“It is my great pleasure to congratulate Congresswoman-elect Katherine Clark on her winning campaign. Tonight's victory is a testament to Katherine’s strength as a candidate and the bond she has with the voters of the Fifth District of Massachusetts.
“During the campaign, Katherine made it very clear that she would fight to protect women’s reproductive rights and against the extremism that has taken root in the Republican Party. Katherine is a strong advocate for women's equality including expanded access to basic health care services, including free preventive care, and will work toward achieving paycheck fairness. These are issues that inspire me and I am honored to now call her a colleague in Washington.
“Today is also an important victory for women in politics. Katherine is now the fifth woman ever to represent Massachusetts in Congress. Clearly the voters of the Bay State have learned that they get exemplary service from the women who represent them in Washington. I have no doubt Katherine will continue that tradition.”
