Barack Obama
  • Michelle Obama: “Barack needs your help”

In advance of the FEC's End of Quarter deadline, First Lady Michelle Obama sent the following email to supporters encouraging them to get involved.

You're never more important than you are at times like these, and here's why.

When Barack is in a tough negotiation with Republicans in Congress, he needs to know that his supporters are with him -- that you're ready to do whatever it takes.

So here's the thing: if you chip in to support Democrats before the critical fundraising deadline on Monday, you won't just be building an organization that can help elect Democrats who are going to support Barack. You're showing Barack that you're in his corner -- that you've got his back.

And right now, with all that's happening, that really matters.

Chip in $3 or more to support Barack and his Democratic allies:

    Thanks,

    Michelle

P.S. -- So much is at stake right now. Please chip in before Monday at midnight.

  • Welcome to Michigan: Mackinac 2013

This weekend Bobby Jindal, Scott Walker, Karl Rove and Rand Paul will attend the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference in Michigan. As they head to Michigan it’s important to remember what they thought of President Obama's decision to help Michigan when it was in trouble. Just 4 years ago, America’s auto industry was on the verge of collapse but President Obama refused to let them go bust despite staunch opposition from many of the same Republicans who will descend on Michigan for the Michigan Republican Party’s annual retreat this weekend. While they are there hoping no one will remember how they turned their backs on the American people, President Obama will be in Claycomo, Missouri, visiting a Ford plant to highlight the auto recovery and how it has helped our broader economic recovery. Today, the American auto industry is once again thriving—thanks to President Obama's leadership, and certainly no thanks to these extreme Republican leaders.
  • Celebrating 50 Years Since The March on Washington

Today, 50 years after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and proclaimed his dream for an equal America, we recognize the courage and strength that the leaders of the civil rights movement endured. Following the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, Democrats fought for the passage of the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights act, taking the biggest steps for equal rights in generations. Today, Democrats reflect on the past and promise to continue to fight every day for equality and opportunity for all, to make sure that we do not forget the legacy of Dr. King and his fellow civil rights leaders.

  • The question is not whether we need to act. The question is whether we will have the courage to act before it’s too late. – President Obama on Climate Change
  • "When all Americans are treated as equal, no matter who they are or whom they love, we are all more free." — President Obama on the Supreme Court striking down the Defense of Marriage Act – President Barack Obama
  • Climate change is real

Today, President announced a comprehensive plan to slow the effects of climate change by cutting carbon pollution in our country, preparing our nation for the impacts of climate change, and leading the international effort to address climate change around the world. The President’s plan embraces an all-of-the-above approach to address this issue in a way that will simultaneously advance our economy, develop home-grown energy, safeguard public health, and protect our environment. America has led the world in technology and innovation for generations, and the fight to combat climate change should be no different.
