Some thoughts about today and the way the world has changed since this date back in 2001. I am a Catholic who was married to a Muslim in a Baptist church, and 2001 helped to change all of that. I am a Democrat who still flies Ol’ Glory and am proud of that, and 2002 tried to change that. I am a man of faith who believes strongly in something greater than myself and 2004 tried to change all of that. And would you like to know what I have learned since that time?
That both George W. Bush and Richard Cheney should be tried for sedition. Every time they choose language like, “You are either with us, or you are with the terrorists” I say to myself. You two shysters have done more to pave the way for “The Terrorists” than anyone. Where 5 YEARS later is Osama Bin Laden? Where? Who is soft on Terrorism? YOU ARE… Saddam is not Osama!!! Al-Zarqawi is NOT OSAMA!!! My outrage can no longer bear the fact that these two can’t find someone 6 foot 5, in the land of the 5 foot 8. My indescribable fury can no longer be contained, purely due to the fact that OSAMA is on DIALYSIS and therefore has to be near a place where he can filter his kidneys. Even the portable devices used for dialysis could not have lasted 5 YEARS! I, a voting member of a sane nation, and can no longer adhere to the credo of “STAY THE COURSE” because Washington DC has become lost at sea. And if staying the course means another 5 YEARS without OSAMA! And 5 MORE YEARS of REPUBLICAN LIES than I will tell you this here and now… I WILL VOTE FOR ANYONE WHO OFFERS TO THROW THE BOTH OF YOU INTO PRISON FOR AIDING THE ENEMIES OF THE STATE. YOU HAD ONE JOB AFTER SEPTEMBER 11th, TWO THOUSAND AND ONE; BRING TO JUSTICE OSAMA BIN LADEN. YOUR FAILURE TO DO SO MEANS YOU HAVE BEEN GIVING AID AND COMFORT TO OUR ENEMIES. NOW YOU HAVE HAD YOUR CHANCE TO DO YOUR JOB… YOU DIDN’T, STAND ASIDE AND LET A DEMOCRAT ACTUALLY GET THE JOB DONE. YOU KNOW THE DEMOCRATS, THOSE PEOPLE WHO TOOK DOWN THE NAZIS? THOSE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO FOCUS THE FIGHT BACK WHERE IT SHOULD BE. ON OSAMA BIN LADEN!!!!
The two of you are disgusting and should hang your heads in shame… As I write this Taps plays in the back ground chiming from a clock tower. And I think of those who have not been given the justice they so richly deserve. When will the bell toll on those who planned and perpetrated the attacks of SEPTEMBER 11th, TWO THOUSAND AND ONE? WHEN WILL THEN BELL TOLL FOR TWO MEN WHO CLAIM TO BE TOUGH ON TERROR BUT LETS THE KING OF TERROR RUN LOOSE? WHEN? May God grant us freedom from these COWARDS soon.

Howard Dean breezes through Chris Wallace interview
An excerpt:
An excerpt:
WALLACE: Aren't you Democrats playing with political fire here? [...]Read More »
[...] If you block, or if you're seen as blocking, the NSA warrantless wiretaps or military tribunals, don't you run the risk of exactly the same thing happening in 2006?
DEAN: Well, you know, I think the Republicans have some risk here too. Bill Clinton tried to expand wiretap authority, and the Republicans all wouldn't give it to him when he was president of the United States. So there's always politics, and you always have to watch politics on both sides.
What the Democrats want here is not politics. We think the president has played too much politics.
You know, the president got rid of the CIA unit that was supposed to track down Usama bin Laden. Then in the last three weeks, he's stepped that up again.
We think there's a lot of politics in this. We think there's a lot of politics in the president's speeches â?¦quot; one every day on terrorism. They think they can't win the elections unless they talk about terrorism all the time. We think we ought to talk about a new direction for the country.
So there's always the risk of politics. But in defending the United States, the best thing to do is do what you think is right. We want to get the terrorists. We think the civil war in Iraq has become a distraction to getting the terrorists. And we do want our Constitution and our laws to be upheld, because that, as I said before, that's what stands between us and the people we're fighting against.
Don't you think it's interesting that the government gets all excited over the Janet Jackson "wardrobe malfunction" on the Super Bowl but when it comes to a fictional account of the worst act of terror on U.S. soil, the President asks permission from ABC to interrupt the miniseries to address the country?
ABC flip flops from "based on" to "based in part on" the 9/11 Commission Report
And they do not say which part...
bush will interrupt "part of" the miniseries with an address to the nation.
I wonder if that's the "part of" the docudrama that is "based in part on" the 9/11 commission report.

Social Security to be Phased Out in 2007
By Josh Marshall | bio
Still don't believe Social Security is on the ballot this November?
In an interview published today in The Wall Street Journal (sub.req.), President Bush told editorial page editor Paul Gigot that next year he plans on partially phasing out Social Security and replacing it with private accounts, and that he thinks he can do it as long as the Republicans retain control of Congress, which he thinks they will.

AMERICAblog has obtained a copy of "Path to 9/11" despite ABC refusals to give copies to non-conservative bloggers (much less those directly involved with the events):
I just watched the Sandy Berger scene. It is beyond defamatory. The reports you've read do not do it justice.Read More »
[... T]his is THE KEY SCENE of the entire first half of the movie. You can't cut it, or a good portion of the movie just makes no sense. But Disney/ABC can't leave the scene is because it simply did not happen. CIA agents weren't on the ground, they weren't with Massoud, nobody had bin Laden in their grasp, and Berger never refused to give the order to get the guy.
The entire culmination of the first half of the show is one big fat lie. This isn't just a small scene with a small error. It's THE scene and it NEVER HAPPENED AT ALL [...]
His generals don't trust him. The American Public doesn't trust him. Our troops are playing police officer and nation builders while they occupy a region engulfed in civil war. When will it all end.

ABC Alters 9/11 Docudrama After Scenes Called Misleading, Biased Toward GOPâ?¦

And all at the expense of National Security.

ABC alters 9/11 show under pressure
"The Path to 9/11," whose large ensemble includes Harvey Keitel and Patricia Heaton, offers a panoramic sweep of the events leading up to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The movie dramatizes what it deems intelligence and operational failures of the Clinton and Bush administrations, relying heavily on public records. Thomas Kean, the chairman of the 9/11 commission, served as a consultant.
After a screening of the first episode in Washington last week, some audience members attacked the film's depiction of the Clinton administration's pursuit of Osama bin Laden. Among those unhappy was Richard Ben-Veniste, an attorney and member of the 9/11 commission whom some conservatives have dismissed as a Democratic attack dog. Richard A. Clarke, the former counterterrorism czar, has criticized the movie for suggesting that the Clinton administration was in a position to capture Bin Laden in 1998 but canceled the mission at the last minute.
After much discussion, ABC executives and the producers toned down, but did not eliminate entirely, a scene that involved Clinton's national security advisor, Samuel R. "Sandy" Berger, declining to give the order to kill Bin Laden, according to a person involved with the film who declined to be identified because of the sensitivities involved.

Top Republicans Challenge Bush On Terror Prosecution...Read More »
The Bush administration's proposal to bring leading terror suspects to trial met stiff resistance Thursday from key Republicans and top military lawyers who said that some provisions would not withstand legal scrutiny or do enough to repair the nation's tarnished reputation internationally.
Democrats, meanwhile, said they were inclined to go along with Senate Republicans who have been drafting an alternative to the White House plan, one that would allow greater rights to defendants. That left Republicans to argue among themselves about what the tribunals would look like.
I'm looking for volunteers to join this group and spread the message of the Democratic party and calling into Washington Journal between 7am and 10am EST.

I have heard the residents of Washington DC call out for a voting representative in the house of representatives and for 2 senators in the senate for YEARS. I have a solution for you in Washington DC to consider. My proposal will stand or fall based upon your views so here see my proposal.
Exxon/Mobil appears a big GOP contributor and also the biggest gas station chain in the country.
Call for every DC resident who wants to see enacted into law a voting representative in the house and 2 senators in the senate to begin a boycott of Exxon/Mobil gasoline stations in Washington DC.
This will not affect Exxon/Mobil corporation directly. It will affect the local gas station owners who will have to go to their parent company and go to the GOP and get congress to enact a voting representative in the house and 2 senators in the senate.
So call every local Exxon and Mobil gasoline station owner in Washington DC and tell the owner you will not buy their gasoline, nor oil nor get any car repaired at his station and not buy any food or beer at his station UNTIL he gets his CEO to get the GOP to enact
a voting representative in the house and 2 senators in the senate. Go forth and make those calls.
