Exposing the GOP’s rewriting of their own history.

Ok folks I can no longer stand by and let the Republicans distort their own history; I am going to try to set the record straight in regards to the Republican Convention this week. Now before we go on full disclosure, I am a Democrat but will try to keep my own politics out of this blog. The purpose of this particular blog is to point out the distortions and misinterpretations of the RNC Convention. The whole purpose of a political convention is to rally the party delegates together for the last leg of the election. It’s always over the top and a little bit crazy. Be as that may there is no excuse to deliberately lie and rewrite the last seven years. Case in point, the Republicans have been in power Twenty years out of the last Twenty-eight years, but if you listen to them its like this is the first time in years that they have had a chance. All of a sudden their party is the party of mavericks and reform. The Bush administration and the Republican house have rolled back all of the reforms of the last three administrations. You can’t run a country in 2008 on 1950 ideals. They also love to throw around the phrase “the do nothing Congress” well it’s hard to pass legislation when the President vetoes everything that comes down the pipe. No President in history has used the veto pen as much as he has. Since when has the Republican Party been about reform and fighting the “Washington way”? The GOP is the living embodiment of Washington politics. For proof of that, just look at the last seven years of closed door meetings and mismanagement. How many corruption and bribery scandals have there been in this Republican administration over the past seven years. Furthermore this election is to the executive branch, not the legislature. They say that Obama will enlarge the government and raise the “working man’s” taxes. But the government has not been so bloated and over reaching in the last fifty years. The liberty of the people is not some far out left wing idea; it is the way of this country. The tax raise’s that they say Obama will infelt upon us are noting more than closing all of the corporate tax holes that the last administration put on the books. Now I think John McCain is a great man, his time as a P.O.W makes him a badass, BUT NOT A PRESIDENT. I wish the GOP would stop using that as some sort of yardstick for leadership of the country. Only in liberal Hollywood does that make any since. If you truly what change then why in God’s name do vote for someone who vote’s with President Bush eighty percent of the time? The answer is that they are trying to hijack the overall message of change. I have to also point out that those so called “Greek” columns that were on the Obama stage, you know the ones the Republicans are throwing such a fit about. Well President Bush had the same ones behind him for the 2004 Republican Convention. I am also perplexed that all of a sudden the idea of community service is a waste of time and does not count as experience. Did the GOP not canceled their first night of festiveness’ in the name of community service? The sad fact is the GOP knows that it has no legs to stand on this time around. They are reverting back to their old tricks of misdirection and that old classic fear to hold on and stay the course. To bad for us that course leads to nowhere.
