Following the announcement that Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed won his race for reelection, Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz released this statement:
“The reelection of Mayor Kasim Reed is proof that the city of Atlanta rewards hard work and real-world results. When he first ran four years ago, Mayor Reed committed to promoting economic opportunity. Thanks to creative innovations like the “Hire One Campaign,” the mayor has made good on that promise, and Atlanta is one of the nation’s leaders in job growth.
“Here at the DNC, we were so impressed by Mayor Reed’s leadership that earlier this year I named him to our executive committee.
“I congratulate Mayor Reed and his campaign for their victory today. And I congratulate the city of Atlanta on choosing a Democratic leader who fights for working families and who works with both parties to find common ground on policy that has a positive impact on the lives of Atlanta residents.”
