Boise Democrats
About the Author
Though it may be a cliche, it is nonetheless true that all politics are local. As a Democrat in Boise, the state's capitol and largest city, it is especially important to work with eachother. It is my hope that this group will in some small way help to further that goal of cooperation amongst friends. I have put very few limits on the group membership and permissions for the reason that organic communication is by far my personal preference. Should anyone wish to change the format, please feel free to contact me. Go big BLUE!

We are attempting to set up an information and educational group set up to help new Democrats. Topics covered will be:

1. fostering enthusiasm in all aspects of the political process.

2. identifying strong candidates for leadership positions.
within individual states. and connecting them to their corresponding leadership.

3. Insuring that willing volunteers are connected to leadership that will put them to work.

If you are in a leadership position your help would be appreciated. WE NEED LEADERSHIP FROM ALL 50 STATES

I know that I have been hammering the fact that volunteering is the most important thing you can do this political season. Let me say this I am not telling you to vote for who I believe in. What I am saying is to choose the candidates that you like. And get to work for them. There are too many people sittin around doing nothing. If you want things to change, you have to get off your duff and make things happen. for more than a month I have talked about my experiences and the volunteer work I have been doing. And you know what It feels great to be making a difference in my state. YOUR CANDIDATE'S NEED YOUR HELP. Local level candidates have little to no money. So any time that you can give them would be helpful. Here are some ways you can pitch in.

1. Donate your time doing simple things.(Ect)
a. Data Entry.
b. phone banks.
c. filing and book keeping.
d. canvasing (public outreach)
e. event setup (local forums)
f. envelope stuffing
g. packet prep
h. driving people to the voting center.

* All it takes is 5 hours a week and you can help your candidates immensely.

2. Places to find your local candidates, and how you can help.

a. State Democrat website.
b. County Democrat website.
c. Go down to your City Hall and find out who the
candidates are and where they are located.
d. Very few have their own website unless they are
going for the Senate or House, but you can check.

*Your precinct might need a captain get with your county democrats office to find out.

We had a great day talkin to the people. We met a lady who was 108 years old and after voting republican for as long as she could remember she was now going to vote democrat and she thought that Obama was a good young man he just needed to smile more. We finished six blocks and registered 7 people and amazing enough we only had four people who would call themselves a republican. Well I am taking a couple of days off so that we can input all the information we have collected over the past three days. and get ready for the grand opening of our new office. It will give me a chance to meet all of my local candidates and talk with our candidates for U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. I will be back to it starting Saturday hittin the streets.

Just arrived back home from Canvasing efforts for my local candidates and for Obama. It was great I had some long talks with voters and their take on what is important to them in this political season. Most of them said it was the economy that was number one. Many of them said that they had never seen volunteers at their homes before, and that they where happy that someone would take the time to come speak to them. I think that we are breaking the Republican hold on Idaho. I will continue to push for that day when democrats have given hope back to my state. It has been 26 years since their has been a Democrat in my county that held office. I will help change this, tomorrow I will return to the streets of Idaho to do my part.

What will you do to help your local candidates. don't think that your candidates have money coming out their ears. Most of them have a small office and no staff. they need your help to succeed. make a difference hit tha streets.

It has come to my attention that many of our hospitals are converting to concierge service to offset rising cost. And in some cases that can be good such as getting a special bed, and catered food these things I can understand. But I cannot accept that if you can pay an extra fee up front you will be seen ahead of someone in greater need. Doctors took an oath to do no harm. Care should always be given to those in greatest need first. after that it should be first come first served. If people want special treament they should go to specialized hospitals that are specifically designed for pampering. Please if you care write a letter to your congress and senate to stop this disturbing change in Hospital care.

While on this blog I have found those who honestly care about America and where she is going. And yes there are people who for their own selfish reasons try to crush our hope. We should be discussing things to raise our awareness of things around us. Strengthen our friendships with our fellow Democrats from other states. We cannot grow and learn as a party without this. Are we going to disagree on many issues, Yes We Are!. But we must keep it at a mature level. and the question is, can you. If you can great. If you can't it might be time for you to find a less mature site to blog.

My hope fore America is a Barak Obama win in November, because we are the party of change. We stand for the voiceless. The people who are called weirdos, nut-jobs, and treehugger's. People from all walks of life rich, poor, and everywhere in between. If we cannot come together the republicans will win. We are on a slow but steady train to change. Will it ever happen as fast as you want it to. The answer is no. We must lay the groundwork for the change that will eventually come. Will you see it in your lifetime maybe, but probably not. The forces of the republican right are a formidable foe and they will fight us at every turn. Patience must be our watchword, and Resilience our weapon of choice. We have a duty and a responsibility to stand up for what is right. It is my hope that you will join me in this endeavor.

Hope is more than slogan
Change is a result of commitment

Im an enthusiastic Democrat who wants to help. I've gone to my state Democratic Party website twice and offered my services, also I have signed up to help individual candidates in my state. But obviously no one is manning the computer or phones. It could just be me though. If anyone has ever done this before could you please tell me how long this process takes. -micheal
I am a small town kind of a guy, but for most of my life I have been discouraged to do anything close to politics. To make things worse I live in a state that is almost completly republican. So even if I did have something to say I do not have leadership that shares my ideals. and I know what your probably going to say, just move. In truth that would be the simplest way to solve it, but I love it here in Idaho and could not see myself living anywhere else. So if any Democrats in Idaho read this we need to get together. We need to get organized. I am tired of being voiceless in the land of Elephants.

It is an unfortunate fact that in the end, big oil will eventually win and drilling will commence. Maybe not now but they will wait until the climate is ripe for them to pounce. So in the interest of enviromentalists to preserve the ecosystem I beleive that a compromise must be carefully costructed to regulate the way that they can drill. I also think that democrats can use this compromise to insure that bio-fuels and alternative energy systems are put into place, and I,m not talking about 2030. And the final part of the compromise should cover ending the production of vehicles that run only on gasoline. Do you really think that the major automobile makers are going to change if we don't help them change, I don't. In closing I will be awaiting your positive, and negative responses, but remember one thing the oil companies can waite for decades and in hard economic times they will take what they want without giving up anything.-Micheal
