Dear Matt Stoller:
I don't know why you want to walk into the weeds with the others, but you are there now. It looks like it is coming down to the simplest of questions which has an obvious answer.
Do we trust Harvey Dent? Unequivocally. HELL. NO!
He has a record of flip-flops including the not-so-obvious healthcare flip-flop. He supports more coal, more nuclear, more offshore drilling, more exploration on public lands. He campaigned as if poverty and his prior support for single-payer healthcare didn't exist. And after campaigning against bad judgement, he is filling the executive branch with the same people that brought us to this point of national decline- including the first lady!
So, no. We don't trust him or most of the people he will be working with (that would include at least half of the democratic caucus). I'll try to offer suggestions, but I don't expect neither him nor anyone else in the photo-op coalition to listen. After all...........have they been listening to you?
Sincerely,
pee-wee

Dear D.L. Hugley:
I just saw a story about black comedians and their upcoming comedic treatment of our upcoming yes-man-in-chief. You guys are walking on thin ice. The fantasy-based community loves Harvey Dent so much that they will interpret any joke (whether it is funny or not) as an attack on their hero. Political correctness is sweeping America faster than Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. I just hope that you guys are organized enough so that no one winds up being blacklisted. I'm telling you- these cats don't know how to take a joke.
Sincerely,
pee-wee

If you didn't already know, you should have asked somebody. Black people don't need a symbol. Black people need good paying jobs!

Dear Andrew Bacevich:
Violence solves problems. War prevents war. If you would travel outside of the reality-based community sometimes, you would know these things. Quit asking our future yes-man-in-chief so many damn questions. He's our hero!

Dear Harvey Dent:
I just want to clarify something that I wrote to you the other day. When I said we needed a small business flat tax, I wasn't talking about what you or the other photo-op politicians currently call small businesses. Before we can have a small business flat tax (to go with the living wage) we must first redefine what a small business is. Any business that has offices in more than one state shall not be considered a small business. Any business that is part of a franchise shall not be considered a small business. Any business which is a subcontractor for a big business shall not be considered a small business. I know how you Washington types are. Any hint of something that might appease the regressive right is seen as a way to look post-partisan. You are not getting off that easy.
Sincerely,
pee-wee

Dear Chris Bowers:
I was going to write a laundry list of things for you to say to your readers, but I realized that it would just turn into another back and forth session between those in the reality-based community who want to build a movement and those in the fantasy-based community who just want to maintain power. What I want to tell you instead is that narratives matter. Harvey Dent would say "stories" matter.
The people have a need to follow a leader. The people really want to follow a hero. I didn't want to admit it, but that's politics. While we in the reality-based community understand that Harvey Dent isn't all good and (more importantly) that King George isn't all evil, most in the fantasy-based community willfully deny that public policy is more complex than elephants vs. donkeys. When you write a perfectly accurate description of Harvey Dent's cabinet appointments, your fantasy-based readers see it as an attack on their hero. The only way to reach these readers is to create a new villain and a new hero.
Sadly, we don't have many leaders on our side. And without charisma, our few leaders would never be considered for hero status (Yes, charisma matters). What we can do until our hero decides to show himself is to find our villain.
Rahm Emanuel would have been a good choice, but any criticism of him now will be seen as an attack on Harvey Dent. Pelosi and Clinton are huge political risks. The only one I see that we can rally both the reality-based and the fantasy-based communities against is Steny Hoyer. You already know what I am talking about.
Let me also warn you that a couple of your readers are posing as "progressives" yet they refuse to argue the point of your blog posts. The style of their comments tell me that they are professional politicos trying to discredit OpenLeft and steer other readers away from your blog.

Dear David Brancaccio:
I appreciate NOW's reporting on the current Wall Street letdown. It is hard finding any news shows with any reporting on any other cause of this current letdown other than "irresponsible" working people who only wanted to live the American dream in their own homes. The credit rating agencies have always had too much power. Keep up the good work!
Sincerely,

Dear Harvey Dent:
I hope that this new development forces some folks to reevaluate their allegiance to the fantasy-based community. I'm not that bothered, because I always knew you were a photo-op politician who would triangulate your way out of a circle. Since you've bought into the regressive, trickle-down economic philosophy (at least for the next two years) why not use this as an opportunity to challenge inequity in other parts of the tax code. I have a few suggestions that deserve more that just your political hitmen's attention:
*Small Business Flat Tax
*3-year Startup Business Tax Holiday
*Move top capital gains tax rate to 40%
*Property Tax Cap
*Wall Street Securities Sales Tax
*1% sales tax on Chinese products
*2% sales tax increase on alcohol (since you care SO much about crime and unwanted pregnancies)
The main goal is to create a tax code that will make the living wage a reality while simultaneously encouraging innovation and new ideas from *NEW* economic players. I am even willing to cut or eliminate dividend taxes since they tend to be long-term investments. You have shown yourself to be an establishment appeaser, but I am giving you a chance to prove me wrong.
Sincerely,
pee-wee
p.s. I didn't even mention a marijuana tax, but you haven't shown yourself to be socially liberal either.

Dear David Sirota:
Your last few posts have been very interesting. I completely understand your situation. You shouldn't have to preempt every one of your writings with a warning to readers, but they are so stuck on hero worship that it is almost a necessity. You might need a bigger mirror in the future, but the one you have now at least offers the readers a chance to get a small glance at themselves. Let me warn you that some folks like living in the fantasy-based community. You should be saving every penny from every paycheck for that jumbo sized mirror that lets everyone see their entire being.
And tell your readers that even though expanding trade to third world nations is NOT a need, we can expand trade with tarriffs. Yes We Can! LOL!
Sincerely,

Does this mean that you are part of the reality-based community? Yeah, Harvey Dent lied. Even the first lady knew that Harvey Dent was lying. Only those who live in the fantasy-based community thought that Harvey Dent and his DLC allies were going to do something about NAFTA. The elitists in D.C. only care about folks with masters degrees. Free trade (corporate rights') agreements put money into their stock portfolios. I could say keep up the good work, but your framing has been off for a while. It is no longer about "fair" trade. Now, we're talking tarriffs.
Sincerely,

Dear David Corn:
You are a sorry excuse for a so-called "progressive" journalist. Your interpretation of the facts concerning Harvey Dent's transition team is powerfully destructive. The lobbyists are running the show, but you want to obscure this major development to make our future yes-man-in-chief look like something he is not. Your readers deserve more than just cute innuendos when it comes to the basic truth: We've been hoodwinked. What will Harvey Dent and his photo-op coalition have to do to get you to stop playing the role of bodyguard? What is it going to take for you to realize that Harvey Dent neither needs nor deserves your protection? You are stuck in the us vs. them universe; the hero vs. villain framing; the fantasy-based community- and it is doing your readers a major disservice.
Sincerely,
pee-wee

Dear Margaret Kimberley:
I have just read your column in the Black Agenda Report. I really couldn't have said it better myself. Sloppy Joe Lieberman and Harvey Dent are joined at the hip. Our future yes-man-in-chief wouldn't have hesitated to get rid of Barbara Boxer if it was her campaigning for the other side. Of course, Barbara Boxer would never campaign for the regressive republicans; but she might do something courageous like.........say.........stand up for disenfranchised voters in a state like............say.........OHIO! You just said what should have already been obvious: Harvey Dent and his DLC allies are cowards. Watch how this saga plays out. War mongers like Sloppy Joe Lieberman will continue to be rewarded while liberal Congressmen (and their liberal base) will continue to get the backhand. This is the same old kind of politics.

Dear King George:
You are one of the greatest politicians of all time. I have never seen anyone with your unique ability to simultaneously make a yes-man like Harvey Dent look like a reformer and a so-called straight talker like Juan McSame look like an incompetent campaigner. You will truly me missed.

An Open Letter to the American People,
This year's presidential election is among the most significant in our nation's history. The country urgently needs a visionary leader who can ensure the future of our traditional strengths in science and technology and who can harness those strengths to address many of our greatest problems: energy, disease, climate change, security, and economic competitiveness.
We are convinced that Senator Barack Obama is such a leader, and we urge you to join us in supporting hi m.
During the administration of George W. Bush, vital parts of our country's scientific enterprise have been damaged by stagnant or declining federal support. The government's scientific advisory process has been distorted by political considerations. As a result, our once dominant
position in the scientific world has been shaken and our prosperity has been placed at risk. We have lost time critical for the development of new ways to provide energy, treat disease, reverse climate change, strengthen our security, and improve our economy.
We have watched Senator Obama's approach to these issues with admiration. We espe cially applaud his emphasis during the campaign on the power of science and technology to enhance our nation's competitiveness. In particular, we support the measures he plans to take - through new initiatives in education and training, expanded research funding, an unbiased process for obtaining scientific advice, and an appropriate balance of basic and applied research - to meet the nation's and the world's most urgent needs.
Senator Obama understands that Presidential leadership and federal investments in science and technology are crucial elements in successful governance of the world's leading country. We hope you will join us as we work together to ensure his election in November.

The news is bias. Quit watching. The goal is to make money- not to inform. Do you know what COINTELPRO is? Here are two links that might help you out.
The frist thing that this state needs is to find a way to bring more hi-tech based industry in that is a frist major point. Our next major probelm for us to fix is the sex education program being taught in our schools. We need to stop the outdated program of the no sex is the safest sex idea because that is not working, instead we need to focus on a program of protection and prevention of STD an teenage pregancey. The next toughest problem we have are all the illegal ailens living and profiting in our stae.We need to find a better way of finding and effectivley disrupting there spread through our great state.
The evidence is overwhelming. The "Quagmire" of Iraq is exactly where they wanted us to be from the very begining. Ceaseless, senseless, slaughter for profit.
