WE NEED A RENAISSANCE!
Our economy allocates scarce dollars to maximize the utility of the consumer. Translating from economics to English, I just said money is scarce & we should be smart in its use. In my travels in the USA I too often hear claims that a municipality must have tax money for a new sports facility or lose their team. The one we built a ‘few’ years back is no longer good enough…. so they say. This is an anemic argument that the public takes like a marlin on live bait.
I am not sure where to start but let’s try at the governors level with key states (both blue & red) passing legislation that there will be no more tax subsidies for professional sports. If this will not work then at the federal level with Washington, DC saying that there will be no more federal money to states that allocate tax dollars, etc to the subsidization of professional sports facilities. This would be in the same vein as many years ago when the drinking age was raised from 18 to 21. Many states said they would not increase the drinking age. The fed simply said that there would be no more federal highway money for states not complying. All states are now 21 to drink. I want to stay out of the argument about the drinking age. Point is that we are the USA & we can get this done. This is simply a question of our priorities.
I want to keep you with me so I will show the light we must follow. About one in six dollars now goes for health care; 33% of the USA’s public schools had classrooms in portable buildings in 2005 & as far as far as energy we simply must conserve. A good start with energy would be passing a law that no car will be built or imported to the USA after…say 2010 that gets less than 50 MPG.
Our country must look inside her boarders and fix the public school system. Making an argument for building more schools & raising teachers salaries should be the politicians delight. Not skyboxes & domes! In short, we demand a population that has access to quality safe & free education. Since we are at the trough, we also want our entire population to have access to efficient health care. Our Lady USA will become as she was many years ago when we have a widely dispersed healthy & educated population.
People we need a renaissance. Stop government giveaways throughout the USA & there will still be professional sports. One result of my call to action will be that municipalities will have more money for education while the salaries of professional athletes will fall. The system as it is now is a transfer of tax money to wealthy team owners & athletes. I say again…end this and the ball games will continue. Do not change and our country will continue to crumble.
The forecasts of Kennedy in ‘Rise & Fall of the Great Powers’ are now in our face. The path I have given is simple. The result will be a population that cares more about the environment and less about celebrity tabloid gossip. What our population is not getting from the educational & medical systems they are getting from the tabloid world. Once again we need a renaissance and to continue the giveaways will be to give away the great country we have built in 232 years. The candidates are now jockeying for The White House. Where is the candidate that can deliver my call to action?
"But the truth is that Edwards was in Michigan to bury Hillary Clinton, at least as a presidential candidate.
"When this nomination battle is over, and it will be over soon, brothers and sisters, we will have a united Democratic party," Edwards declared.
The Edwards endorsement, delivered not in an upcoming primary state such as Kentucky or Oregon but in the contested former-primary state of Michigan, was not a primary endorsement. It was a positioning moment for a November race in which everyone â€" including the savvy senator from New York â€" knows that Barack Obama will be carrying the Democratic banner into competition with Republican John McCain."
With 5 primaries Obama leads in total delegates 1887 to 1719= + 168 and he is about 138 delegates short of the magic # to end this. Let's see how fast the remaining 234 supers announce...Obama needs less than 50 as he will probabl win OR, SD & MT.....

Obama leads in total delegates 1885 to 1718 & he only needs about 140 more delegates to get to the magic #. Hillary meanwhile needs about 307 more delegates.
There are about 237 undeclared supers left & 5 primaries left of which Obama should win 3 (OR, SD & MT) and Hillary 2 (PR & KY).
After a long battle this is about over...

This is all about over and only a few weeks left as Obama cruises to the win....Now we have 5 primaries left & Obama only about 142 delegates short of the win...
I expect Obama to win OR, SD & MT.....

Obama is trying to shift to the GE as he is in Missouri building base for GE. Obama will then visit Michigan & FL as he shifts his thrust to the GE.....
Obama leads in total delegates 1872 to 1698= + 174 & he is only about 153 delegates from the finish. Meanwhile Hillary is about 327 delegates from the finish.
Starting today over the next 6 primaries they will each get about 100 elected delegates out of the remaining 217 elected delegates.
Obama will easily get another 53+ supers to take this home!
Today in WVA if Hillary wins 2-1 in votes she will only net about +9 or +10 delegates against Obama's 174 delegates lead.....
After today then Hillary wins KY & Obama wins the larger OR....

Many months ago when the field had more candidates how many people thought Obama would win? The Hillary camp never thought Obama would get the nomination & now he is in the home stretch to the nod.
Now we hear he cannot win the GE...ACCORDING TO THESE SAME PEOPLE HE COULD NOT WIN THE PRIMARY...So all cool out & watch the Obama team roll on to the GE...He just showed you he can win!

The Hillary people want to keep talking about popular vote & this is not how the candidate will be decided. Obama leads in all areas...Even th e sillay data that includes MI & FL...

"(CNN) â€" John Edwards still says he is remaining neutral in the Democratic presidential race, but the onetime candidate all but said Sunday it is impossible for Hillary Clinton win the Democratic nomination, and warned the New York senator not to damage the party in the primary campaign's final stretch."
"Clinton is expected to trounce Obama in West Virginia, but West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin said he thinks Obama would also be able to carry the state in the general election."

Michelle Vetoes Hillary

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Close-in supporters of Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign are convinced he never will offer the vice presidential nomination to Sen. Hillary Clinton for one overriding reason: Michelle Obama.
The Democratic front-runner's wife did not comment on other rival candidates for the party's nomination, but she has been sniping at Clinton since last summer. According to Obama sources, those public utterances do not reveal the extent of her hostility. "

"Obama added superdelegates from Utah and Ohio, as well as two from the Virgin Islands who had previously backed Clinton. The additions enabled Obama to surpass Clinton's total for the first time in the campaign. He had picked up nine endorsements Friday.
The milestone is important because Clinton would need to win over the superdelegates by a wide margin to claim the nomination. They are a group that Clinton owned before the first caucus, when she was able to cash in on the popularity of the Clinton brand among the party faithful.
Those party insiders, however, have been steadily streaming to Obama since he started posting wins in early voting states."

There was delegate movement & now Obama + 163 in total delegates & only about 164 delegates from the finish line. There are about 200 elected delegates left in last 6 primaries & they will come close to a split on these last 200 elected delegates to make the score 1961 to 1798 in favor of Obama with Obama needing 64 of last 253 undeclared supers &Hillary needing about 227 of last 253....
I just came in & heard Obama gathered another 7 supers today....THIS TREND WILL INCREASE....
Washington Post below reflects problem with Hillary's attitude. If she remains in race another few weeks she needs to illustrate style & substance NOT trash talk...
"The other notion -- that Clinton could position herself as some kind of Great White Hope and still expect African-American voters to give her their enthusiastic support in the fall -- is just nuts. Obama has already won more Democratic primary contests; within a couple of weeks, he almost certainly will have won more pledged convention delegates and more of the popular vote as well. Only in Camp Clinton does anyone believe that his supporters will be happy if party leaders tell him, in effect, "Nice job, kid, but we can't give you the nomination because, well, you're black. White people might not like that."
Clinton's sin isn't racism, it's arrogance. From the beginning, the Clinton campaign has refused to consider the possibility that Obama's success was more than a fad. This was supposed to be Clinton's year, and if Obama was winning primaries, there had to be some reason that had nothing to do with merit. It was because he was black, or because he had better slogans, or because he was a better public speaker, or because he was the media's darling. This new business about white voters is just the latest story the Clinton campaign is telling itself about the usurper named Obama.
"It's still early," Clinton said Wednesday, vowing to fight on. At some level, she seems to believe the nomination is hers. Somebody had better tell her the truth before she burns the house down."

The next 2-3 weeks will be much about nothing. The score now 1852 to 1695= + 157 Obama with him 173 short of finish line & Hillary 330 short of finish line. In the next 6 primaries they will 'about' split the remaining 200 elected delegates to make score 1952 Obama to 1795 Hillary so he will need only 73 more supers & Hillary 230 out of a pool of 261 undeclared supers. Sure supers can change their minds but the trend is for Hillary supers to switch to Obama....
This would be a great time for all to go on holiday as NOTHING changes the end game..At some point Hillary leaves the race & she has the right to pick the time...Let's all chill out and let this play out...

Can we get real & all know that no way Obama picks Hillary as VP.
His reflection of fresh, change, hope, etc would be tainted by this concept. I believe that wounds will heal & we will be fine...

"Every time Hillary Clinton is on the ropes -- as she was Wednesday after lackluster showings in Indiana and North Carolina -- her fallback is always the same: Count Florida's votes. But even her campaign acknowledges that the state can't deliver her the Democratic nomination. Squeezing all of the votes out of Florida's Jan. 29 primary still leaves her trailing Barack Obama -- and Florida Democrats are willing to settle for half as many.
''It's time to move on,'' said Dan Gelber of Miami Beach, the Democratic leader in the Florida House and the first of the state's superdelegates to take sides since late February. ``I want to do anything I can to get people moving toward Obama and worrying about November. We've got to end this current race as quickly as possible.''
The national party is slated to reconsider counting the delegates from Florida and Michigan on May 31. But Clinton campaign officials acknowledged that the best possible outcome wouldn't close her 150-plus delegate gap with Obama. Clinton would net 38 delegates if Florida got back its entire slate of 188 pledged delegates to the convention; the appeal to the national party asks for half, or 94.
''By moving the decision back to May 31, Florida becomes irrelevant,'' he said. The dispute could have been resolved sooner if Clinton had not been adamant about getting the lion's share of the delegates, said Obama's campaign manager, David Plouffe. The Obama camp has suggested splitting the delegation in half, casting aside Clinton's edge in the primary's popular vote.''Obviously, there's a lot of discussion about remedies in Florida and we've expressed openness to those,'' Plouffe said. ``I think the Clinton campaign has been less willing to consider anything other than full seating of the delegates, and so we're hopeful that dialogue will continue.''"
