Gay Democrats

Now that the dust has settled in Denver, and all the kool aid was drunk. with McCains pick for VP it is now even clearer what a mistake Obama made by NOT picking Hillary as his running Mate. Us Hillary fans who can NOT and will NOT bring our selves to vote for Obama we now have the Opportunity to help smash the glass ceiling that we helped Hillary, put those 18 million cracks in.
I have been a strick democrat since 1981, have donate much money to Democratic causes. this will be MY first year of NOT voting for the democrat on the ticket. This is the beaty of free speach adn voting our hearts adn councious that we DON NOT have to vote because we are told to.
When I found out that a fellow Michgan delegate was removed from the convention by obama's staff because They DID NOT want to VOTE for OBAMA and would rather vote for McCain. this shows me how Sen Obama DOES NOT believe in Free speech if you DO NOT agree with him.
HIS Policies and votes show how much of a risk he really is. he DOES not gaurantee he will place any other types of Supreme court justices any better than BUSH.
The Party officals of Dean adn pelosi are not any better, Ms Pelosi has handed President BUSH EVERYTHING he wanted adn more on a silver platter. she has NEVER stood up againgst him and will probally fight back on Obama's plans over Bush's/ What a SHAME.
This is why I WILL write in Hillary os not a vote for McCainbut as A VOTE AGAINGST Mr OBAMA and the DNC.
If More people did this it woud Show the leaders of the DNC that we will NOT just DRINK the Koolaid and tell us to vote for the candidate no matter how bad they may be because of a back room deal made in 2004 with Obama.

While I may not like Obama's attitude and behavior much, this guy on youtube speaks very well about the whole situation between the Hillary and Obama supporters. I recommend listening to whole video before commenting.

And by the way he's very cute too.....
I'm confused about Obama's VP choice. Joe Biden is a man who's been in the Senate for 36 years and it definitely part of the old man thinking of politics, so why would Obama pick him if he is the agent of change? I would think Obama would pick someone who knows about the political machine, but is relatively new to the scene of the Senate but not as new as him.

Joe Biden has on more then one occasion come across as a racist and a sexist (My mom wanted to choke the man over the TV, for his behavior to the Latino community and women over the years) or maybe it's his plain speak manner that makes him come across as that and his words get misinterpreted.

Can someone explain why Obama would pick a person who would make others think twice about voting for him? I mean I am no big supporter of Obama, but was leaning to voting for him, now I have to think twice. In the Latino media Joe Biden has been quoted over the years as making statements about Latinos that do not come across as well let's just say proper and from my understanding he says absolutely nothing about GLBT rights. Maybe that's good cause they say if you have nothing positive to say you shouldn't say anything.
UMNS: NEJ affirms Calif. clergy on same-gender marriages
By Maidstone Mulenga
July 18, 2008
HARRISBURG, Pa. (UMNS: United Methodist News Service)
http://tinyurl.com/58w9ee

In sharp contrast to the action taken at the United Methodist General Conference last spring, delegates to the denomination's Northeastern Jurisdiction Conference voted July 17 to support clergy in California who choose to perform same-gender marriages.

The delegates approved a resolution expressing respect for pastors in the California-Pacific and California-Nevada annual (regional) conferences "who as a matter of Christian conscience, spiritual discernment and prophetic witnessing" opt to participate in the celebration of same-gender marriages that are not approved by the church.

The resolution also asks for lenient disciplinary action against clergy who disobey church law on the issue.

The 2008 General Conference, the denomination’s top legislative body, voted to retain its ban on same-gender marriages and to bar clergy from performing such marriages or consecrating them in the church. Pastors who perform same-gender unions risk losing their clergy credentials. The assembly met April 23-May 2 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Our Educational Effort Began

In June an intensive educational effort began regarding the Bush project at SMU. It includes a website with interactive capability. You can find the website at http://www.whatwouldjwdo.net

Our goal is to persuade South Central Jurisdiction delegates to reject the SMU/Bush Foundation lease proposal when they meet in Dallas at the Hilton Anatole Hotel, July 15-19. We are seeking to convince the "court of public opinion" through the media that the SMU-Bush linkage is injurious to both SMU and the United Methodist Church (UMC) that owns the university. Please keep this issue in your prayers over the next several days.

Growing the Petition

Finally, please continue to encourage your friends and colleagues to sign the petition. Each name is important. We need to tell officials of the UMC at every level that we find that a partisan institute honoring George W. Bush at SMU to be "utterly unacceptable."

Christian Site's Ban on 'G' Word Sends Homosexual to Olympics
By Mary Ann Akers
July 1, 2008
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/sleuth/2008/07/christian_sites_ban_on_g_word.html

The American Family Association obviously didn't foresee the problems that might arise with its strict policy to always replace the word "gay" with "homosexual" on the Web site of its Christian news outlet, OneNewsNow. The group's automated system for changing the forbidden word wound up publishing a story about a world-class sprinter named "Tyson Homosexual" who qualified this week for the Beijing Olympics.

The problem: Tyson's real last name is Gay. Therefore, OneNewsNow's reliable software changed the Associated Press story about Tyson Gay's amazing Olympic qualifying trial to read this way:

A Look At The Republican Party Of Texas Platform
by Vince Leibowitz

If you haven't yet had the opportunity to examine the Republican Party of Texas' new platform yet (and, if you haven't who can blame you - no one likes to induce projectile vomiting upon themselves), chances are you wouldn't be surprised that it is as radical and right-wing as ever. Here is a summary of the worst of it.

You are created in the image of God, period, and natural death must include executions, according to the Republicans:

We believe that human life is sacred, created in the image of God. Life begins at the moment of fertilization and ends at the point of natural death. All innocent human life must be protected.

So, if you don't believe in God, tough: you were created in his image anyway. Oh, and that "natural death" part? We assume the Texas GOP counts a lethal injection as a "natural death."

And, of course, it wouldn't be a GOP platform without gay-bashing within the first 1,000 words:

We believe that traditional marriage is a legal and moral commitment between a natural man and a natural woman. We recognize that the family is the foundational unit of a healthy society and consists of those related by blood, marriage, or adoption. The family is responsible for its own welfare, education, moral training, conduct, and property.

No surprise there.

The Idaho Young Democrats held a caucus meeting Thursday June 12, 2008 at the Idaho Democratic Convention in Boise, Id. Matt Kopydlowski organized the caucus in just a few weeks. Honestly, when he came up with this idea, I was scared. I've been to state-wide young dems meetings before where 10 people showed up and that is when I bring 7 of them. I was worried that it would be the same ol' group of young farts networking amongst ourselves, again. Just like in 2005, just like in 2006. But, boy, did I underestimate the power of youth this year and I am proud to admit it!   Read More »

On June 6th, 2008 the average price of gasoline across the nation rose to $4 per gallon. “There’s nothing worse for our economy than surging energy prices at record highs,†said Mark Zandi, Chief Economist for Moodys.com. What do Jesse James and Big Oil have in common? Nothing if you believe the legends of Jesse James, who supposedly robbed from the rich and distributed his ill gotten gains to the poor. Big Oil robs from all of us and keeps the ill gotten gains for themselves.   Read More »

Netroots Nation is coming to Austin next month and the only way I will be able to attend is if I win one of the scholarships being offered by Democracy for America. I am asking all my readers and blogging friends to help me make a dream come true.

They have announced at Democracy for America that one scholarship will be awarded solely on the number of grass roots supporters. I have 33 supporters so far but I know with the help of the people here I can make it to Netroots Nation.
