WOW, I watched the first briefing today by president-elect Barack Obama and realized that for the first time in eight years I am going to be able to listen to what the president of the United States has to say without testing my gag reflex!!
Watch this crap, if you can, and ask yourself: with laws on the books that prevent people from being able to hurt themselves or others, should any of these people be walking America's streets. Also we must ask why these people shouting death threats toward Barack Obama have not been arrested. Sorry, but you are not allowed to threaten someone's life in this county (at least not yet). Here is the video, let us pray like the narcissistic Christian right that this is just fiction.

For the past few weeks I have taken upon myself the responsibilities asked of me by my party, the Democratic Party to download call lists for the swing state of Pennsylvania and make calls hoping I could talk to the PA voters and get them to understand why I believe the United States is in trouble and how I believe that Barack Obama is the leader that we need to bring the US out of this devastation. I was absolutely horrified by the responses I received. “I’m not interested”, “Oh no, we don’t vote”, and “We’re republicans”.
Allow me to translate what I believe I heard during these phone calls:
“I’m not interested”: I have no children, grandchildren, or family and never expect to. Furthermore, I have no friends and if I do I don’t care about there children or family either.
“Oh no, we don’t vote”: But we demand that we have rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States that we have never read and don’t intend to.
“We’re republicans”: Although I do identify myself on my calls as a volunteer for the Obama/Biden campaign, I never give any indication that I am unwilling to listen to opposing points of view, and wish to be given the opportunity to debate.
I will continue to make calls, and I would love for anyone to join me.

I'm sorry, I thought I read somewhere that this blog had a moderator. If this is the case, could you please have the webmaster of this site remove the "also listed in" part of the blog? It is very redundant and quite a space waster.
Another very annoying thing is when the same person posts over and over again pushing everyone else’s posts out of view before anyone gets to read them. There maybe more than one person on this site that has something to say, or pertinent information to pass along.
I wonder if this is being done purposely in order to make sure know one gets heard, or if it is just a selfish battle to earn the most points without regard for the real purpose of "Party Builder"

Although I do understand where you are coming from with this statement, I cannot possibly agree. Complacency is not and never has been an option. This sounds to me very much like a slogan that came out during the Viet Nam war : America, love it or leave it! This is our country and our home. Our slogan needs to be “America, love it or change it!” In my very humble opinion, if you don’t agree with someone you should, in an adult manor, let them know why. This is what leads to discussion and compromise. Just maybe, if you really listen, the person you disagree with will show you something you hadn’t considered.

The idea is that if know one can agree on anything there will never be unity and never be a threat to the reigning power which in turn gives them the freedom to assert their ideals with absolutely no recourse. We need to end this now by choosing to argue wisely and by listening to each other. Ignoring anyone will just continue to perpetuate the current horror.

Here is an article in the Ancorage Daily News that talks about the banned books. It contains acctual interviews with the librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons by her her hometown newspaper, the Frontiersman. There does not appear to be a factual list and though I whole heartedly belive she did try to ban books, I also believe the lists going around are fictional and posting this information as fact just brings us down to their level.

I understand that there is commonly a surge in the polls right after a political convention, however historically it’s not been in favor of the opposition. Go Obama!!!

I promised my neighbor and best friend that I would watch the RNC with an open mind. She asked this of me because I asked her to watch the DNC with an open mind. She did and I did. Actally, we watched together. I am happy to report that after suffering through watching thousands of overweight, ignorant, gastropods chanting "drill baby drill", she has seen the light. I had already orderd Obama/Biden signs for my front lawn and she asked if I would place one in her front lawn. The moral of this story is that neither of us tried to influence each other with our political views, we just asked each other to listen. I am not claiming victory for her choosing my side, I am claiming victory for the people I believe in being able to convey their position in a way that makes people want to listen and believe.
I am floored by the idea that almost half of all Americans think that the current republican choice for president and vice president are even remotely acceptable. My faith in human intelligence is seriously challenged.
I think Lieberman has taught us tonight the importance of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer. Lieberman has given the term "turncoat" a whole new meaning. My hope at this point is that this will end his useless political career and get him out of our face and lives for good.

OK I am still trying to watch with an open mind but it is not going to happen. I think that Joe Lieberman is having mental issuses. This man needs help. Lets not pick on this poor soul, we need to pity him and pray for his redemption.
OK, I have tried to watch the coverage of the RNC convetion but I just can't. The're showing footage of old Reagan videos. Are tyranicl empires supposed to appeal to us as Americans??? How can Laura Bush not feel embarassed to get on stage and talk positivly about her ignorant husband that has lost the respect of every thinking human around the world.

I just heard Sarah Palin announce that she will be proud to serve next to the next president of the United States. Someone needs to tell her that Barack already has a running mate!!
