Missourian's Opinion on Medcaid Cuts

Something that was posted on Myspace

The following is something that was posted on Myspace...thought it was a funny read.

You know not everyday you can just casually walk up to a person and start unleashing your true opinions about how this country has gone down the crap hole. I for one was not expecting that conversation to take place.

Come on people, get a freakin grip. I say stop complaining and do something about it. A simple hello, how are you doing turned into this long drawn out B$%@h session about how the current administration is ruining this country. The quick witted side of me responded before thinking and simply asked if they were registered to VOTE. Okay, maybe I am not as stupid as I look, sometimes. The answer was not surprising to say the least, "No, why do you ask?'

Well for one, if you are not Voting, then personally I say dont voice your opinions to complete strangers and expect sympathy. Two, shut your pie hole and look at your self before you start judging others and how they run the country. Three, I am a democrat and I dont take crap from an unregistered backstabbing, lieing, Republicans. (Sorry, just venting)

To end this blog on a lighter note, I ran into this same person just the other day and they admitted that they did go register to vote. Me being my nosey self, I asked for which party. Okay, I am thinking republican, but to my surprise, this person liked my attidude and admitted that they thought long and hard about it and decided that should be smart and vote Democrat.

YEAH, one more CONVERT!
My next question is, WHO'S NEXT?

High Gas Prices

I am fed up with the continual increase in gas prices. It has caused my family to cut down to one car and even then we are struggling to keep gas in that car.
My husband has to commute 30 miles one way to go to work. If my calculations are correct, it averages out to be 300 miles a week, which is a full tank of gas. To that, you have to add doctor appointments, gorcery shopping, and bi-weekly trips to see our nearest relatives.

It is getting to the point that we have had to limit the amount of food that we purchase to feed our family because higher gas prices. The higher the prices for transportation cost has increased food cost, the higher the food cost the less that we can afford to buy. I am not referring to purchasing steak and other high costing foods; I am talking about the basics, MILK, EGGS, and BREAD.

For a family of five, we budget $100 for every two weeks. Yes that is little, but it buys the basics to survive. In my opinion, we need to do something to change it. Families should not be faced with buying food to feed their children and themselves or pay the high rising gas prices, which also include utilities.

In my opinion it was cazy when gas went above $80 a barrel and now with it over $100, it is, my opinion just STUPID and it shows how some people are so GREEDY. Greedy to the point that they are willing to make our whole nation suffer because they are ignorant when it comes to other people's needs to live.

With the budget cuts that the current adminstration put in place, our Family suffered greatly.

I am a stay at home mother of three children. While my husband works full time, we are still barely making ends meet. Some things needs to change! The budget cuts cost my family daycare assistance for my youngest son, cost my husband and I affordable health insurance, and most imporantly it makes me feel like we were punished for being part of the "lower middle class".

We no longer qualify for head start because of the income limits and we can not afford daycare because we have a mortgage and utility bills to pay. Without assistance for daycare, we are stuck living off of one income. I cannot rationally see myself working full time just to pay for daycare cost. In my opinion, I would be working just to pay someone else to raise my son and I pride myself on being my child's first teacher. If we had assistance, we could afford daycare and thus lead to more money being brought into the home.

Health insurance cuts caused me to cancel my appointments with a specialist I was seeing at a local Cancer hospital. Breast cancer and other forms of cancer run in my family and 4 years ago my doctor told me to see a specialist for some health issues. At that time the specialist told me to come in once a year, at least, to be screened. When the budget cuts took place I had no other choice but to call the specialist and explain that I would not be keeping those appointments because I could not afford private health insurance and we no longer qualified for MO insurance. I have looked into the free screening that are offered, but since I am currently only 27 years old I do not qualify; age requirements from what I understand is 40.

Yes, my husband work offers health insurance for workers and their spouses. We would love to have coverage, but if we pay for private insurance we would have to make cuts in our personal budget. We have cut enough! We dont have cell phones, we dont have cable, we eat out once a month and even then we only order pizza. We have internet and long distance but that is it.

Sorry for the long post, but the point is that something needs to be done. Our current adminstration focuses on world issues. In my opinion, we need to refocus our priorities and help those who are struggling to make it and feel like they are being punished for even trying.
