Failures of Republicans to live what they preach... A Catholic View.

In fact I have spoken about choice on this blog but the fact is and what you missed on my other post apparently. Is that those people like republicans who wish to have Choice as an issue don't do anything when they have the chance actually do anything about it. Not Gee Dubyah nor Sarah Palin both of whom had republican legislative branches and neither of whom did a single thing to support the sanctity of life. But now I ask you, why is it that Republicans only believe that the sanctity of life is only important to those who are unborn. Hypocrites in the republican party could care less about the life of those who ARE BORN. They betray children by kicking them off of insurance, refuse to educate them in school and furthermore make it almost impossible for them to reach higher education. Next, they don't care about soldiers and put them in harms way when we were NOT in danger, and then refuse to care for them when they come back home. Their war monger ways show their lack of love for LIFE. republican refusal to help with poverty of body and soul speaks further to their Hypocrisy: When you pass laws condemning homosexuality and then are caught having sex in a Airport bathroom... makes a person wonder, When you pass laws condemning child molestation and then are caught trying to molest the pages at the capital... Make a person wonder. When you claim that you support life, but do nothing to stop the genocide in darfur, You are a Hypocrite.

Any other Questions?

According to John McSame...

All men are created equal unless they love other men...

And women aren't equal at all since unlike men they can't decide what to do with their own bodies.

And Sarah Palin according to John McBush doesn't deserve to earn as much money Dick Cheney.

Tell John that unless ALL PEOPLE ARE CREATED EQUAL NO ONE IS EQUAL.

Union: A harm to one is a harm to all
MLK: Injustice anywhere is a threat to Justice Everywhere

Donate to Obama now give as much as you can as often as you can we are truly in the fight of our lives.

Why Barack Obama will win this election, why Republicans know it, and why Democrats dont.

Why Barack Obama will win this election, why Republicans know it, and why Democrats don't.

This may be sad news for commentators, pundits, and prognosticators, because few people like it when someone lets the cat out of the bag or peeks behind the curtain at the great and powerful OZ. CNN, ABC, Faux News, and even my favorite MSNBC make money based on ratings, and so they become forced to exaggerate and embellish tension in order to keep their audiences watching. Faux has their slant as does MSNBC but dont confuse slant with over production. But let us take the pomp and circumstance out of the equation, let us blind ourselves to the Ritz and glitz, and let us strip away all of the spectacle, and view this situation for its realities. We must forget that Barack is Black and highly educated. We must ignore that John McCain fought honorably, and suffered tremendously as a POW. We must set aside the entirety of both of these men for what they are supposed to be, and view them clearly for what they are. The historical ramifications of the first Black president, is a beautiful sentiment. But sentimentalities cloud our judgment, and keeps us from seeing the truth behind the fog. Just as repetitive suggestion is intended to push poll us into believing the caricature of a man with a 95% voting record with the Bush administration can somehow be a MAVERICK. Once all of these false fronts have been stripped away and the 3 dimensional reality is left standing in front of us we can look at the sincerity of this election.

My past, Your Future (poem)

My past, your future

My brother from another mother, skin tinged dark and darker where the marks of frequent sweat remained stained. You worked while I played, you worked while I slept, and you produced the food I greedily consumed. I am sorry

My sister I am sorry that I was complicit in your assault. I am sorry that I am responsible for your pain. I am sorry that we look and jeer and cast side long glances when you appear. Your fear has given me strength, and as you were diminished, I was held up as the good son. As you were guilted and jilted I was directed and respected all the while protected. And I am sorry

While you were lynched I held the torch, while you were raped I sat and watched, while you were shot my tax dollars bought the gun and bullet and paid the man to pull the trigger the rigors of your life I will never know. And some who look just like me, hate the way things are but never except that this, is the harvest of what we sowed, I sowed.

I shake with the rage of what I am responsible for: Slavery, Mass Murder, Rape, False Imprisonment. My War on Drugs has transformed the poor into thugs. My war on terror has not only imprisoned us but tortured them. I feel like I am drowning in the broken levies of my inabilities.

And they all, each one staring at me, each one like a choir singing from across the mass grave which are the vast failures of my past. At long last proclaimed you dont have to say sorry and in fact we wished you wouldnt but rather own those crimes, acknowledge those atrocities, If you can. So, that way you may have your past, and us, our future.

Yes we can (poem)

Stark is the contrast between right and wrong
An elegant throng
Beautiful is the choir, When Change is their song!

Yes we can yes we can
Thank God Almighty
YES WE CAN

Since when has speaking values been a crime?
Was it not what won us the house last time?
Again I hear their voices chyme.

Yes we can yes we can
Thank God Almighty
YES WE CAN

Half orator and the other is in a channeler's mold.
Possessed of Kings and Jacks of old.
He has a dream of hope in a time when hope is gold!

Yes we can yes we can
Thank God Almighty
YES WE CAN

The mountainous momentum of the collectively mundane.
The U.S. in the cross hairs of global disdain.
The chorus is calling for us to hear their refrain.

Yes we can yes we can
Thank God Almighty
YES WE CAN

Harsh has been the tax of wallet, eye, and ear.
in an age when politics equals fear!
from roof tops, and flooded lots
The crowd talks, "WE HOLD THESE TRUTHS TO BE SO DEAR!"

YES WE CAN YES WE CAN YES WE CAN YES WE CAN YES WE CAN
Random thought

You know what people I have found live in a 2 dimensional world. They like the picture that they see, it is comforting but it doesn't allow the person being pictured to be who they are, instead it traps them into the four walls of the frame. We are 3 dimensional objects with thousands of emotions and most importantly and what is the most difficult part for the person viewing the picture to deal with... Is that Sometimes those emotions change, which in turn changes the picture. Please feel free to change however you are comfortable. No need to apologize to me, after all if I try to restrain it you'll resent me, yet if you restrain it you'll grow.

I know kind of deep and maybe weird but it's what I'm feeling...

"This must be the scariest thing for Republicans, a bunch of progressives sitting in a D.C. basement talking about politics," Zack Exley.

And I'm sure it IS the scariest thing for Republicans and status quo Democrats. To be able to witness the rise, with my own eyes, of progressive youth storming out like gang busters to change the world as we know it, was a powerful sight to behold. The New Organizing Institute is for real and only now, as I am back out west on my parents' sheep farm, do many of the lessons truly start to take hold. My parents live in a very rural part of the pan handle of the state of Idaho, yet based on what I have learned via my training at the NOI, a person can change the world utilizing: an iron will, a sharp mind, and the power of the Internet. Nettocracy has been born!

Religion And Politics
By: Sean Micheal Patrick Gallegos

Policy and Politics
Is where Lunacy meets Lunatics
Verbal strangers
And Vocal trainers
Are just smoky mirrors mixed with parlor tricks
That is the only way
You may
Disguise the facts
Of the Nuclear Skies Acts.
How has rising body counts
have not spun into turn abouts
of fair play.
Where has Consistency run?
What have our Brothers done?
When will we see that it takes more than a pure life to get into Heaven?
But a pure life with out Judgement!
For those who have done it all right
Yet still cast stones at another's plight.
With no angels wings will they take flight.
But bright like the spark of a match they shall burn to a cinder and return to the ash from whence they came.
Whom than will they blame?
As the belly of the great serpent slithers above them.
Will they wail and say they were wrong?
Or will they ride their boat to hell all the way singing redemptions song?
While still they judge their neighbor for the sinner they may be.
How long have we waited to rock the boat?
TOO LONG!!
Can't you see.
Another Agnostic Atrocity
A Pandemic form of Philosophy
At what cost to me?
Hypocrisy
I make another mockery of the ruling aristocracy
Kill them all and watch the fall of man will crawl
Holocaustically.
Shockingly
We never learn from our mistakes
Paradoxically
How evil is envy?
To lust for all another man has, is our failure historically.
Rhetorically
Our Bane
Started with Kane
The only problem is we are all still the same.
Whom now can we, CAN WE BLAME!?
Shall I see each of you remain in the flame?

I know It's been a long time but immigration is still on my mind!

Link

I am continuously bombarded by the short sightedness of the far right in particular the way that they try to intimidate people into silence. I am not, nor will I ever be afraid to voice my opinion even by threat of exposure nor should anyone who received this email.

English only can never work for many reasons like the fact that there are hundreds of native tribes within the United States as well as Puerto Rico and Hawaii. But lets actually break down their argument further, "because the "majority' of United States citizens speak English does that mean we should force everyone?" The answer is no... The reason is because by 2050 the majority of US citizens will be speaking Spanish not English and therefore under republican illogic it would be suitable for those Spanish speakers to force everyone to speak Spanish as an official language, since they would be the majority. And in neither case would forcing one group or another be appropriate. Furthermore, they argue that the cost is too high to create thousands of items into hundreds of languages. I would argue that spending hundreds of billions on a senseless war that actually creates misunderstanding in the world when it is so much cheaper to create a little understanding in the world by allowing citizens to vote in what ever language helps them understand the issues better, seems a no brainer. We as a society must grow together and incorporate as opposed to creating tools by which to discriminate. After all, the argument aside why would republicans be so afraid of immigrants understanding who to vote for? Could it be that the last election which was the most inclusive linguistically in the history of this great nation and ended with around 70% of Latinos voting for Democrats? Along with the largest Latino turn out in history? Smell the blood in the water and taste the fear in the air? True to form, republicans will do as they have done since fascism first taught them to get elected by blaming people. The only problem is the American people aren't listening to their politics of hate anymore. Gay America is not to blame, Muslim America is not to blame, and Latin America is not to blame, rather continual destructive foreign policy blunders based on misconceptions misunderstandings and constant misinformation intentionally misrepresented to a misguided and mislead American mass. That and only that is to blame for the troubles that face The United State of America today.

In solidarity and hope for a better and brighter American future,
I'm sure I'm late on this one but it is well worth the read...

By Kevin Tillman

Editor’s note: Kevin Tillman joined the Army with his brother Pat in 2002, and they served together in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pat was killed in Afghanistan on April 22, 2004. Kevin, who was discharged in 2005, has written a powerful, must-read document.

It is Pat’s birthday on November 6, and elections are the day after. It gets me thinking about a conversation I had with Pat before we joined the military. He spoke about the risks with signing the papers. How once we committed, we were at the mercy of the American leadership and the American people. How we could be thrown in a direction not of our volition. How fighting as a soldier would leave us without a voice… until we got out.

Much has happened since we handed over our voice:

A conversation about immigration

This is a conversation about immigration that I had with a "progressive" Democrat. Who does research on 9-11. The first Section is her thoughts the second section is my response.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Flow of Immigrants Money to Latin America Surges...
This is bad because while i am having to pay incomes taxes that arent even legal, they are shipping all our undocumented $ back. so in return i am paying for them to have free health care, a system that i do not even support bc i use alternative medicine... if you are going to be here, do it legally. meanwhile the people here are getting passed up on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Reply

I love and respect all of the things that you do in regards to 9-11 and being that you are anti-bush. But I have got to tell you and I know this mind you not through someone else. But Because I am a grad Student in Comparative Ethnic Studies I have a back ground Political Science and Political Communications. With an emphasis in Latino Politics. And I'm a politician and all of the Data does not support your stand point. For example just like the data on how the towers fell does not add up to the "OFFICIAL" Story line. No plane parts that hit the pentagon the data doesn't add up. Well like wise the argument Eduardo puts forward doesn't hold truth.

Ask yourself how many states have a sales tax? These people must buy food clothes apartments cars and everything else you and I purchase. We get billions in monies from these people. In fact Bush kept saying the social security was failing well guess what these people put 12 billion dollars per year into social security that they can not get back. If it is failing now take out 12 bill and see whats left. Ask yourself why make the issue about Latinos now? And the answer is pure politics, much like Muslims and homosexuals were during the last election. The Republican Party must have a boogie man in order to win elections Latinos are the new boogie man. It is the same reason why they never caught Osama because republicans need him to insight fear.

You paying for them is another misnomer after all they use about 3 billion in social services they give more than that in Soc security alone. They more than 4 times pay for themselves. I bet Eduardo didn't know that... 5 years later and the towers are still a whole in the ground one year later and new Orleans is still empty but we instead of using 700 million to work on these issues, we are going to spend that money on a fence that has no chance preventing people from crossing. Ask China how well building walls work to keep people out, or The USSR how well they work to keep people in.

I have more info if you'd like... I just ask that you keep an open mind...
Why Diversity In Government Matters...

It seems to me that all involved in this discussion
are talking apples and oranges. And this particular
problem exists quite often when the discussion of race
comes up in political discourse.

People of color do not simply need people of color in
positions of power so that they may get economic
benefits from affirmative action. They have
immigration, higher education, voting rights,
reparations, head start, Equal Housing Rights. And so
on and so forth. As it is truly a laundry list of
needs for these communities.

The clash is when the other side of this argument
brings up the Class War which of course is a matter of
economics, not race. The argument that poor is poor is
one thing, however poor and brown is truly something
else. And to add that a little extra: poor brown and
female, or part of the GLBTA. What makes this a truly
great country is class mobility. However, we must also
understand that there are machinations built into this
society intentionally to limit class mobility and some
of those machinations are built to limit peoples of
color directly.

So in changing rules and laws which help poor people
get the most out of life we at some point must sit
down and try to find those laws that are in place
which prevent poor people of color the equal amount of
mobility. A simple example would be the Washington
Assessment of Student Learning. Yes, poor whites do
poorly on the WASL but even middle class and wealthy
peoples of color do poorly on the WASL. That as a
result helps to limit the mobility of peoples of
color, and will do so even more if the new rule making
it mandatory for high school graduation stays on the
books.

So I guess the long and short of it is, can peoples
of color be just as self serving as whites who are
self serving? Sure... I'd point out Alberto
Gonzales and Condoleezza Rice. But, to say that a poor
white family knows and understands the struggles of a
poor family of color is arrogant. Because those in
power who wish to make rules to limit the mobility of
all of the poor use different rules to limit different
groups and that helps to keep them fighting amongst
each other.

As a side note, if the WASL does stay as it is
currently utilized and if the Democrats in the
Washington House and Senate choose to support it again
as it is currently understood. I won't become a
Republican (my mother would beat me to death...) but I
will have to reconsider my support of any candidate
who votes in favor of its continued use. It really is
a race issue And if you cant see that, then you
should not be representing those who suffer through
this experience.

Advocating on behalf of you know who...

When will we learn that there are a few inalienable rights that each one of us possesses? That due to the fact that these rights were endowed by our creator at birth so that no government may deny or revoke said rights and further, so that no government may humiliate or rebuke said human being for utilizing and/or expressing said rights, should only add force to the inalienable nature of these rights. Yet, I find it very interesting that there exists a distinct commonality between the micro and macrocosms of government. As we as a nation contemplate the hypocrisy of condemning countries like North Korea, China, Sudan, and Iran; for crimes against humanity which includes torture, illegal search and seizure, the denying of habeas corpus, and the like We turn around at every opportunity and adopt these same types of behaviors ourselves. This is not the time to mince words or to discuss semantics, we are talking about putting another human being who may or may not have any information what so ever and/or any guilt what so ever into an artificially induced hypothermia, or to systematically plunge someone into a tank of water till they believe they will drown.

Like wise, here at home we have our own Orwellian nightmare playing out with massive wiretaps on Honest, Hardworking, Peaceful, Americans. Truly a slippery slope and one that started around the time of, You are either with us, or you are with the terrorists. (Bush, 2001) And this is somehow a justification of why we should acclimate to our systematic loss of our God given rights? Now what I find to be particularly interesting is in the duality of what takes place at the Federal Government, and how that is echoed at the Local Government. In the Daily Evergreen piece, Police patrols allowed back in dorms.(September 26, 2006) We see a court system stand and deny Government agencies unilateral freedom to abuse those within their care. And we also see the response If we do not agree with the court systems rulings, we should simply change the rules to fit our pleasure. And let me guess to argue would be Anti-Cougarian, creating a police state is wrong on either the macro or the micro, to pass rules which give permission to monitoring agencies, (Like the police) to invade our lives without an ounce of evidence is a violation of our freedoms, where next I should reasonably expect to have someone monitoring my library check outs To late. My e-mail To late. And my phone calls? The macro does so when will the micro? By our all omnipotent Board of Regents in revoking our rights given to us by God, they have therefore all learned quite well how to be good little republicans.

Good night and God bless America,
Just think of this when you lay down to sleep tonight some self-righteous country from South America will come down the line probably Brazil and become the Next Great Super Power. They'll talk about how there was this Fascist ruler in The United States of America back when that country was still around... And they had this giant concentration camp on an island just off of the coast. Where they killed prisoners of war (or innocent prisoners) simply to gain political advantage over political opponents. And more power for a central government. They'll do documentaries... They'll take tours of the mass graves. Students in schools over in Brazil will ask questions like, "What about the Average American, you know the school teacher, the banker, the policeman, the baker...? Didn't they know what was going on? Didn't they stand up and say that this was wrong?" And their teacher speaking in the "NEW" global trading language of Portuguese will say in reply, "Oh they knew what was happening, but they were scared about what would happen to them, and that made them too afraid to rise in opposition to the second most hated man in the history of the world, just behind Hitler and just in front of Judas."

That is what we have to look forward to.
