Vote RELIEF first! Nothing else will do...
About the Author
Choose to be relief for others, doing the very best you can. I believe the issues touched on in Matthew 25:31-46 should be a driving force for our choices in elections. To get down to the nitty-gritty... if we are taking care of relief, THEN we can worry about single issue politics.

I was asked to sign a form yesterday at a specialists office, agreeing to pay charges that the insurance company did not pay.

This is over and above normal copays.

The idea of preferred provider networks and health maintenance networks is that the insurer effectuates an agreement with the provider that certain procedures will be covered at a certain rate, and no more can be charged to the customer.

Our physicians can no longer afford to take insurance payments.

It is time for that paradigm shift. The insurance companies are now out of control.

Tell everyone you can. It's time we formed a union against the problems these money grabbers are causing.

Democratic representatives, ARE YOU LISTENING?

I am so sick of the infighting, and now we have another large organization claiming that we are going to lose our party over the superdelegates!

LISTEN UP people! Our party is strong! This is just the nomination battle! They will make a strong team when it's all said and done. Quit assuming you won't be heard!

Believe me... I know, and thousands of others know, that if you aren't heard, you and thousands of others who agree with you will rebel! It won't just be the end of the party, It will probably be the end of progress!

Don't we think our leaders know that? Are they ALL that bad? If we can't trust them, what the hell ARE we doing?

I don't want that! You don't want that. We have to work together to achieve the change we need. We MUST work together to get RELIEF...

Please, don't tell me you don't believe we can work together... Don't tell me you will only work with me if someone specific is elected... We need you at the grassroots level. We need change from the bottom up, not the top down! Tell your local representatives what you expect, what you need, and how to achieve that effect!

In response to Baldor's (Shopman's) question - "what do you choose?"... I had a very long response.

http://www.democrats.org/page/community/post/Martys%20Blog/CpVv#comment-gGB34M

I choose peace. I choose basic rights for everyone, thereby providing relief to the most people in the most comforting fashion possible. It is not the candidate who campaigns that is the solution to these problems, it is our demand that these solutions become part of our national fabric (*smile* - our security blanket, if you will).

I choose to ask every candidate to take a stand for basic rights. I choose to ask for something easy, to start. I asked my county candidates for commissioner to start at the grassroots, by rearranging property taxes in such a way that 600 square feet of every residence is exempted from tax. A home is a basic right.

I choose to ask state candidates for legislature to take a step toward basic communication. A landline to every residence is a basic right. It will save so much effort on the part of society to reach those who need to be reached. It will open up the job market to those who need jobs.

I choose to ask my state legislators to consider out of the box solutions for social issues. There are too many left out. Quit wasting time and money turning people away from help. Let people opt out of help instead of begging for it! Let people get help and they won't have to worry someone is going to lock them up and throw away the key!

If we have basic rights, we don't have to worry about Social Security... We are socially secure.

If we have basic health care, we don't have to worry about Medicare/Medicaid... we have national health care.

If we have basic transportation and basic communication, we don't have to worry about joblessness due to inability to get to work in a timely fashion or timely calls.

Our social fabric will be so much stronger.    Read More »
A comment I made on my local blog, regarding whether Nebraska could ever vote in the Democratic column in November... Here's why...

*[new] I think that Nebraska turning blue may be a real possibility this year... (0.00 / 0)
I just went and voted all these years, not interested at all in being INVOLVED! There are many more like me, and they are AGREEING with me!

When the show "Dimming the Sun" appeared on NOVA, I became interested in changing the way we think!

A possibility of no sunlight reaching the earth within 10 years (the show aired on ETV in 2006)?

A bottle of water will be more valuable than gold.

We must vote to change the way Washington thinks. We must vote to change the way Nebraska thinks (easier, I think, than changing Washington's viewpoint - because Nebraskans already think differently -).

We are common sense, down to earth people. Our candidates merely need to say this, "Whatever problem I face for you, I will solve it with this in mind - 'The most relief, for the most people, in the most comforting way possible'.

Who can possibly disagree with that? When you save tax dollars by saying, we will spend this dollar now, and we won't have to spend 15,000 dollars later. Or if you say, we won't count people like an efficiency expert.

We would rather cover 25 people for $30 and have the whole $30 returned to the state, than cover 20 people for $20 and only see $10 returned to the state.

It's way too easy for the Republican to say "tax and spend", but not offer any relief.

It's time we showed our moral colors, and they're BLUE!
A PB friend wrote me, after one of my blog posts, I thought this was important enough to share with all of you, and I share it with my friend's blessing. It's worthwhile to remember that it isn't the people who are gods... they just do their best to let their lives be a shining example of the ENERGY within. Obviously, we don't always hold RELIEF up as a goal...

Her name is Molly. She was one of my many blessings.

I agree that Jesus does not appear very well represented in our candidates, but we must pray that God will meet them where they are. Their choice to be democrats is a strong start, because we believe in equality, and making the best effort to get there. You and I will keep reminding them of their duty to relief, and that taking the most effective route to relief is the most healthy (economically, socially, morally and individually the least stressful) as well.

Realizing that God does meet people where they are, and that there is no requirement to reach a certain level in order to acheive great things for Him, we are left with faith in Him only.

Thanks for your well wishes! I hope God will give you a free (puppy) blessing, just as Molly was for me. I love to tell her story. She was with a family that kept her kenneled 16 hours a day. They realized they could not care for her properly. They gave me a years worth of medicine, had her shots all updated, gave me her food, her kennel, her leashes and her toys. All free.

Praise the Lord!

Hugs!

Karen

i am sorry to say, that after hil wouldn't forgive the monster quote and barack wouldn't give up on our elder minority candidate geraldine, although she is senile, i just don't see Jesus in our Christian candidates. I can be shy, but I can be graceful. i am liberal. God bless you, today, Karen.

p.s. my late dog, barky, was black and white. please tell me what your dog's name is!!!!

Thank you Mr. Bill for your post! I was intrigued enough by it to see what a change in the way we think could achieve...

My assumptions and calculations are dependent on a paradigm shift, a total makeover of society’s ideas of what basic rights really are. The ability to have necessities of life, without expecting to pay for the privelege.

Working is considered the same as gathering food and firewood. Volunteer work, wisdom, teaching, non-profits all have value in society.

Guaranteeing an education is one of our fundamental rights. Guaranteeing teachers a basic life, has to be.

One of the things I learned when I worked for the schools, is that teachers are paid as partial year employees. It is one thing that rankles me.

Teachers once were as valued to the community as a doctor, or pastor. So valued, the community would provide a home, food, fuel for the fireplace and woodstove, furnishings, and invitations to community goings-on. Yes, there were some archaic things, such as the teacher had to remain unmarried, but they were still highly respected individuals.   Read More »
I watch the Republican mindset, mostly locally, on how government should run... "like a successful business...", with good budgeting, and "a tight ship." And one of my recent personal favorites, "...if we don't allow elected officials and employees to do business with the city, we discourage good business people from public service."

To that end, we need to give the nation's money to those "who know how to save a dime." They've made money, so they must KNOW how to spend it...   Read More »

I am a blogger on the DNC website. I would love to see you put out a "memo" requesting that your supporters let you fight the battle. They are, along with Obama's supporters, getting into very personal attacks against the other candidate, and each other, because they disagree. That kind of attitude is not Democratic. I have tried to explain that both of you as candidates ARE democrats, and will prove to be democrats in August.

I will send this same email to Obama's campaign as well. I would like to see a little civility, because there are going to be plenty of problems that are going to require the assistance of the people when OUR DEMOCRAT is elected to the White House. We can't get assistance from enemies, and they are making themselves enemies for themselves and you.

Thank You.

Sincerely,
Your supporter,
Karen Davis

I think people come up with labels all the time. In today's litigious society, people are all trying to cast blame on others for things they could have avoided with a little common sense. Sure, there are some real issues out there, and deserve a hearing. The media is having a heyday with labels.

I see lots of people trying to use the getting by they've done on some "label", and then tried to see if it extended to "paid early retirement." Most of the time, it did... just not the way they thought it'd happen.

So... I think this nomination race is about the old guard and youth. Just the way it has always been. Our children are in their 30's and 40's. I trust my now very grown child! He's smart! He isn't just going to vote for someone because of a certain trait. He wants someone who can do, and will bring some change to the system. So do I!
I see these two running as fairly even in qualifications. So, I say to myself, "an extra few years of life can't hurt..." My son, though, says, "Our turn, your generation has had it's chance, and look at the mess we've got now!"

Fair argument... I didn't decide to be more than a voter until now. Clearly my fault for not being more active in 2000, and since.

My son is a smart man. I still like them both. I still hope for a dream combination, because we need to win, so badly.

Go Dems! Win the country in 2008! We need relief from our
city streets to the White House!

P.S. What would our political races be like if the media did what that crowd did, when a speaker tried to make a bigoted joke? We'd never hear about it. It wouldn't get press. It'd just die away. Ignore the media hash... all they want to do is make money.
Anyone who has had to ask for help of any kind knows how tough it is to opt-in.

Even if you said, by way of conversation... "I wish I could [quit smoking, lose weight, quit drinking, quit gambling, quit being such a slob,_______________ (fill in the blank)]." You know how tough it is to opt-in to help.

If you've ever had to ask for help at any agency, anywhere, you know what kinds of things you need to do, paperwork, lists, interviewing with several people.

So, basic rights, on which there is no opt-in condition, would level the playing field for many people.   Read More »
C'mon folks. I am so tired of all the emotions swirling about this contest.

Can't you see through the rhetoric? People don't get to this level of leadership without skeletons in their closet! We have a very open campaign here, with possibly the first truly international discussion of people and issues!

Let's stop looking at the threats, the diatribes, the iffiness of this and that...   Read More »

"remember Dine'..."

A post by Shopman on a Tennesseee Republican Party posting gave me this thought...

http://democratsspeak.blogspot.com/2008/02/tenn-republican-party.html

We don't suffer from racial divides, unless we are unable to frame our objections to something in any other way!

As we sit to think about the inequities we see, it is very easy to lay blame at the feet of the stranger in our midst. The blame lies with the unequal treatment of people by our goverment. As much as we have tried to right a wrong by changing this and changing that, all we've done is come up with a confusing hodge-podge of rules and regulations that must be followed.

Whether an insurance company pays a bill or not, everything your Doctor or hospital does is paid. The expense you see on your doctor or hospital bill is a direct result of an unpaid bill from an insurance company or an uninsured consumer.

Look at it this way. If you are running a market, and 30% of your customers are "samplers", ruining or consuming products as they shop, then that loss must be added onto the cost of doing business. In order to maintain a profit margin, you have to divide the loss by every item you have in the market and add it to the price of each item. Society ends up paying for everything that is consumed and not paid for.

This is my first post with the name of Dine' at the top. I will do this until we hear further as to his relief. He is ill, and we have recieved word from his grandson, so I want all my posts to have a momentary remembrance of him so, as you read, you will be sending him some electrons and surrounding him with love (and relief).  I hope you will consider doing the same thing, so he is remembered EVERY time we read a post, no matter whose post it is.

If you wish to send him a note, click on the link below...

No matter what the outcome, they will be fiercely defensive of each other!

What a great team they are!

Once again, in reading the transcript, I find myself impressed with the depth of their ideas and plans for the presidency! They did well. I was impressed by Hillary, not as a "politician" per se, but as someone who goes after what she wants with a ferociousness that we really could use in the administration. I was impressed by Obama, as someone who taught constitutional law, responding to his "inaction" on the Schiavo case.

I was impressed by both of them, responding with what they've learned, and what they'd do differently, and what they think alike on.

They are SO talented! I really wish they would just throw their hands in the air and say "enough!"

It won't happen, though, because they need every interested party they can meet, every voter they can impress. They are running for president, not nominee...

Maybe we can say "enough" and be satisfied that this contest and their differences will be settled between them at the convention. They'll need every voter for November. Maybe we can start this work of caring for our neighbors and friends (delegates) who have to make sure the platform is something that can be sold to everyone in town.

Enjoy the transcript!

The poster claiming Obama is the antichrist has succeeded in his mission of dragging people to the center ring and enticing you to fight with each other!

If you read all his posts, they are not favorable to anyone, and not someone you want to even get involved with.

We ARE Democrats! Racism and Bigotry do NOT belong! If you agree that a democrat believes in the social and political equality of all people, then quit taking your candidate so personally that you'll tear down another person's opinion or favored candidate with hatred!

If you don't agree that you are a part of the democrats, Go start a Bigotry Instead, Trashing Common Hopes Party, or the Bigotry Loves Actively Climbing Kindred Party, because you WILL not like what happens in August; GUARANTEED! You will be angry, disillusioned, and disappointed.

Because all the people there will be democrats, INCLUDING your beloved candidate!!!!
