Obama and Iraq

I'm a fan of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Recently, I was watching the interview with Sen. Barack Obama again, and I found this quote that I thought was quite clever:

"Iraq is sort of a situation where you got a guy who drove the bus into the ditch, you know, you obviously have to get the bus out of the ditch and that's not easy to do, although you should probably fire the driver... " - Senator Barack Obama (on The Daily Show, 11/07/2005)

Of course he also put an emphasis on how he refused the war from the start.

Remember former Bush Chief of Staff Andrew Card? One of the Iraq War salesmen, does it seem likely that he would receive a HONORARY DEGREE in PUBLIC SERVICE?!? Honestly, the University of Massachusetts needs to withdraw the degree. Watch the protest at commencement here: Link

As the May 30th Republican fundraiser for President Bush in New Jersey draws near, I've checked again at the Report Card the State Committee made for our Republican lawmakers. If you haven't done so already, be sure to contact your Republican officials to ask them whether they plan on attending, whether they have accepted the President's money, and whether they plan on doing so.
Email all results to updates@njdsc.org !!!
Even if they don't help now, they may be of use in the upcoming elections, where the Democrats need to maintain control of the State Legislature.

Progressive or Liberal?

When editing my PartyBuilder profile, I noticed that you have an option of labeling yourself either Progressive or Liberal. In the modern world, aren't the two the same? Both Progressives and Liberals are for change (and progress), and they are definitely not conservative.

For now, I've labeled myself as a Progressive, because the list seems to go from left wing to right wing and Progressive is at top. However, what is the difference?

I would be grateful if anyone could answer this.

Re-electing Sen. Lautenberg

As we all know, Sen. Lautenberg (D-NJ) is up for reelection in 2008.
Currently, he is the only one running, and there hasn't been any competitors from the Democratic Party. There haven't been any really vocal opponents from the opposition either. Therefore, he might as well be our best bet.
As we all know, Sen. Menendez won the last Senate race by a 9% margin, so New Jersey is probably in safe hands. However, you are still welcome to discuss your views about the upcoming election in this group:

Why Musicians?

Probably some of you are wondering how this group connects with others. Politicians can be musicians, as you know. Remember Bill Clinton (as a presidential candidate) with his saxophone a decade ago? Musicians can also be politicians (Dixie Chicks). Even a century ago, the Lion Pianist, Ignancy Jan Paderewski became the first prime minister of a free Poland.

Music and politics in the modern world are intertwined.
