Democrats opposed to the DLC
About the Author
The DLC, the self-described Democratic Leadership Council needs to go away.
It's not the Democratic Party, so it's name is misleading. Not to mention the fact that it certainly doesn't lead anyone anymore.
The DLC is purportedly dedicated to "centrist" politics, but it's less about crafting centrist messages than it is about creating milquetoast politicians. It's been crafting wishy-washy messages and weakening our candidates, and turning them into Republican-lite.
It does more harm than good.
At Ryan for Kentucky, we believe that the playing field has been tilted against working families for far too long. My whole life, it seems that war has been waged on union workers and workers attempting to form new unions. I have witnessed this personally in a union fight. Although initially, 80% of the workers at our warehouse signed on to become union, the long process allowed the company to come in and "behind the scenes" peel off these votes. How? By turning worker against worker. Promising promotion of certain workers, and higher wages and more benefits if the union failed. Read More »
Exxon Ed Whitfield has been trying to clean up his voting record for this election year. He knows it is a bad year for Republicans, and that he has been a shameless enabler of every failed policy of the Bush Administration. All the election year scuffling to clean up his record cannot hide the fact that he has been a constant, bitter opponent to reform of our healthcare system, and of providing equal access to those in poverty as those with wealth to healthcare. Lets look at some of Exxon Eddie's votes to limit the access of healthcare to working Americans. Read More »
I will make an admission. I don't want anyone to think that here at Ryan for Kentucky we are not fair. Our Congressman, Exxon Ed Whitfield, besides supporting Big Oil, Energy, and their record profits has managed to do a little good. Yes, Exxon Eddie has managed to be a defender of horses. Now, at Ryan for Kentucky, we love animals too, and applaud Whitfield for being a defender of horses. But, we must ask, what about the PEOPLE? Read More »
Register to vote, and send Voltage to play at the Democratic National Convention. We have songs that are perfect for the event already written, and I am already the number one democrat at the DNC.

After much sacrifice from that generation, our nation would go on to become the first that was built upon the liberal ideals of the Enlightenment. Actually, I don't. It was apparently before my time. But have a look at these debates between William F Buckley and Noam Chomsky.
part 1
part 2
I especially liked Chomsky's analysis of military intervention for so-called "humanitarian" causes. These discussions centered on America's involvement in Vietnam, but have relevance to today.

It seems we are always complaining. No matter how hard we work, and how many we get elected, it seems that our ideals are always the ones that are being compromised. One need only look at the FISA compromise to feel that grassroots Democrats are just running around in circles. We need Democrats in Congress who will fight for us, even if it means breaking with conventional wisdom, and party leadership. Read More »
Hi everyone,
First, I want to take a moment to thank the volunteers that came out today. All of you were great. Thank you so much.
We distributed around 350 buttons. The crowd at the Ferry Building was exceptionally large, due to the 2 concerts going on in the area. The Vote for Change displays were setup right in front of the Ferry Building at the cross walk, from 8 am to 2 pm, and I believe visibility averaged about 5K per hour, for a total of about 30K. So we all did a great job today.
Vote for Change visibility event(s): Progressive-Alliance.org is looking for volunteers, for the following Vote for Change visibility event(s). Volunteers are asked to cover 1 hour shifts; but of course, 2 hours would be great. The objectives are visibility, voter and volunteer outreach, and voter registration.
Students for Change: Progressive-Alliance.org is looking for San Francisco State University students and UC Berkeley students, to whom a Vote for Change display, buttons, lapel stickers, and window signs will be provided; with the understanding that all donations received, will be used for a Free Campus Concert for Change at their campus and future visibility efforts in Nevada or New Mexico. Ideally students should be able to provide 1 hour of visibility, between 11am & 1pm, on their quad, once a week.
Benefit Concerts for Change: Progressive-Alliance.org is also looking for volunteers, students, and student groups; to help organize Benefit Concerts for Change; which will benefit participating student groups in Nevada and New Mexico.
Please see the following link for the Vote for Change display, with Obama 08’ signs, and supporting material:

Individuals, who are interested in volunteering, should email me the time slot they would like to volunteer for, and their phone #, so I can call them and coordinate schedules.

Hi everyone,
Republicans have bankrupted America, to the tune of $100,000 per person, and we can’t afford 4 more years of their negligence.
I want to help produce benefit concerts to help get Barack Obama elected.
I have $25,000 worth of concert equipment, and I’m willing to put up the money to fund the events, with the understanding that all net proceeds go to fund visibility efforts locally, then in Nevada and New Mexico.
If anyone is interested in helping produce the benefits, please email me at:
Paul @ progressive-alliance.org
Lets step up to the plate and get Barack Obama elected.
