DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s Statement on Passing of Congressman Ike Skelton

“I was saddened to learn of the passing of my friend and former colleague, Congressman Ike Skelton.

“During the 34 years he served in Congress, he was known for his kind and gracious nature and his character. As Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Ike fought to ensure the safety and security of all Americans, including the brave men and women who defend our freedom around the globe.

“I have fond memories of traveling with Ike around his Congressional district, hosting him in my district in South Florida and working with him here in Washington to advance the needs of America’s service members and veterans. I know his loss will be felt by the people of Missouri where he was a devoted servant and where his years of service continue to benefit millions. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Patty, their family, and friends.”
