I was out til 2 am hanging doorknob reminders on doors of likely Obama supporters in Virginia. We are going to win Virginia. We need to win in a landslide.
Let's get 'er done!
There are several resources that you can use to report problems at polling places. Here are a few ways to do it:
To report a problem or for general elections/voting questions:
Call: 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683)
Email: help@866ourvote.org
Twitter the problem: http://www.866ourvote.org/page?id=0057
ACLU Voting Rights Project: 877-523-2792
A few basics to help you out:
1. Bring ID. A driver's license or voting card are best. A passport or military ID are also good. Some places will also take a phone or utility bill with your name and address on it (you need to check your local laws). Some states (like Virginia) will allow you to vote without ID if you are not a first-time voter and if you sign an "Affirmation of Identity".
2. If you are not on the voting list, ask the poll worker to call the general registrar to double-check if you are on the official list.
3. If all else fails, state that you want to cast a provisional ballot.
Did John McCain kill someone with his car while he was a young Lieutenant in the Navy?
For the past two months, a major American magazine and an allied news service have been engaged in a legal battle with the United States Navy over records that they believe show that John McCain once was involved in an automobile accident that injured or, perhaps, killed another individual.
Vanity Fair magazine and the National Security News Service claim to have knowledge "developed from first-hand sources" of a car crash that involved then-Lt. McCain at the main gate of a Virginia naval base in 1964, according to legal filings. The incident has been largely, if not entirely, kept from the public. And in documents suing the Navy to release pertinent information, lawyers for the NS News Service allege that a cover-up may be at play.
Former Sen. Larry Pressler (R-S.D.), who was the first Vietnam veteran to serve in the United States Senate, is the latest Republican to back Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign.
Pressler "cited the Democrat's response to the financial crisis as the primary reason for his decision."
"I just got the feeling that Obama will be able to handle this financial crisis better, and I like his financial team of [former Treasury Secretary Robert] Rubin and [former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul] Volcker better," he said. By contrast, John McCain's "handling of the financial crisis made me feel nervous."
...Obama had a choice at that moment. He could thank Petraeus for the briefing and promise to take his views "under advisement." Or he could tell Petraeus what he really thought, a potentially contentious course of action — especially with a general not used to being confronted. Obama chose to speak his mind. "You know, if I were in your shoes, I would be making the exact same argument," he began. "Your job is to succeed in Iraq on as favorable terms as we can get. But my job as a potential Commander in Chief is to view your counsel and interests through the prism of our overall national security." Obama talked about the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan, the financial costs of the occupation of Iraq, the stress it was putting on the military.
...Petraeus said he understood that Obama's perspective was, necessarily, going to be more strategic. Obama said that the timetable obviously would have to be flexible. But the Senator from Illinois had laid down his marker: if elected President, he would be in charge. Unlike George W. Bush, who had given Petraeus complete authority over the war -- an unprecedented abdication of presidential responsibility (and unlike John McCain, whose hero worship of Petraeus bordered on the unseemly) -- Obama would insist on a rigorous chain of command.

Al Qaeda has endorsed John McCain.
The terrorist organization has determined that John McCain would be the best U.S. president to lead our country further into economic decline. Opinions were posted on several Al Qaeda web sites.
Remember when the right-wing lied about Al Qaeda endorsing John Kerry four years ago? They were outraged at Kerry. So, how do they feel about McCain securing this endorsement? (And this time, it is in writing.)
A vote for McCain = a vote for Terrorism.
Republican support for McCain crumbles, while major Republican leaders endorse Obama.
Recent endorsements by Republican leaders: Colin Powell, Ken Adelman, Sen. Richard G. Lugar, Rep. Wayne Gilchrest, Rear Admiral John Hutson (Ret., former JAG)
Socialist endorsements: Warren Buffet, Ben Bernanke (Fed Chair), Google CEO Eric Schmidt, Paul A. Volcker (Reagan's Fed Chair), Rep. Wayne Gilchrest (former chair of SEC under Bush), Paul O'Neill (Treasury Sec. under Bush), David Ruder (chair of SEC under Reagan and Bush I)
Other rogues: Susan Eisenhower, Jim Leach, Lincoln Chafee

In an ironic twist, we find that Joe the Plumber actually owes taxes.
In addition, the union The United Association, which includes Plumbers and Pipe Fitters, has endorsed Barack Obama for president. That's right, the plumber's union has endorsed Obama.
Oops. A few hours later McCain flip-flopped and said we had a financial crisis on our hands.
Now, McCain wants to study the economy. Since he flunked economics at the Naval Academy, maybe McCain should do some studying. But launching a government study is the typical republican method for delaying action. Bush launched a study on climate change and look how much action he's taken in that regard.
It is ironic that McCain wants to launch a commission in the style of the 9/11 Commission, a group that he opposed.
McCain is a one-issue candidate: War. He is a fish out of water with respect to the economy. A self-admitted economic ignoramus, McCain has no business discussing the topic. He is constantly winging it in an area where he has no knowledge. And Palin is even worse -- her economic experience is limited to taking a village of 7,000 that had a balanced budget and levying a $20 million debt on it.
As I recently saw on a page soliciting ideas for bumper stickers:
Bush put the Economy in the Toilet; McCain will Flush it.

Robinson highlights McCain's ineptness regarding basic economics. Also, Robinson shows how McCain's idiotic recent statements demonstrate that McCain is not only ignorant of how our economy works, but McCain is also willing to reverse himself on a daily or hourly basis as he figures out that he had just said something stupid.
McCain on Monday: "the fundamentals of our economy are strong"
McCain on Tuesday: "We cannot have the taxpayers bail out AIG or anybody else."
"ad_icon
McCain quickly changed his tune, saying the government was 'forced' to rescue AIG..."
"If he had any idea what he was talking about -- if he had any inkling of how big AIG is, or how central the company has become -- then why on earth would he have taken a stand against a bailout in the first place?"
"McCain is running against his own record... McCain backed landmark legislation in 1999 that removed the walls between banks, investment firms and insurance companies. That bill allowed a company like AIG to expand beyond its traditional insurance business..."
"McCain, who told the Wall Street Journal in March that 'I'm always for less regulation,' now asks voters to believe he will be a champion of tough, unblinking oversight."
And the clincher: "McCain supports George W. Bush's idea of channeling at least some Social Security funds into "personal accounts" that individuals would invest on Wall Street."
The Obama campaign should take that final point and blast it all over the TV, radio, and Internet.
So that Ms. Palin may have hope for being clear-eyed in the future, I would like to take up a collection to help her fund plastic surgery that will correct her eyelid problem. It just may help her vision.
Apparently the Repukes are chanting "zero zero zero" -- they say it is the combined years of "executive" experience that is on the Democratic ticket.
My answer is to shout back "One point five" -- which is the combined number of years of "executive" experience on the McLame ticket. Please say that Palin has 1.5 years of experience. That is how long she has been governor.
OK, maybe a tad over that, but she has not been governor for two years as she claims, and everyone else repeats -- including the mainstream media and lefties.
Let's be true here, it's 1.5. (They round up. so we can round down and be more accurate. Plus, I think it is catchy.)
One Point Five. One Point Five. ONE POINT FIVE!
Another flip-flop heard 'round the world, brought to you by the RNC.
There is an article on the front page of today's Washington Post stating that McCain wants to "green" the government ("McCain Has Plan to Make Government More Green" http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/06/24/AR2008062401412.html?hpid=topnews). What McCain proposes is easily recognizable as green-washing.
McCain has proposed several things that are visibly green. However, you have to look at McCain's big picture. When he wants to drill for oil off of our coasts, cut the gas tax to pander to consumers, and increase production of corn-based ethanol (see his most recent energy ad), McCain shows his true stripes. He also loves nuclear power, which he says is "clean", yet he does not address how to handle the highly radioactive nuclear waste.
The most telling data is McCain's long-standing, poor environmental voting record. The non-partisans source for this data is the League of Conservation Voters -- check out McCain's meager environmental record here:
http://capwiz.com/lcv_stage/bio/keyvotes/?id=192&congress=1102&lvl=C
McCain loves to talk about his record. Well, here we can see his record: McCain generally ranges under 50% -- a failing grade.
John McCain -- an enemy of the environment.
So, does his latest statement mean that Mr. Bush (an admitted alcoholic and possible cocaine addict) wants to continue to feed our addiction? What does his "higher power" have to say about that?

Hillary, your latest stupid gaffe regarding Bobby Kennedy shows that you are not presidential. If you have to go back and explain "what you really meant," then you are an ineffective orator. It does not matter what you really meant -- it matters what you say, how you say it, and how people receive it.
You "misspoke" at least three times about your treacherous corkscrew landing in Bosnia, running along the tarmac as snipers put you in their cross hairs -- oh wait, actually you held a little girl's hand and walked and waved to the crowd. That is not misspeaking -- that is exaggerating to make yourself look grander than you are (some would call it lying).
How many times has this happened in your campaign? How many times has Bill said something really stupid that you had to then go back and explain?
If you were the president, these misstatements would only grow worse. You would have to keep Bill muzzled and leashed to keep his mouth from running off course. And all of the gaffes and lies that you and Bill would tell would become fodder for the Right Wing Conspiracy. There would be so much distraction and noise over the idiotic verbiage coming out of your White House that you would be mired in muck and would not be able to get anything done.
We have had 8 years of a moron in office who can't speak proper English. We don't need 4-8 years of your bizarre misstatements. We need a president who speaks clearly and eloquently so that his or her ideas can be translated into action -- not into Saturday Night Live skits. Please, give it up. You have proven that you are not presidential.
McCain's flip-flop was astonishing -- he recently stated that U.S. troops might be in Iraq for the next 100 years.
Rightwingers have long been whining that a timetable (any timetable at all) would embolden terrorists and be a blueprint for defeat. Liberals have argued that the Bush administration has already been carrying out a blueprint for defeat in Iraq by getting everything about the war wrong, from the initial reasons for the invasion to the prosecution of the war.
As a result of McCain's timetable, will terrorists just sit back and wait for 2013 before striking? Will insurgents feel appeased? Will bin Laden take a vacation? Or, will the government of Iraq finally grow up and take responsibility for their own country?
You've surely experienced that party guest who stays until the very end and just does not know when to leave? You hint, you urge, and still they stay and stay. You tell them you are tired and need to clean up, yet they still stay and offer to help with the dishes. But, you don't want help with the dishes -- you just want that party guest to leave.
Well, Hillary, you have become the guest who does not know when to leave. You are a guest of the Democratic Party and your presence on the campaign trail is no longer helpful to the party. Please (hint hint) just graciously excuse yourself and go. It is getting to be embarrassing.
