Abolish The Electoral College

A group for those who believe it is time to abolish the Electoral College and institute the popular election of the President. Not so much because this antiquated system is responsible for bringing George "W" to power, but the acknowledgement that every American's vote for President should have EQUAL potency. Not so with the Electoral College. As it now stands the vote of someone from Rhode Island or Wyoming has MUCH greater potency than someone from a populace state like California or New York. That and if the majority chooses one Executive over another, that person should lead. It's called Democracy. That and the historical reasons and concerns that lead to the establishment of the Electoral College are no longer relevant. Let's see to it that George "W" is the last President to win on a technicality.

New Cook Ratings on the House

I had a nice Fourth of July and I hope you had the same.
It's been a slow Political week.

Charlie Cook Has just released new House Ratings. There has been a big shift these from Just July 19th. Though Cook has not touched the Democrats Ratings, he has put 21 new republicans into the list of competitive seats and has moved 2 GOP Districts in New York from Tossup To Leaning Dem as well as one Lean GOP to Tossup and 3 Likely GOP to Lean GOP. As a student of Politics I know that Cook Does not just put 21 seats in to his ratings. The GOP back lash in the House could be Massive. 78 GOP held seats are now Considered Competitive (4 Lean Dem, 18 are Tossups) to only 35 Democrats (Only 7 are tossups none Lean GOP.

This hits Close to home for me. One congressman who was added (as Likely GOP) was Dana Rorabacher (Cringe), my Rep. My district's PVI is only R+6. Rorabacher won by 23 Points. It is looking More and More like that Margin will be squandered to perhaps as little as 5-6 Points. Though I am doubtful Rorabacher will be defeated, it is still possible. He is running against a popular Mayor (Debbie Cook, No relation to Charlie Cook) and I will do all I can to see this scum bag Defeated in November. So I am asking you to join me in a sense. If you live in a district where you have a scum-bag Incumbent like Dana Rorabacher, And your district is Rated by Charlie Cook (Or CQ, Or Stuart Rothenberg) try all you can to help get them out of office.

Debbie Cook For Congress in California's 46th CD !!!

Electoral Science, just something I find Interesting

I've been looking at a bunch of Data for the election and I have found something interesting. It is my theory that Obama should be the rightful winner of Indiana and California. In California Obama won at the polls but due to early voting (when Clinton was way ahead) he lost the state. In Indiana Republicans causing mischief caused Obama to Loose. the GOP was 10% of the Voting Population and Clinton won 54-46. Had it not been for them causing mischief not only would the % of GOP in the Voting Pop be smaller, but Obama would have carried it. thus Clinton's 14,000 Vote Margin would have been about a 30,000 Vote Margin For Obama had the GOP not interfered. I Find this Interesting but pointless by now.

A battle that we need to fight

If there are any lawyers on this site please read this post.

I have recently been reviewing the constitution and Supreme Court Cases. I think I have found something Big. The 2ed Amendment has today been reviewed and stands such that every person in the nation has the right to own a gun. It is My belief , siting the 14th Amendment's "equal Protection" Clause and Brown V. The Board of Education, that this interpretation of the 2ed Amendment is Unconstitutional.

Plessy V. Furgison has been overturned, which means the days of "separate but equal" are also over. a Law can be overturned on the clause that it is "Inherently unequal". Gun Violence Kills more people in the "Ghettos" (mostly Black neighborhoods) than in rich suburbs (Mostly white Neighborhoods). Therefor more African Americans and Hispanic Americans are Subject to Gun violence than white Americans. Poor people are more Subject to Gun Violence than Rich People. Therefor the Courts new view on the second Amendment is a flat contradiction of the Fourteenth Amendment.

If you think I have a case please Comment or e-mail me at Sjfk112263@aol.com

Russ Feingold For Majority Leader

I know many of you stand behind Harry Reid, but for 3 Years all we have seen from him is Spinelessness and inaction. He caved on Torture, He Caved on the Justice department, He caved on Mukasiee, He caved on Iraq Financing, He caved on Kyl-Leiberman, and He's about to cave on Telecom Immunity. Partially because of him our Fourth and Eighth amendment rights have been desolated. he is not a liberal champion he is a squid. in 2009 we need him out of party leadership in the senate.

I suggest Russ Feingold to fill his spot. Russ Fiengold was the only senator to vote against the Patriot act, He had the Judgment not to lead us into war, he voted against the military commissions act, he has been the senate's most vocal critic of Bush and his raid on the constitution, and he is planning on a filibuster to protect our fourth amendment. That is the leadership we need in the Democratic Party.

Russ Fiengold for Majority leader 2009.

Speaking from the Buddhist Community

I think what Obama said in 2006 and is now being attacked for by James Dobson is right. In the Buddha's last speech he said wise men should not argue about problems that can't be solved. I consider my self a Buddhist Ignostic (Ignostic with an I not an A there is a big difference) and I think all of the five major Religions have good intentions but at the same time divide us. the first amendment assures that all people have the right to choose their own faith. we are not a Christian nation, and if we become a Christian nation America will loose all of it's greatness (not because of Christianity but because of the First Amendment). I think I speak for all Buddhist, Hindus, Muslims and People of the Jewish faith when I say that in the passed seven years this country has Taken steps that dance on the line of Infringing our first Amendment right. Gay rights, Creationism and Abortion are issues that are argued mostly from a standpoint based on religion. If we outlaw those (which we have taken steps toward doing) we will no longer be a secular nation, we will be a Christian Idealocracy. we need to preserve Americas greatness by getting religion out of politics.
While a number of speakers -- such as Railroad Commission chairman Michael Williams and Mike Huckabee -- have praised the advance of Barack Obama and what it means towards a colorblind society, at least one vendor hasn't gotten the message.

At the Republican state convention, a booth hosted by Republicanmarket was selling a pin Saturday that says: If Obama is President will we still call it the White House.

There were other pins that weren't necessarily conveying the positive, inclusive, united front that has been portrayed during the convention. One said, "Press 1 for English. Press 2 for Deportation" and another, "I will hold my nose when I vote for McCain"

By NIRAJ WARIKOO • FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER • June 19, 2008

Barack Obama personally called to apologize Thursday to the two Muslim women from Michigan barred from sitting next to him during a campaign rally Monday because they wore Islamic head scarves.

One of the women, Shimaa Abdelfadeel, told the Free Press that Obama called her "to personally convey his deepest apologies and acknowledge that this was inexcusable."

Obama also left a voice mail for the other woman, Hebba Aref, 25, of Bloomfield Hills, according to Abdelfadeel.

Obama volunteers didn't allow the two women to sit behind Obama at a Detroit rally on Monday out of fear their Muslim headscarves, known as hijab, would create a negative impression.

Obama Campaign Apologizes for Muslim Snub

http://www.nysun.com/national/obama-campaign-apologizes-for-snub-of-muslim-women/80282/

Source: New York Sun

Senator Obama's campaign is apologizing after campaign volunteers reportedly kept two Muslim women from appearing behind the senator at a Detroit rally on Monday because they were wearing headscarves.

One witness, Ali Koussan, told the Politico that one volunteer cited "the political climate," "what's going on in the world," and "what's going on with Muslim Americans" before stating that it wouldn't be helpful for one of the hijab-wearing women to appear in television pictures with Mr. Obama.

"I was like, 'You've got to be kidding me? Are you serious?" Mr. Koussan said.

"This is of course not the policy of the campaign. It is offensive and counter to Obama's commitment to bring Americans together and simply not the kind of campaign we run," a spokesman for the campaign, William Burton, told the political news outlet. "We sincerely apologize for the behavior of these volunteers."

The Council on American-Islamic Relations called on Mr. Obama to invite the two women who were snubbed to appear with him at a future event.

Gas Prices, Israel, the Possibility of war in Iran and the 2008 Election

Yesterday I had my first $5 a gallon sighting. It was at a shell in Garden Grove and was for Diesel #2. The Regular was something like $4.70. Just a few weeks ago Prices here were only starting to flirt with $4. What drove prices up nearly $0.80 a gallon? It was Israel.

Two major officials from Israel have said something to the effect of "war with Iran is inevitable". in Order for Israel to go to war with Iran the US would have to approve it. The US controls the Iraqi air space, and Israel needs to fly over Iraq to get to Iran. In effect if Israel goes to war with Iran so do we.

let's pray (and I'm not even monotheistic) that this does not happen within the next 7 months. George Bush would gladly Approve of it and try to add us to the equation. We could loose another 10,000 if we go to war with Iran. If Israel Tries to go to war with Iran between now and January, god help us all (once again I'm not even Monotheistic).

This is among the most Important issues facing the 2008 race. McCain would go to war with Iran !!! If Lieberman is his VP and they win, there is no doubt in my mind that we would be at war with Iran within the first 6 months of the new administration. McCain has already joked about it in a manor most disgusting and unspeakable. He has nearly said as much as "we will go to war with Iran".

Obama has said he will meet with Mamud Amack Nadinijad, and treat war as a last resort. He Opposed the first wrong war and will oppose the second. He voted against the Kyl-Lieberman Amendment. We can Trust him on this.

So to anyone considering voting for McCain, Do you want another 10,000 dead in a war that should have never been?

The 2008 Governors Races

I have just Rated the 2008 Governors Races. The Democrats have a large Advantage. We would need to loose 4 Seats to get under 25 (which only means something on paper), Right now only two are at risk. We are likely to Pick up 1 and another 1 leans Republican, but it's early yet. Here are my Ratings.

To Justice Kennedy

It is very likely that the FISA bill will pass in the senate as it did in the house. This is a clear attempt on desolation of the Fourth amendment and thus an attempt on desolation of our bill of rights. the supreme court has the power to overturn this as well as the Military Commissions act which infringed the eighth amendment rights of Prisoners not on US soil. Your decision to stand by the bill of rights by voting to make Guantanimo prisoners able to sue was inspiring. I ask you to stand by the bill of rights once more by voting that this FISA bill is unconstitutional. You have the supreme court. it is a 4-4 split and you are the swing. please Protect my Bill of Rights by voting that this bill infringes our Fourth Amendment rights.
McCain Twists Obama's words about Public financing

Obama refused Public financing today. McCain was quick to respond saying he went back on his word. McCain implies that Obama vowed to take Public financing. that is not the case and never has been. Obama has kept up a stance that he would negotiate with the GOP candidate to come up with a reasonable way of publicly financing the two Campaigns. May I also point out that McCain took Public financing, opted out of it (probably breaking a few laws) and only today said he is considering going back to it. Don't let the GOP getaway with this crap in 2008.

A question for the People who think we can't win in November

There is are a few of us (lead by True Blue) on this blog who think Obama can't win. a lot of these people are the same people who thought Hillary was inevitable and thought she was winning well into the season (till about 5/6).

My question for them is "why do you think Obama can't win?". if any one can provide statistical data that points to Obama loosing please post it and I may post that data in my blog.

Every thing that I have seen from Polling data to Raw Primary votes to Bush Approval to the money race points to Obama leading by a comfortable margin in the worst case scenario.

CAIR Urges Obama to Include Muslim Women in Upcoming Events

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 6/18/2008) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today urged Sen. Barack Obama to invite two Muslim women, who were barred from sitting behind the podium at a Michigan rally, to an upcoming campaign event.

Media reports indicate the women were kept from the podium area because campaign volunteers did not want the candidate associated with the women's Islamic scarves, or hijabs. Campaign officials later apologized to the women.
