Yesterday, President Obama recorded a message to thank supporters for knocking on doors, making calls, and giving all they had to make a difference in this election. While Tuesday’s results were disappointing, there is also much to be proud of. Over the course of the 2010 campaign, supporters reached out to over 80 million voters and got hundreds of thousands involved, many for the first time.
Delivering on change isn’t always easy, but as the President explained, we can't let that discount the difference we’ve made or discourage us from moving forward.
“Don’t ever let anybody tell you that your efforts don’t matter, or that your voice doesn’t count. Don’t ever believe that you can’t make a difference, because you have. Because of you there’s a woman in New Hampshire who no longer has to choose between losing her home and treating her cancer. Because of you there are small business owners who can keep their doors open, and parents who can look their children in the eye and telling them they’re going to college. Because of you there are nearly 100,00 brave men and women who are no longer at war in Iraq. That’s because of you. I’m asking you once again what I’ve asked of you from the moment we began this journey. I’m asking you to believe, not just in my ability to bring about change, but in yours.”
