The Senate, having just passed the bipartisan compromise legislation on middle class tax cuts, unemployment benefits, and jobs, now sends this bill to the House of Representatives. Chairman Tim Kaine released the following statement praising the Senate for acting to keep our economy moving forward, and encouraging the House to do the same.
I applaud the Senate for their swift action on this critical bill. Across America, millions of middle class families are anxiously awaiting full approval of President Obama’s framework tax agreement – an agreement that will prevent tax increases for working families, extend critical unemployment benefits for Americans who lost their jobs through no fault of their own, and make it easier for families to provide for their children and send them to college.
The passage of this bill will be a victory not only for millions of working families, but also for American businesses and our economy as a whole - it will stoke demand, boost job growth, and strengthen our economic recovery. To that end, I urge the House to pass this legislation as quickly as possible, and to send this bill to the President for his signature.
