Celebrating 40 Years of Title IX

Posted by

As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of Title IX, it’s important to remember the important role it played in advancing the rights of women and girls. Because of its passage more women are participating on athletic teams, pursuing higher education, and entering the fields of science and technology than ever before. By passing measures such as the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act, working to make higher education even more accessible, and signing the Affordable Care Act into law, President Obama and the Democratic Party are building upon the work of Title IX.

In honor of this progress and in recognition of the work still to be done, yesterday the White House Council on Women and Girls hosted an event celebrating the opportunities Title IX made possible. Click here to check out the exciting announcements made at the event designed to expand and enforce Title IX for women across the country.
