Last week President Obama introduced his plan to get America working again through the American Jobs Act. We went through the plan to find out how this legislation would benefit women and their families—here's what we found:
The American Jobs Act includes the Pathways Back to Work initiative, which will provide training and employment opportunities to women coming from low-income backgrounds.
The President’s plan will also cut payroll taxes in half for more than 900,000 women-owned small businesses.
Additionally, the plan supports education by allotting $30 billion to prevent up to 280,000 teacher layoffs and improve the infrastructure of schools throughout the country. This segment of the American Jobs Act is especially important for women, who make up 78 percent of pre-K to 12th-grade teachers.
