Ahhhh Alaska!

So, this is the honorable party:
http://www.adn.com/fbi/story/587459.html

The FBI took these guys on, NOT Palin, these investigations were taking place before she was on the scene. According to ADN (Anchorage Daily News), sounds like Frank Murkowski might be next (Frank's Chief of Staff Jim Clark plead guilty and will be used like Bill Allen was) and who knows, maybe Frank's daughter, Lisa Murkowski will be next? Hope so, that family went too long with their unethical behavior.

I'm wondering when Sarah gets her day in the investigation lime light in relationship to the same oil company? She apparently met with Bill Allen too, or is that insignficant that she did meet with him, and started her career in his living room and took money from him for her campaign? It's bothersome that she finds any door to push her TransAmerica pipeline to Canada too. She's even got T B Pickens and Cheney on her side, must be good. To CANADA! to CANADAAAAH! Meaning she's wanting to market OUR fuels OUT of the United States, get that yet? She's not loyal to keeping our precious 15 yr allotment of fuel inside America! Media missed or omits this one.

They also missed that she didn't take ANYONE on in Alaska, ask her, she can't name ONE person she's taken on (unless she wants to admit Monegan and Trooper Wooten and her hubby). LOL.

We got our heating fuel bill yesterday, $1,083.63!! Ahhh Alaska, we pump it here and charge the MOST. It's no wonder people are taking up arms here. Nearly $25 per day to stay warm? I thought Palin could multi-task? She's in Miami and flyin all over US to do interviews and our state is running itself, we really don't need her in any part of government interaction.

This is disturbing!

They called it a "HUGE OBAMA SALE"...that's disgusting!!

Fears rise that Democrats will assault Second Amendment rights.
http://www.adn.com/politics/story/585071.html
On the neatly stacked ammunition shelves at the Alaska Shooters Supply is a sign: "There is no such thing as too much ammo."
But in recent days, there has been concern about too little.
Over the past week, ammunition has been selling by the pallet-load at the shop. Guns, particularly military-style weapons, are a hot ticket.
And high-capacity magazines were selling so well, the Boniface Parkway shop ran out the week of the Nov. 4 election.
That's no coincidence. Fear of stiffer gun laws after Barack Obama's successful presidential bid and a Congress with a larger Democratic edge is prompting gun enthusiasts across the country to stock up in record numbers.
"Obama is the best gun salesman we've had in the last 50 years," said Jack Murray,

Exxon Fat Cats Make a Lil Profit

Today, ExxonMobil posted the highest quarterly profits report in American history.

Our economy today told a different story. The American GDP -- a measure of how much we're producing and selling -- fell for the first time this year.

So why does John McCain's economic plan give Big Oil another $4 billion in tax breaks? After eight years of backwards policies like these, we can't risk four more years of the same.

You can help turn the page on these failed economics. Sign up to get out the vote in these last crucial days of the race.

As our stalled economy continues to shrink, American companies are selling and producing less -- and families across the country are feeling it.

This winter, ExxonMobil fat cats will have money to burn. But millions of Americans will struggle to pay for basic needs like home heating costs.

That may be fine by John McCain, but Barack Obama has a different vision for middle-class families. And now is the time to make sure we get the change we need.

Sign up to get out the vote, and help change this country from the bottom up:

http://my.barackobama.com/november

Keep up the good work,

DNC Rapid Response Team

Nicolle Wallace Gets Flap Over Palin's Clothes

Nicolle Wallace -- a former Bush White House official and McCain campaign aide who helped orchestrate the roll out of GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin -- has defended herself in a lengthy interview with The Daily Beast, saying she is the victim of "an organized campaign" to discredit her. Yesterday Fox News contributor Fred Barnes, who recently interviewed Palin, said that Wallace deserved the blame for the $150,000 the Republican National Campaign spent to outfit Palin and her family. "The person who went and bought the clothes and, as I understand it, put the clothes on her credit card, went to Saks and Neiman Marcus... the staffer who did that has been a coward," Barnes said, identifying Wallace as the aide responsible for the shopping expedition. In an interview with Ana Marie Cox, Wallace remarked, "this campaign may do me in," and when asked why she was making such a comment, the former White House spokeswoman elaborated: "There's obviously an organized campaign to lay blame for things at my feet and I'm not going to engage before the campaign ends. I have a very long relationship with Fox News, and the notion that someone would call me a coward on the air and accuse me of putting $150,000 on my credit card without a single person calling and checking with me suggests that something is going on." Continue reading » http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/

18 Threats to Beluga Whales

Listing the Cook Inlet belugas as endangered - federal biologists estimate there are only 375 of the animals left -

Declaring Cook Inlet beluga whales an endangered species - as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration did Friday was only the first step toward protecting them. Now federal biologists are trying to figure out exactly what's endangering them.

The newly released "Conservation Plan for the Cook Inlet Beluga Whale" - a 128-page report compiled by the National Marine Fisheries Service - takes a preliminary stab at the question, listing 18 possible threats to the local whale population.

Five of those threats would pose a "high" risk of jeopardizing the belugas were they to occur, the study says. Among them are two natural dangers: disease and stranding of whales on mud flats.

Three are man-made dangers: whale poaching, food reduction (by damaging salmon habitat or over-fishing) and unnatural noise in the water (such as off-shore drilling, pile-driving in the construction of a Knik Arm bridge or expansion of the Port of Anchorage).

The report also lists as "unknown" the impact on belugas that might result from three man-made dangers: Oil and gas spills, systematic water pollution (including the partially treated sewage Anchorage discharges into Cook Inlet) and environmental change (such as ocean warming).

"Certainly oil and gas development and all in-water activities that might introduce pollutants are a concern," says Fisheries Service biologist Brad Smith, one of the conservation plan authors.

Read the rest of the story and check out the pix of the 18 stranded whales (they're the white whales in the filthy mud flat water):
http://www.adn.com/3246/story/563481.html

http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/wildlife/story/559040.html

2 pix next pg

Jon Stewart to Palin: "F*** You" Video

Jon Stewart recently spoke in Boston on Palin's comments about the "pro-America" parts of the country. Video below.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/20/jon-stewart-to-sarah-pali_n_136143.html

"She said that small towns, that's the part of the country she really likes going to because that's the pro-America part of the country. You know, I just want to say to her, just very quickly: [expletive] you," Stewart said to raucous applause.

Palin addressed a North Carolina fund-raiser Thursday night saying, "We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. We believe...that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, very pro-America areas of this great nation."

The comment was quickly picked up by media outlets and the Obama campaign, whose spokesman Bill Burton asked in an e-mail to reporters, "What part of the country isn't pro-America?"

"I can't take it anymore...After eight years of this divisiveness, we're back to this idea that only small-town America is the real America," he said.

Sarah Palin Will Finally Release Medical History IF You Really Want It

If elected, Senator John McCain, 72, the Republican nominee, would be the oldest man to be sworn in to a first term as president and the first cancer survivor to win the office. The scars on his puffy left cheek are cosmetic reminders of the extensive surgery he underwent in 2000 to remove a malignant melanoma.

Last May, his campaign and his doctors released nearly 1,200 pages of medical information, far more than the three other nominees. But the documents were released in a restricted way that leaves questions, even confusion, about his cancer.

A critical question concerns inconsistencies in medical opinions about the severity of his melanoma; if the classification of his melanoma is more severe, it would increase the statistical likelihood of death from a recurrence of the cancer. [...]

By not allowing reporters to interview him or his doctors extensively about his entire medical history, he has made it impossible to get a complete picture of his diagnoses and treatment.

Both Barack Obama and Joe Biden released recent medical records to the Times showing that they were healthy, though Altman notes that Biden's documents "did not indicate whether he had had a test in recent years to detect any new aneurysm," and Obama's most recent check-up was in January 2007.

Meanwhile, "Nothing is known publicly about Ms. Palin's medical history," Altman reports, "aside from the much-discussed circumstances surrounding the birth of her fifth child last April.

Anchor Pressley Left for Dead - Played in "W" Movie

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/21/national/main4535309.shtml
Anne Pressly's personality made her a hit with television viewers. Now, police want to know whether her celebrity made her a target.

The popular KATV anchorwoman, who had a small part in the new Bush biopic "W," was in critical but stable condition Tuesday after a severe beating in her home. Investigators aren't sure whether she was the random victim of a home invasion or a target because of her high-profile job.

"(It) is possible that it is something other than robbery," police spokeswoman Cassandra Davis said. "Our detectives are talking with co-workers because she was a public figure, because she was on the news, in the media."

She's in stable condition and thank goodness her mother went to check on her. Hopefully, she can identify the attacker(s)! Sounds like a hate crime to me.

Palin Sews Seeds of Hatred

Bill Ayers Palin is Accusing Obama of Palling With Terrorist
http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/story/545855.html

Sarah Palin on Saturday accused Democrat Barack Obama of "palling around with terrorists" because of an association with a former '60s radical, stepping up an effort to portray Obama as unacceptable to American voters. Palin's reference was to Bill Ayers, one of the founders of the group the Weather Underground. Its members took credit for bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol, during the Vietnam War era.
Obama, who was a child when the group was active, has denounced Ayers' radical views and activities. (He was probably in Indonesia or Hawaii and was 8 yrs old when this MAN did was part of these acts against the government).
In 1970, the group was blamed for a pipe bomb in San Francisco that killed a police officer and injured another. Three members of the group were killed in 1970 in an accidental explosion of a bomb in their Greenwich Village basement.
While it is known that Obama and Ayers live in the same Chicago neighborhood, served on a charity board together and had a fleeting political connection, it's a stretch of any reading of the public record to say the pair ever palled around. And it's simply wrong to suggest that they were associated while Ayers was committing terrorist acts.

You can donate here at Party Builder - do it today, there's only 22 days left. (By the way, stock market rose to over 900 today!)
https://www.democrats.org/page/contribute/ChangeWeNeed

Here's a message from Barack Obama about how funds coming in are now DOUBLED, so here goes:
In these final three weeks, our opponents are signaling they will do whatever they can to distract voters and distort the truth, so we need to redouble our efforts.

The negative ads and smears seem to grow by the day. The most effective way to respond is by reaching out to more people than ever before with the truth -- the stakes in this election are too high not to.

We need to grow this movement by 100,000 new donors before Friday.

A previous donor has promised to match your donation to encourage you to give for the first time. This is your last opportunity to partner with a fellow supporter and make your donation go twice as far.

Your donation of $5 will become $10, $25 becomes $50, and $50 becomes $100. Double your impact by making a matched donation today.

Who WON? I'm Votin' For "THAT ONE!"

A "steady hand at the tiller" McCain? I don't think so, lots of luck with that one, you'd have a heat stroke. If you want to use a motor propelled machine to plow the soil, you're going to REAP what you've sewn. Thank your puppy.

Maybe the third debate can be at a local dirt track; on your mark, get set, pull the cord and till away! Obama would pop-a-wheely and smoke that old, shaky man having breathing difficulties, leaving him in the dirt!

Yeah well, what's up with McCain's "apperachicks" what the heck was that about? What about standing in front of the camera at the end and Brochaw asking him to move? If McCain thought that the energy bill comment, "where it came to the floor and you wouldn't believe who voted for energy, "That one,"' was the knock-out, forget it. Talk about distraction again, I think you hit yourself McCain! Give it. Just save everyone from voting, you can back out now, be a sport and start something new, save our country MONEY from having to vote this election, just give it up! You're J-ello to the ticket! You let your puppy do all the yippin' (I omitted the 'g' since she does).

You are out of touch McCain. After everyone finishes fact checking whether a tiller is to plow, or part of a boat rudder, you're finished. You couldn't steer either one! LOL. You came to pick a fight with Barack Obama, but once again he talked about issues in his cool, relaxed manner, while you were trying to start a fire. To say he was going to purchase off all the bad loans, what the hell was the almost one trillion bail-out; talking about KGB and all the old campaign talking points we've already heard didn't cut it. McCain is 20th Century Fear Mongering, while Obama is the 21st Century Comfort.

Right off the bat, I was impressed that Barack took the time to learn how much TN was paying for gasoline ($3.40 gal. I'm moving there, dang. We're paying $4.65 plus). Too, Barack said he'd work with other countries to figure out how best to move forward with economy, since it's a global problem. He's a detailed person and we need that.

All this debate proved was after being billed that McCain was going to bring his boxing gloves, that McCain is a Wiener afraid to hit. What a BACK STABBER; he couldn't, and wouldn't, bring it. What a wuss; pick a fight, then you can't do it to Obama's face! Too afraid to lie, but let the VP do it. I agree with Chris Matthews that it's disgraceful to use Palin the way he does in a negative campaign; he uses her mouth; she's getting used! Too, McCain had a very condescending tone throughout the night, attack Barack with little pecks, instead of attacking issues. Barack addresses the issues, and he steered the boat right into the question.

His campaign is doing one thing, while McCain's doing another. He baked his own cake and it doesn't fit the molds. I wonder if it was billed that way in order to bait Barack, hoping he'd get negative, and then McCain would attack him for being grumpy, but it didn't work out that way, so McCain became hawkish anyway and stood in front of the camera. Ouch.

Watch, tomorrow McCain will whine about not getting favorable attention, while he and Cindy rushed off to leave this venue; and the Obama's stayed to mingle...likeable people, stay and mingle.

It's too bad Obama will inherit a military deployed where it shouldn't be, huge deficits, the world have changed and God bless Barack in solving this puzzle to create better change. I'm willing to help. I'm voting for Obama FIRST! Votin' fer "That ONE!"

I TRUST Barack Obama Will Win Another Debate

Sorry, I'm not feeling the National Enquirer image coming from the other ticket. Calling Barack a terrorist? He's the one working hard in law school and streets of Chicago to help citizens and remember the other tickets pokes FUN of service to poverty. Amazing. The only terrorist I see in government, is the one who avoids their own criminal investigation and belonging to a church that drives people out of town and one that pushes for a pipeline and to pave the way, let all the animals around it, suffer and die. Environmental terrorist. Saying Barack has no military experience yesterday was another point that bites her tail off, she has absolutely no military experience either. Shooting animals isn't military experience. Enough of the ugly vision, let's turn the page to change. Ready? Here's we go, put your seat belt on, let's get safe.

At the convention, Michelle related the story about how Barack gripped the steering wheel of his car and he drove tentatively down the street, protecting his new little newborn daughter. He checked the review mirror frequently to catch a peek just to make sure things were fine.

I trust that Obama checked more than his review mirror on this economy strife and has checked the mirror frequently on other issues as well. I TRUST him fully. He did contact Bill Clinton and others in making his decisions, he keeps informed, and he maintains communication with who he needs to.

Barack gets my vote, for being a: slow, steady, reasonable, intelligent man that is successful at rallying America for CHANGE. He's a uniter, and a man that appears, and acts and WILL emerge as most presidential.

Congratulations to Barack and his family for all the hard work in gaining the electorates needed. We're SIX away. SIX! It touched my heart, when he made a pledge to give his daughters what he had, he's done a great job in moving that direction, not only for his daughters and family, but the human family. He really cares and is concerned. Can you imagine how happy and proud his daughters will be when their daddy becomes the president? Over joyed, so will I. It's going to be a huge relief actually, I'll breath again. He's already completed a mission to lead a beautiful path for his daughters by working so diligently on this campaign.

All Aboard! Calm and Steady as he goes! He's the beacon of light shining through this fog.

Test the logic of statements made by homophobic organizations against these criteria.
Common fallacies of logic and rhetoric:

Ad homonym - attacking the arguer and not the argument. (I SEE THIS HERE ALLOT. :)
Argument from "authority".
Argument from adverse consequences (putting pressure on the decision maker by pointing out dire consequences of an "unfavorable" decision).
Appeal to ignorance (absence of evidence is not evidence of absence).
Special pleading (typically referring to god's will).
Begging the question (assuming an answer in the way the question is phrased).
Observational selection (counting the hits and forgetting the misses).
Statistics of small numbers (such as drawing conclusions from inadequate sample

The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan.
1.Alan Cranston (D-CA)
2.Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ)
3.John Glenn (D-OH)
4.John McCain (R-AZ)
5.Donald W. Riegle (D-MI)
-----------------------
Alan Cranston (D-CA)

He was reprimanded by the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Ethics for "improper conduct" on November 20, 1991 after he accepted $1 million in campaign contributions from the Lincoln Savings head, Charles Keating. Keating had wanted federal regulators to stop "hounding" his savings and loan association. The committee deemed Cranston's misconduct the worst among the Keating Five.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Cranston

Ted Stevens Contributed to the Meltdown

Stevens’ Latest Problem: Supporting Wall Street Donors As Alaskans Face Consequences Of Fiscal Meltdown From a Campaign Money Watch press release
Today Campaign Money Watch, a nonpartisan campaign finance watchdog group, criticized Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) for siding with wealthy Wall Street, banking, and insurance industry donors who have given him $595,279 in political donations since 1989 instead of the Alaska voters who are struggling to get by in a troubled economy that is now in the midst of a financial crisis.
http://alaskareport.com/news98/x61635_stevens_fiscal.htm

Ted Stevens helped lay groundwork for current financial crisis
Headlines across the country highlight the troubles of Wall Street and the economy, yet Senator Ted Stevens has been close to Wall Street firms for years.
"Senator Stevens helped lay the groundwork for today's financial crisis. How unfortunate that Stevens is on trial for seven felony counts related to accepting illegal gifts instead of helping fix this mess," said Bethany Lesser, spokeswoman for the Alaska Democratic Party. "Stevens supported wealthy Wall Street banking institutions, the insurance industry, and financial services industry at the expense of Alaska . Alaska families are struggling to get by in a troubled economy that is now in the midst of a financial crisis. We need a new direction that demands accountability from Wall Street and enforces oversight." (There's been an exodus and the media doesn't even talk about it.)

there's more....

McCain & Condi Rice Pals In Georgia

McCain and Condi
No one in Washington is more closely aligned with the Bush administration's decision to invade Iraq than prominent neoconservatives, who for years had regime change in Iraq as a goal as part of their philosophy that the United States shouldn't be reluctant to use its power, both diplomatic and military, to spread democracy and to guarantee world order.
Now, McCain and other politicians who pushed for the invasion are seeking to emphasize the progress, albeit fragile, of the current troop surge in Iraq.
Scheunemann was on board with the Project for the New American Century, whose letter to Bush nine days after the Sept. 11 attacks pointed to Iraq as a possible link to the terrorists.
The letter said American forces must be prepared to support "by all means necessary" the U.S. government's commitment to opponents of Saddam Hussein.
Scheunemann was among the letter's 37 signers, a Who's Who of neoconservative luminaries including William Kristol and Richard Perle.

More military:
The exercises were held less than a month before the outbreak of the 2008 South Ossetia war. Almost concurrently, Russia conducted it's own military exercises in the north Caucasus (including North Ossetia), called Caucasus Frontier 2008.
