Northeast Central and Coastal Floridians for Obama
About the Author
This is a group for Democrats or those who, seriously, would like to learn more about the Democratic Party & Senator Barack Obama. What Democrats and Sen. Obama stand for, and the goals of both.

October 14, 2008
An Open Letter to the American People,

This year's presidential election is among the most significant in our nation's history. The country urgently needs a visionary leader who can ensure the future of our traditional strengths in science and technology and who can harness those strengths to address many of our greatest problems: energy, disease, climate change, security, and economic competitiveness.

We are convinced that Senator Barack Obama is such a leader, and we urge you to join us in supporting hi m.

During the administration of George W. Bush, vital parts of our country's scientific enterprise have been damaged by stagnant or declining federal support. The government's scientific advisory process has been distorted by political considerations. As a result, our once dominant
position in the scientific world has been shaken and our prosperity has been placed at risk. We have lost time critical for the development of new ways to provide energy, treat disease, reverse climate change, strengthen our security, and improve our economy.

We have watched Senator Obama's approach to these issues with admiration. We espe cially applaud his emphasis during the campaign on the power of science and technology to enhance our nation's competitiveness. In particular, we support the measures he plans to take - through new initiatives in education and training, expanded research funding, an unbiased process for obtaining scientific advice, and an appropriate balance of basic and applied research - to meet the nation's and the world's most urgent needs.

Senator Obama understands that Presidential leadership and federal investments in science and technology are crucial elements in successful governance of the world's leading country. We hope you will join us as we work together to ensure his election in November.

Signed,

I sit here and grind my teeth and listen to the lies that Fred Thompson and the RNC are trying to force the bright and knowledgable people of this to country believe.
Do they really think that anyone...other than the lack luster people sitting in that audience, will believe any of it?
So I ask Former Senator and might I add much better actor than I thought Mr. Thompson, We are winning the war are we?
Well whats the prize dumb@$$?

Any one know what he thinks?

On June 6th, 2008 the average price of gasoline across the nation rose to $4 per gallon. “There’s nothing worse for our economy than surging energy prices at record highs,†said Mark Zandi, Chief Economist for Moodys.com. What do Jesse James and Big Oil have in common? Nothing if you believe the legends of Jesse James, who supposedly robbed from the rich and distributed his ill gotten gains to the poor. Big Oil robs from all of us and keeps the ill gotten gains for themselves.   Read More »
More than 600,000 veterans from Iraq, Afghanistan, and other military theaters, have been discharged. We must make sure the Veterans Administration has the resources it needs to treat their physical and emotional wounds and help them and their families readjust to normalcy. If elected, I will do everything in my power to ensure that the Veterans Administration has the necessary funding to provide for our returning heroes. As your representative in Congress, I will also support legislation to improve the transition between military healthcare and veterans’ healthcare, to enhance efforts to inform veterans about the benefits for which they are eligible, and measures to simplify the different disability ratings systems in use by the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs. There needs to be timely transfer of records between the military and VA. It should be our priority to reduce the backlogs in unprocessed compensation and pension claims (roughly 480,000), and deliver budgets that do more than tell all those waiting veterans to keep on waiting If elected I will push for complete compliance with Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, push for the issue of sexual assault of female military members to be fully addressed. I will support truth-in-recruiting as well as support changes in how recruiters are treated when they don’t meet quotas. I will stand up for our homeless vets and help support quality control standards for equipment being issued to military, including housing and meals provided by private contractors. Making Sure Troops Get the Care and Training They Deserve Tricare, which is tied to Medicare reimbursements, will undergo cuts of 10 percent on July 1 and 5 percent on Jan. 1, 2009. Every day fewer physicians accept Tricare reimbursements, making it necessary for our military families to travel long distances for care. This abysmal treatment of our troops and their families is morally unacceptable. As more soldiers return home from Iraq and Afghanistan, America must be prepared to help them cope with not only physical injuries, but also psychological wounds. We need to help our returning military personnel and veterans make a smooth transition to civilian life, by improving veterans’ access to mental health services. Instead of sporting ribbons on our cars, and talking about supporting out troops, we need to work to develop and pass a GI bill for the 21st century. It will provide for a four-year college education at any of the state colleges across the country, for those who have served a minimum of three years. The GI bill would also address the needs of the more than 300,000 veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan suffering TBI, PTSD, and other conditions that require a lifetime of care. It is not only our patriotic duty to provide this care, it is a moral imperative we must not forget. When our troops return from battle, we should welcome them with the promise of opportunity, not the threat of returning to poverty.
Even though it probably won't happen, in a way I wish there was a re-vote in Florida and Michigan with only Clinton and Obama on the ballot. Lets see how much support both candidates really have at this point knowing Giuliani and Edwards are out of the race and see if Clinton beats Obama by narrower or even larger margins. Does anyone really think at this point Obama would lose either primary by more than 15%?

Spitzer's scandal may actually land him in federal prison for violation of the Mann Act with additional charges for "moving money around". i.e. "interstate commerce".

With this blog the 100,000 point level has been broken, and even though the points do not covert to cash they do show how much work you can do. If I the dial up boy can top 100,000 point level in six months then I know everyone else can do it too, so the more all of you use this website the more our right to freedom of speech is exercised. Please contribute your efforts as much as possible here, and rock n’ roll this country back to a democracy that we can all be truly proud to say is the best.

From my understanding there is a need for poll watchers needed for the polls on 02-05-08, and if you are interested you need to contact either me to pass it on to the person that got me into it here in Missouri, or you should contact someone locally ASAP. I do not know which states are in need of poll watchers, or exactly which polling places need them, but I will post a list of states below that are voting on 02-05-08.

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah

Just look back over the last twenty years there has never been a single month with deflation, and millions of Americans do not make a penny more in wages really.
