Let me start by defining the Christian Right. They are a very conservative group of Christians who interpret the Bible literally. They are typically Republican and almost all are anti-gay. They are not bad people but just a group with very extreme and sometimes distorted views of reality.
The Christian right views homosexuality as a sin. Their belief is that you will not enter God’s kingdom should you commit this sin and not repent. They view it as a perverted lifestyle that God does not permit. They base their argument on the Bible and believe that homosexuality is not a civil rights issue but an issue of what is right and wrong in the eyes of God. They claim that homosexuals are going against their own bodies. These right-wing Christians are not only against gay marriage but against homosexuality in general. Never do they ask, “ Why would God have anything against homosexuals?”
I have listened to a Minister who shares these viewpoints speak on the topic. When talking about transsexuals and sex changes or just homosexuality in general, the Minister spoke with a tone of disgust. He called homosexuality perverted and uses terms such as “sick sexual thrill.” The condescendence was plentiful and the realism scarce. He spoke with a tone of absolute disgust that frankly scared me.
In the upcoming days I will be further examining the viewpoints of the Christian Right and explaining why they are wrong. Please remember that I am generalizing and that not all right-wing Christians share this viewpoint. This issue is beyond politics. This is civil rights, and civil rights goes beyond politics.

Barack Obama has the best plan to help the middle-class. John McCain seems to have the best plan to help the overall economy. I am wary of BHO's spend, spend, spend plan. I know we can ill afford another Republican President, but Senator Obama had best smarten up on the overall economy. He needs to take a Bill Clinton approach. Clinton was good to the middle class, but also worked toward balancing the budget. Be wary Senator Obama. We cannot keep borrowing money from China.
Offshore drilling will do absolutely nothing for your gas prices. It is a stupid idea that is bad for wildlife. We need to move away from oil. Dick Cheney's drill, drill, drill strategy hasn't worked and will never work. Don't let Mac and Doubleya fool you on this one.
I am also wary of Obama because all he wants to do is spend. Faith-based initiative, things like that. It is a well-known fact that he won't balance the budget. Having a balanced budget is important. Bill Clinton was able to acheive a somewhat balanced budget, but generally Democrats haven't cared about the budget. This worries me.
Peace.

P.S. If anyone (Liz) has the bill number of name I would like it so I can find the sponsors/cosponsors and call their offices.
Can you believe him? I am getting really disenchanted. He is very out of touch and condescending. He doesn't understand that English is a problem for some kids. This is amazing.
2. The DNC is distorting John McCain on their home page. They say John McCain and Phil Gramm think economic problems are "phsycological." Nice going. McCain has denounced the remarks. Isn't this exactly what Barack Obama doesn't want?
3. In defense of the New Yorker cover, they are willing to talk about this very sensitive subject. I do think they went too far, but it wasn't that bad.
I first supported Barack Obama back in January after John Edwards dropped out of the race. I thought Obama was going to save this country. To me he was a different type of politician, and I thought he really was going to bring about change. I wasn't really worried about experience at the time, I knew he would find a way to get things done as president. Now I am worried about an Obama presidency.
With his latest flip-flops, Obama has shown he is weak , naive, and pandering. He doesn't understand that we don't need to have an unconstitutional FISA bill to fight terror. He doesn't understand that feeding the hungry is more important the feeding a Hummer that should be illegal (he supports ethanol). I am beginning to doubt his ability to deal with countries like Iran. He is too much of a naive idealist. He needs to be a realist like Hillary.
He has also flip flopped on Iraq, backing down from a previous position that got us out in 16 months. He says he agrees with the supreme court in striking down the DC Gun ban, but before he was for it. I am glad he flip-flopped on these issues, as these I like the new positions better. But flip-flopping makes him look weak, like a regular politician.
I cannot support John McCain. His policies are terrible and I know that another Republican would be bad for this country. I know party unity is most important, and I know we cannot have Hillary and party unity at this point. I will still be volunteering Obama, because I know he is the best choice. I just want to put it out there that the Democratic Party could have done better.
However, you should be happy to know federal lawsuits have been filed to repeal the FISA bill. We have no power here, but we know the bill is unconstitutional. Let's hope the courts do what they are there for.
Folks, we all disagree on many things. At my church we made a banner that said, "We are different, that is good." However, there should be an agreement that all new members must read and agree to. Not all the legal crap, but an agreement to refrain from using any foul language and attacking anyone. No hate crimes, not attacks on faith, race, or any of that jazz. Let us make this site great again. I will be coming up with an agreement.
Good night and good luck.
