In our fundraising efforts to attend the Democratic Convention in August, we've decided to focus on a small donor campaign. We figured out that it'll take us 240 people contributing $25 each for us to reach what we need to go to Denver and provide you with the best convention coverage in America. So far, we have the equivalent of 60 ($1500), leaving us 180 to go. Anyone reading this should be able to donate $25 to help us get there.

Good morning Dem and Obama Family.
It's just surprising to see the amount of attacks, complaining, and negative bias against Obama on this 'Democratic Party' DNC web page.
This is one of the best candidates the Democratic Party has produced in the last 60 years and those of you railing on this web page against him, well, remember the saying, be careful what you wish for, you may just get it.
Obama is the new understanding of american content, dreams, hopes, principles, and aspirations that have been been missing in politics for generations and i'm not sure it 'must' be associated with any one formal 'party', a faction of which seems intent on 'radicalizing' and 'polorizing' the once faithful democrats.
This is a time to stand for Democratic principles and the chosen presumptive nominee of that Party.
Beware radical and liberal zealots (railing on my brother and myself here), for i fear we could loose Obama as 'ours' to the masses of hopeful citizens that are re-awakening to politics and an understaning of patriotism.
It seems the time has come to just ignore the 'radical' postings on this site and withhold any comments or ratings for them. The only interest they will receive is from other 'discontents' and most will move on to sites where rabblerousing is in vogue.
We have a positive message and job to do for Barack Obama and this site can be a major factor in that effort.

We had an outstanding Voter Registration Training event yesterday afternoon to kick off our Unite for Change weekend and learned our Florida law, got the process down pat, met some great Obama people, and we're now setting up some voter registration sites!

One of the key things that we should start to do as activists is expand our playing field when it comes to thinking of elections. Howard Dean's 50-state strategy and Barack Obama's commitment to fighting in every state and territory have produced results that show us this approach is one that can lead to positive change. It can give candidates a chance to win who might not otherwise do so, it can send a message to Republicans that places they have assumed are theirs by birthright must be earned and it can sap Republican resources and make them spread their spending and activity to places they usually wouldn't bother to worry about.
A first step we can take down this road is to support good candidates in supposedly red districts. Frequently this will mean spending money outside your own congressional district. If we only focus on our own districts, we'll never be in the majority, we need to work together to change the state, not just our own backyard. And the more candidates we help and the more candidates we help win, the more our congressional delegation will owe progressives when it comes time for them to vote on things like the recent FISA/telco immunity fiasco. Like it or not, politics works on the you-scratch-my-back-I'll-scratch-yours level a lot of the time. If we scratch their backs with our votes, our voices and our checkbooks, they'll have to scratch ours.

We have a Voter Registration Training event scheduled for this evening and we had a great signup of over 20 people.. The excitement for our candidate is really getting strong. We don't know if we're going to have enough seats for everyone..

How about some voter registration training New Smyrna for Obama?
There is a session in Daytona on Monday the 23rd for some training for all volunteers that wish to get more familiar with the process for upcoming voter registration drives.
Here's the details:
Monday June 23rd, at the Daytona Beach Community College in the U.C.F. Auditorium located in building 150, 1200 W. International Speedway Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. *Vote Builder workshop will be held at 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This workshop is open to all Democrats interested in volunteering in the 2008 election.
We also have a session now set up for New Smyrna Beach at 10:00 AM on Friday the 20th of June.
Please sign up on our New Smyrna Beach Group Page http://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/4lc9 and we'll get some car pooling going from NSB to the DBCC campus if necessary.
