I was told my a mentor of mine that two of the greatest gifts of striving for emotional or spiritual health are Gratitude and Forgiveness.

I have been struggling this past week with a vexing chronic illness, and spent 4 full days at Univ. of Washington Medical Center getting tests: one C.T. scan, 2 MRI's, lots of blood work and eight different doctor appointments.

Despite my occasional whining about my illness, I am very grateful to be alive and intact in 2008. I am always grateful after spending a day in the hospital: to patients I meet who are worse off than me and inspire me with their courage; to UWMC for being a World Class teaching hospital and for having Medical Insurance which makes wellness possible for me.

I am very grateful to the Democratic Party in 2008:   Read More »
I am a Deaniac. I was an enthusiastic campaign volunteer for Dean in 2003/04 in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. My moniker on his DFA site was "Jake4Dean".

I made life-long friends on that campaign. There was something so exciting and heady to be in the campaign that first demonstrated the power of the internet and small individual donations. There were so many innovations. The blog was INCREDIBLE.

Dean for America is now Democracy for America, and I belong to that site as well. After Dr Dean became Chairman Dean, I put his name on a google alert so I could read every day his interviews across the country as he travelled for his 50-state strategy.

Dean was never popular with the press. They went as negative on him as they went negative on Hillary this election cycle. Even after the 50-state strategy was so successful in 2006, the pundits gave the credit to Rob Emmanuel. Now I like Emmanuel enough, but it was simply a lie that he was responsible for the Dem wins in congress in 2006.

Now in 2008, the successful local candidates supported by the 50 state strategy are able to step into statewide elections and Federal elections. It was a brilliant idea that Dean had.

Here's my confession: I was so disappointed when Dean lost the primaries, that I didn't vote for Kerry, who used most of Dean's talking points without ever giving him an ounce of praise or encouragement. Dean told us to work for Kerry, but I didn't. I moped. I bitched. I railed against the Universe. And the worst part of my confession follows: I didn't vote at all in the Presidential election of 2004. I sat it out, and the day after the election I had a talk with a good friend and started feeling really awful for not voting. I mean, I vote in EVERY election, even school board special elections. But I sat out 2004, depriving not only Kerry, but the down ticket candidates who could have benefited from my vote.   Read More »
To begin at the beginning, my #1 favorite friend at PartyBuilder is "Letitrip". She keeps me humble when needed and always is there with a shoulder to lean on when I'm down. I also admire her easy, fluent writing style. She knows she's my fave, I've told her many times.

Following are other favorites of mine. To me, these people are all true Party Builders, as they build the Democratic Party, not tear it down. My motto on my blog is "Democrats of all types, all stripes" I love and cherish the diversity of our Party.

And you can say why.

My top 3:

1. Jimmy Carter. If he had been re-elected in 1980, we would no longer be dependent on foreign oil. He was really pushing solar research.

2. Robert F. Kennedy. I was in high school when he ran for President, and he was my absolute hero. When he was shot, I felt like I had been killed. it was my first experience with grief.

3. Hillary Clinton. I have admired her since the 1992 campaign. I've read all her books. I joined her Primary 2008 campaign after her first podcast, in January or February, I don't remember which month. I thought she was an excellent First Lady, And I think she is a great Senator. We have not heard the last of Hillary Clinton.   Read More »
Be wary of bloggers who claim to be Hillary supporters but who have only recently arrived on this site. The last thing the RNC wants is for Hillary to be the Veep candidate of a dream team. These self-proclaimed "hillary supporters" do nothing but incite controversy and consequently make Hillary look bad through their behavior.

We were told months ago about the RNC's "operation chaos" which is an attempt to forestall Democratic unity.
McCain is so lacking in ideas that he stole the national contest for a better plug in car battery from us Democrats! In July 2007, a year before McCain publicized the contest, which is the only new idea in his entire campaign, the contest was invented by Democrat Presidential Candidate Frank Lynch and posted on the web and publicized by a Democrat Presidential Candidate at http://www.franklynch.org/plug_in_cars.htm

Even sadder, Obama is so embarassed at his failure to embrace this idea of his fellow Democrat that Obama is failing to make fun of McCain for being so intellectually bankrupt that he must look to Dems for his ideas.

The worst part is that Howard Dean and various State Party leaders kept the new ideological leader of the Democratic Party, Frank Lynch, off the primary election ballots and out of the debates just because he is not a failed member of Congress like the candidates they put on the ballot.

Look for new ideas to lead our Party forward at http://www.franklynch.org including his Top Ten List on the lower portion of the first page.
Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reed performed like Republicans yesterday and gave President Bush what he wanted. More spy authority which basically kills the 4th Amendment and legislation that gives the Telco's immunity from prosecution. Democrats and Republicans are now the same thing...maybe they always have been. Yes George Wallace wherever you are you were correct, "There ain't a dimes worth of difference between these two parties.
A Japanese venture company, Genepax, has unveiled a car on that runs on water. All it requires is a litre of water. In fact, any kind of water to be exact, whether its river, rain, sea water, or even Japanese tea. Its an electric powered car that runs solely on hydrogen dioxide.
"The main characteristic of this car is that no external input is needed. The car will continue to run as long as you have a bottle of water inside for you to add from time to time," said Kiyoshi Hirasawa, Chief Executive Officer of Genepax, after he proudly announced the company's invention.
Once water is poured into the water tank at the back of the car, the newly invented energy generator takes out the hydrogen from the water, releases electrons and finally generates electrical power.
"We highly recommend our system since it does not require you to build up an infrastructure to recharge your batteries, which is usually the case for most electric cars," said Hirasawa, who is hoping to advertise the car in time for the upcoming G8 Summit in Hokkaido, Japan.
A wholesale wipe out has been done to hundreds of PartyBuilder group memberships. I admin a group that has 275 members and now shows only 25. Is this payback from the Obama loyalists? It was wrong for the DNC to do this without warning. This smacks of just what many of us have been putting up with for 7 years from the Republicans. Shame shame shame DNC. You wanted us to grow the party and get involved and then you use this heavy handed Republican style move. Amazing!
I wanted you to be one of the first to know: on Saturday, I will hold an event in Washington D.C. to thank everyone who has supported my campaign. Over the course of the last 16 months, I have been privileged and touched to witness the incredible dedication and sacrifice of so many people working for our campaign. Every minute you put into helping us win, every dollar you gave to keep up the fight meant more to me than I can ever possibly tell you. On Saturday, I will extend my congratulations to Senator Obama and my support for his candidacy. This has been a long and hard-fought campaign, but as I have always said, my differences with Senator Obama are small compared to the differences we have with Senator McCain and the Republicans. I have said throughout the campaign that I would strongly support Senator Obama if he were the Democratic Party's nominee, and I intend to deliver on that promise. When I decided to run for president, I knew exactly why I was getting into this race: to work hard every day for the millions of Americans who need a voice in the White House. I made you -- and everyone who supported me -- a promise: to stand up for our shared values and to never back down. I'm going to keep that promise today, tomorrow, and for the rest of my life. I will be speaking on Saturday about how together we can rally the party behind Senator Obama. The stakes are too high and the task before us too important to do otherwise. I know as I continue my lifelong work for a stronger America and a better world, I will turn to you for the support, the strength, and the commitment that you have shown me in the past 16 months. And I will always keep faith with the issues and causes that are important to you. In the past few days, you have shown that support once again with hundreds of thousands of messages to the campaign, and again, I am touched by your thoughtfulness and kindness. I can never possibly express my gratitude, so let me say simply, thank you. Sincerely, Hillary Rodham Clinton

Bloggers to Receive Unprecedented Access, Connect Diverse Communities to Historic Event Progressive Community to Provide Additional Workspace, Resources for Bloggers During Convention Week

DENVER - As part of its continuing commitment to engage a broad spectrum of audiences in new and creative ways, the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) today announced that a record number of blogs have been credentialed as members of the media for the 2008 Democratic National Convention at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo. These blogs will help ensure that communities across the country are connected to the Convention through the eyes and ears of a growing, diverse group of online voices.

Organizers also announced that blogs credentialed by the DNCC will have access to a dedicated "Blogger Lounge" inside the Pepsi Center, equipped with televisions, technology resources and workspace to facilitate their reporting. All bloggers will have access to the Convention floor, press briefing areas, caucus meetings, filing centers and other auxiliary events open to members of the media.

"Since we began planning, one goal has been at the core of all our efforts: to engage as many communities as possible in the Convention experience. We're excited to provide bloggers with the opportunity to be the eyes and ears of so many at this Convention," said Aaron Myers, Director of Online Communications for the DNCC. "Today, we are shattering the standard we set just four years ago, when the 2004 Democratic Convention was the first to credential blogs. This year, we will more than triple the number of blogs credentialed to witness history in the making."   Read More »
The goal for all of us should be the defeat of John McCain and a general Dem victory; not only in winning the key to the White House contest but in winning large majorities in the House and Senate as well. I believe that Barack Obama will run the kind of campaign in the GE that will not only be a win for him, but a renewal of the Party. His brilliant address on the issue of race relations in America is a prime example of what he can do to answer any important questions that may arise in the GE. His ability to assert the difference between himself and his Republican opponent is already well noted. The major reason for his upcoming success in winning the Dem nomination and the GE is simple and compelling:   Read More »
Since so many well wishing Obama long knives have been snipping and whining for the last year it's time for a reality check.
Obama has either dismissed or found irrelevant the middle class, single women over 40 all baby boomers and the elderly. Which leaves him a loser in November. For the sake of the party and winning the white house he should withdraw.
FYI: If I were in a church for 20 years, I would not have played the ignorant card Obama has played. See no evil speak no evil hear no evil? Ya right...no one believes this guy.
