changemakers of today.

Throughout the month, we will highlight members of the DNC Black Caucus on our site. We will share the stories of these individuals who are on the ground fighting for the President’s vision through their work.
