Today is the official launch of Veterans and Military Families for Obama. As a veteran, it's clear to me that for the past three years, the Obamas and the Bidens have worked hard to improve the lives of American veterans and military families, and I'm proud to support our commander-in-chief, President Obama, in this election.
President Obama has shown leadership by bringing the war in Iraq to an end, by refocusing our efforts on Al Qaeda, and by beginning to draw down our presence in Afghanistan. The President has supported veterans at home by increasing funding for veterans’ health care programs, by signing legislation like the VOW to Hire Heroes Act, and by signing the Post-9/11 GI Bill. He has kept veterans in mind with every proposal he has made, and he will continue to make sure veterans are given the respect and dignity they have earned.
First Lady Michelle Obama has made supporting military families one of her top priorities, and the Biden family’s personal experiences as a military family give them firsthand experience when it comes to the unique concerns and challenges that affect military families. The First Lady and Dr. Biden have toured military bases to meet with military families and learn about the challenges they face. They have shown tremendous leadership as advocates for military families: Their Joining Forces initiative, in particular, has helped to publicize the challenges these families face, and it has motivated citizens and businesses alike to lend their support to military families.
Just as the Obamas and the Bidens have had our backs these past few years, we need to let them know that we have their backs in this election. Join us in showing your support for President Obama and Vice President Biden by joining Veterans and Military Families for Obama and by sharing the launch video above with your friends and families today.
