DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz released the following statement on Andrea Mitchell’s announcement that she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Today is Women’s Equality Day, the anniversary of the 19th Amendment in 1920, which gave women the right to vote. In recognition of that occasion, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz issued the following statement.

Washington, DC –DNC Interim Chair Donna Brazile released the following statement in recognition of National Equal Pay Day: "National Equal Pay Day is a reminder that we must redouble our commitment to the basic principle of equal pay for equal work. That’s a commitment President Obama has taken to heart."

During the past century, women throughout the world have made enormous gains – from winning the right to vote and holding elected office to earning greater equality in the workplace and society. Still, there is a great deal of progress to be made. In too many places, women remain underrepresented in decision-making positions in government and business.

“This month, I join with Americans across the country in remembering the countless ways that women have shaped American history and to honor women who are helping to write new chapters of our American story."

Chairman Tim Kaine commends outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her historic service to the American people as Speaker over the last four years, fighting to "to increase the minimum wage, expand college aid, enhance and improve services for veterans and boost fuel efficiency standards. Her leadership in passing the Recovery Act, Affordable Care Act, Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act, expansion of health care for children, Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, Wall Street reform and other key legislation ensure that her term as Speaker will be remembered as a time when the foundation was established for an era of greater progress, security, justice, fairness and prosperity for the American people."
