As you all know my dad was deployed last Sunday to Iraq at 2:00 a.m. in the morning, I want to thank all here who have kept him along with the other troops in harms way in their prayers.
Prayer really works. I am not at liberty to disclose where in Iraq my dad is, but one thing I can say is where he is at there is a lot going on. He called at one in the morning Pacific standard time on Wednesday.
His third day in the field of honor and he was grazed in trhe face by shrapnel durring skirmish with Iraqui insurgents. Was treated in the field and returned to the to his job standing.
I thank the Great Spirit Grandfather for having protected him from losing his life, being that things could have been worse. Others are not that lucky. I thank alll for your prayers.
He still has many months to go in Iraq and hopefully he will be returning home safe and well before again getting redeployed.
I will be starting a support group here on PB for all PB members who have a loved one in harms way in that God forsaken land.
Our troops are the best there is and we need to fully support them at all times.
Their sacrifice is for us and our homeland. It is hoped that people really appreciate their sacrifice. They only follow orders and not to be blamed for their part in the belicose action. Please, do not let the history of Vietnam repeat it'self by blaming the troops and treating them like garbage on their return from the ongoing conflict.
Remind your legislators to insure they are properly taken care of upon their return. There is too much injustice already of misstreatment upon them having returned maimed physically and mentally.

New Anthem? What does Barack have to say about this?

I have been away from the site for a while. Last weekend was spent with my dad as family quality time before his getting deployed to Iraq. The dreaded day finally came.
It is very difficult for me and our family. I know that if it is the will of the Great Spirit Grandfather, my dad will return home safely.
He was deployed last Sunday at 2;00 a.m. Pacific Standard time. It was very hard saying goodbye.
Today I came on the site to find that there is a new anthem for America. We all know that one person can not change the National Anthem, but I ask myself, why would anyone suggest this new anthem idea and why would Barack allow for this to be promoted on his site.
This only causes division.
It makes me question the validity of the person that is doing the promotion.
I reffer to the person's background as to his true party loyalty. Is the person really a democrat or a troll passing off as a dem?

I also ask myself what does Barack Obama have to say about the new anthem?

What are the motives behind the new anthem being promoted?
Is this related to a subtle militant move from people that have separatist ideas? This is indeed very disturbing.

I hope someone can shed light on this.

I have no duobt that John McCain and the Republican Administration have always known where Osama Binladen is and has been all this time.
I also have no doubt that it has not been to their benefit to capture and kill the goose that lay's the golden eggs.
Capturig him too early in the game would have killed their excuse to make the hundreds of millions of dollars in profits for the rich oil barrons, whose trade is making money with sacrificing the lives of young American Patriots for their greed.
This may sound like a conspiracy, but I can assure you I am not the only one that feels this to be the truth.
Being it is now convenient for the republican Administration to insure control of the Administration which has a become a regime more than anything else, they are sure togo directly to where Binladen is , capture him and do an instant replay of the Nuremburg Trials.

The capture of Osama Binladen will miraculously become a reality within the next 60 days, by the time that all the hoopdelah of the Republicans capturing World wide Enemy number ONE, we will already be involved in War with Iran.
No one will even bother to prevent the involvement because the choice will not be up to our SENATE.
Israel will have attacked Iran and we will be obligated to assist our ally.
The former goose that laid the golden Eggs will be dead or on his way to meet Allah, there will be no longer need for him, because thewar with Iraq will insure the oil profits coming in from the Iran War and further escaltion of the Afganistan involvement.
McCain's statements indeed are bold, but they have the deck stacked and are jerking the chain of every single American.

What I state in this blog is what my grandpa Dine' Warrior asserts to be manifest to him by our ancestors spirits, as he goes back and forth in comunion between the Spirits of the dead while in his unconcious sleep state.

Was it not the same thing that the supporters of the other entire candidate's would attack Hillary with, They would complain she was only going through the motions because she had the fix in the palm of her hand.
I have read these comments in the past posts going back to the early months of the primaries.

During the kickoff of the candidates presidential campaigns
in the SAN DIEGO CONVENTION CENTER, WHICH I ATTENDED WITH GRANDPA AND MET A GREAT NUMBER OF PEOPLE OF WHO MANY ARE ON THIS SITE;

There were many comments made by the local papers and radio in the county and there are many comments made in the posts on this site relating to the following:

Self declared Queen Hillary R. Clinton had arrived to the convention in San Diego Convention Center opening in may of 2007 as follows:

"The @#$% Hillary Clinton came in with an entourage superior to that of any real Royalty from Europe, She is only going through the motions, while her subjects bend their knees in adoration." She is a this, she is a that, she is a whatever"

So when I see something like the posed question, it seems to me like I heard that and read that in many places before, both from TV media, radio, and pundits, politico sites, and even here on PB.

I encourage new people on this site to read the old posts, there are many, just a little over 20,000 posts in all and adding a minimum of 100 per 24 hour session.

What I see is that no one expected for the black in the race to sneak in from behind on the inside rail.
I use the term in relation to a race of quarter horses and thoroughbreds. I use it not in a racially derogatory manner. Reason for clarifying is because many take all offensively as racial attack, when metaphors are utilized.

It is sad to have to add clarifications to all comments on the race about race. My spelling is atrocious so excuse my spelling not the typos. Typos are actually spelling errors that few of us like to admit to.

Being that there have been those that have gone out of their way to bring up reparations for black people only and highly supported by those that believe the blacks are the only entitled, since the Legal Precedent was set by paying reparations to the Japaneses Americans, I want to change the subject to english only.
Being a Native American youth I love to go with my family to eat at the Buffets in the casino. I am only allowed to walk through where there are adults actively gambling at the slots on the way to the buffet.
On several occaions I come across Native Americans that speak Native American language and greet them in the language of my heart soul and forfathers.
I have had impetuos people come up to our table and yell at me demanding I speak english only, because it is the law of the land.
In order to be respectful I tactfully and very respectfully remind them, I do not demand you speak the language of the law of my land, because you are at a casino in the middle of a sovering indian Nation.
Yet even so I have had problems with very imprtuos individuals having to ask security to step in and ask them to be more respectful or they will have to leave the premises.
It is sad that this situation has had to come to pass. Usually they turn out to be individuals that got drunk after having lost all the pay check that was supposed to go to feed their family and not their gambling vice.
This annscdote I make known here is because it is a true story that has happened not only to me, but to many other of my Native American Brother's and Sisters on Native land, and in the Casinos.

I personally would not consider endorsement of any candidate of the party I choose to support. In the first place Not being able to vote would be setting myself up for the inevitable trap of being forced to lose time with defending myself from petty attacks coming from staunch over zealous supporters of the candidate whom would argue I was being a traitor for criicizing the wrong stances taken by the candidate, or being called a troll and racist. I am tired of that which is so proliferate here, as many democrats are.
It is said that it is better to contribute to fortifying the party than to bring up points which will cause further division. I am glad I can not vote now. That will be a bridge I will have to cross when I become of age.
Meanwhile my time is better spent building the party than to bring it down by outright criticism of our candidates faults. No one is perfect. However a democrat in power is much better than a republican. Again it is only IMO.
There is much I can do as a democratic youth for the Democratic Party. I invite all the youths here to build on the party.

It is not my intention to offend, I have a bad habit of being rather crude when talking about historical truths. Commitment to our culture and pride as to respect to our people we come from.
As my Grandpa Dine' Warrior and all the family members whom have served in our homelands defence, be it hand in hand with the whiteman or fighting battles against the whiteman, my blood line was there.
When our people won a battle against the whiteman it was a massacre, when our people lost a battle it was highly promoted with honors as were all the battles waged by Custer against mostly women old men and children..
I am a Dine' and Am obligated to do what I must, regardless of my hate for war.The Draft will be brought back. I will have to put my aspirations on hold to become a public servant. I am obligated to honor my forefather's, ancestors, and my elders by volunteering before I am drafted. Should it occur prior to my 17th birthday.
I am sure the Great Spirit Grandfather will bring me back in one peace to pursue my ambitions. My grandpa Dine' had turned 18 years of age one day earlier when he enlisted.
I abhore war as my grandpa Dine' Warrior, but my obligation to my people and my homeland come first.

I know the Great Spirit will not hold this against me. Many talk about how far back their family members have served the homeland. I want to share the following. The Tucson Presidio was the only one in present-day Arizona during Spain's 1779-1783 War with England. There was also a Pima Company in the last year of the war. Several accounts of those present during that period have been found. The number of soldiers assigned to the Tucson Presidio ranged from 60 to 70. The names of those identified are shown below. There were other patriots assigned to the Yuma settlements which were abolished by the Yumas 17-19 Jul 1781. Still others helped in the Expeditions against the Yumas. The soldiers of the Tucson Presidio sometimes joined soldiers from California, Sonora, New Mexico, and Nuevo Vizcaya in various expeditions affecting Arizona.

Being all politician's it is easy to do what they do best.

I point not finger's at any particular Politician, it takes little effort to recognize one if your mind is clear, and your heart in the right place.
Vote with your heart and not with logic. The heartfelt message is the one which decide's the vote in the booth.

Youth Discussion group moderated by adults? Possible? Yes or No?

To all adults here that would like to moderate us should it happen to be put together. I hope it can happen, can you adult's here please help?

Yesterday evening while on the blog titled this place is getting Wierd, After having said goodnight to all for the night, this morning I went back through the blogs and checked the outcome of that particular Post.

Annek brought up a good idea about teenage blogger's here on PB. Not so much as a battle of witt's between Bishar and myself as she made comment but on the fact that it would be a good idea to try and get all of my peers here on an issue such as race and or culture as an exchange between us youth's here on PB.
I believe it would be a wonderful opportunity if we could all set up a dicussion for us youth's moderated by the adult's here on PB Site.
Annek pointed out she would by ticket's for a sideline event as such. However not as a battle of witt between us but an authentic disscussion on real issues, such as the Race and cultural exchange issue's.
I would be very happy to participate in something as such. Sort of like youth's discussion group under adult supervision. Can any of you get together and give us some imput on the possibility.
There are many youth's here from 13 to 18 years of age, many will be first time voter's, both male and female. It would be interesting to see how we rate as to being able to maintain a civil discussion or debate, with out assasinating each other. Any taker's here that can put this together for us?

My last blog post for HRC, and a couple of other's from yesterday evening were so badly trashed by a troll whom was trying to pass off as a Latino, and also as an Obama supporter.
The language he used in spanish, was so extremely filthy and vulgar it would be offensive to all here. Serious threat made.

The person that trashed my blog's did so with full intent, directed at my persona.
The garbage was posted at 2:17 a.m Pacific Standard Time
and went by; Democrat in Daily City California.
The specially the blog in which I make my outrage known as to the vile manner HRC's character was assasinated.

The reason I know the poor excuse for a human is a troll is because, he went out of his way to overemphasize he was an Obama supporter, Native American hater, and republican racist troll, possibly even a member of the KKK,
is because of his tactic. I know for a fact it was not a Latino or member there of because, the begining of the trash went like:

Situ lambermiamelo cometale, conel boca,

the phrase is completely wrong to begin with.

The idiot learned this phrase lyrically was totally wrong on the noun and pronoun gender, misspelled the word to lick and linked pronouns and pronouns to nouns the prononoun. This Moron used many other words, that were either out of context or ended up in wrong gender attribution.

This person may think he has gotten away, but there is more than one way to pursue him and bring charges against him because what he did in the manner it was done is a violation of the law. Specially when it comes to threat's.
How can people be so low and yet so ignorant to think that they can threaten and verbally abuse, while trying to smear Afro-American's or Hispanic's attacking a Native American youth. I have copied to file his filth which I kept as proof. It is time to put an end to the abuse and set an example. This was more than just crossing the line with gutter language, and MORON HAS IT COMING.
I did not report this to Mike Link. I deleted my blog,s after I copied the evidence and saved to file.
All Mike would have done is delete it and the evidence would have dissapeared.

Not having created a profile is not going to get him off the hook.
Be very careful should he show up on your blog's. Democrat from Daily City California. I have already made a report and filed complaint with the proper authority.
The action and the threat made is extremely serious.

The millions of unsung hero grandmother's , mother's daughter's, sister's, in all of America, and all over the world whom give of themselve's over and over and over, only to be abused, and mistreated by machistic confused men, whom have not conciously realized, they have come to this world because of the great creation that The Great Spirit Grandfather blessed him to be his mother.

If anything recognize the need of all here to stop abusing and battering women all over the world. My heart goes out to woman.

It was a great woman that brought me forth to life by the grace of the Great Spirit Grandfather. Have you hugged your mom today or the women in your life. It should not just have to be once in a year, because mother's day happened. Women are here for us alway's and never tire of giving, and some men never tire of abusing.
God bless women, and may the abuse, rape and murder of women all over the world and especially in our Native Homeland come to an end.

I never in my young life thought I would shed a tear for a great woman politician, regardless of fault's, no one is perfect.

I have got to hand it to HRC. She is even a greater politician than I thought her to be. She has great fortunal strength, but it is heart breaking to see the manner in which she has been abused and her character assasinated.

Just what is a woman's place in this day and age?
Women are no longer just a grandmother, mother, daughter, sister, much less a subserviant adornment to feed the ego of a male dominant figure.
No longer is the place of the female character subjected to that of the old addage "A woman's place is in the home"
Women have now taken a very special place in everyday life.
and have come fully of age.
Women are no longer a follower into the world controled by the male authority figure, they have become major contributor's to making what used to be the world of man a much better world. It used to be said that women had six censes, and the male would call that sixth sense "Nonsense".

The truely wiseman has also come of age because no longer does he term that sixth sense nonsense but has come to recognize that in reality it is the sense of true intuition which makes sense..
Men for the most part whom are still dilusional in their selfcentered egotistical mania as to the "I am male, I am Master" you are female subspecies at my service, for my pleasure" show me a man that believe's that to be truth, and I show you a true fool.
To all women of the world I make a tribute, Where would the male species be today if not for man's better half?

My grandapa Dine' has taught me that man would have caused for the world as we know it today, not to exist. His entire family was exterminated over the trumped up excuse that some Indians had committed a robbery against certain invaders of Native land along the Ohio River, in the Spring of 1774.
The white men according to their custom would take any excuse to take it upon themselve's to punish innocent peaceful Native American's led by a Michael Crescrap and Daniel Greathouse whom attacked hunting parties of individual Native American's and slaughter them like animals in cold blood. to include women and children, just to insure they killed the right Indians. Chief Logan is mentioned in the History of Virginia.. It came to pass in that in Autumn of the same year Chief Logan took vengeance by declaring war against the white man. A fierce battle was to follow at the mouth of the Great Kenhawa, with the collective force of the Shawnee, Mingoes and Delaware Tribes. The Native American's were savagely defeated with superior weapons and great numbers of white men. As deafeated people, in order to stop the savage carnage of innocents, they proposed peace. Lord dunmore was the governor of Virginia and had demanded that Chief Logan personall apply for a treaty along with the Chief's of the Delaware and the Shawnee.
Chief logan sent a speech by messenger to Dunmore and stated:
That he appealed to any white man that could say, if he ever came to his lodge hungry and left unfed gave them fresh meat, if he came to his lodge naked and left unclothed. During the time of the previous long bloody war against the white man
he had remained in his lodge advocating peace. He had done so to save the live's of Native people and had not raised war against the white's to such a degree that he was accused by other Native American's as being a lover of the White Devil's and pointed at him when they passed.
He had even been willing to live among the White man
but because of the accusation's of one white man against some Indian people his entire family was massacred systematically in cold blood. Not one relative was left.
Not so much as one woman or child remained alive. Now the blood in his vein's flowed only in his body.
Reason enough for him to have taken revenge and killed many times many white men, not women and children.
He stated he glutted his vengeance to his fill.
For his native homeland he was happy there would be peace, but do not even entertain the thought that his joy was of fear of the white man. He had never known what fear was and would not bowdown on his knees to save his life. Not one soul was to mourn this great Chief.
Chief Logan was truly a man of extraordinary courage, he tried to keep peace to save the live's of Native American People. There are no more men now Like Chief Logan, of the Mingoe's.
Because all Native American people are one in Spirit and heart, we mourn him today. Well over two hundred years past, and we mourn and revere our Great Ancestor's from all Tribe's and Clan's. The latter is a story of true history of our people, Native America. My grandpa Dine' Warrior know's many storie's about our great Chief's from many Tribe's as they were recounted to him. And also as they are passed from generation to generation.

Cultural note.
Having been raised and homeschooled by my grandpa, as he by his grandpa, and his grandpa by his grandpa, and his grandapa by his, At a time when one of my furthest greats had been forcibly sent to a mission school, the books that were used to learn what was the common english language at the time, known now as Eclectic reader's from pre-primer to the fourth Eclectic readers were what the first great then had learned the language from. By comparison to the standards of today a fourth level reader is equivelent to a reading level of first year of college. My grandpa by the grace of the Great Spirit Grandfather had recieved eclectic books from his grandfather and some writings from those books of knowledge passed from generation to generation. There are a great number of words in those books which are basically archaic as to use in every day language. The reading lessons in those books are considererd by today's standards deemed as prose and poetry. They are full of the terms known as thy and thee, taketh, giveth, and many other archaic expressions. However by updating the words from thy and thee to the and your the context is not lost but enriched.
This was at a time when few people could read and only the wealthy could afford an education. On the other hand if you happened to be a heathen that was forced to be civilized at the cost of sacrificing your language and culture, you had to make the best of the situation, alway's looking forward to the day you could run away and be your own free person.
The english language was not adulterated then with coloquialisms nor provincialisms.

Native American's whom learned the language at that time did not have much of a hard time understanding the language.
Those that retained what they could of the Native American language and culture, when translating the Native language to the english of the time would do so in a manner considererd by the standard of many as Hokey pokey Native American english jargon.
Being the Native American tongue was not adulterated it truley translates to prose and poetry.

For example:
I am not the one, versus it is not I,
I am not lying, versus I speak truth's.
I invite you and your family to come over to my home for supper, versus
brake bread with me in my Home, in company of my family.

As said before many people think the manner in which my grandpa and I speak is peculiar, while there are those that would state that I am being disrespectful by speaking what they confusingly term HOKEY POKEY INDIAN TALK, AND BEING DISRESPECTFULL OF MY PROUD HERITAGE.

My Grandpa was born in 1948, His grandpa was born in 1855, his before him was born in 1820, and his father before him was born in 1799, in the Four Corners Area having been enslaved by spanish and forced to mission school as a child. When the spanish lost the Southwest my great great great grandfather was forced to a protestant mission school as a child having been born in 1855 ran away from his enslavers as a young man, and staying in close contact with our people. My ancestors. I am highly honored and luckey to have been chosen to be educated in the tradition of my ancestor's. Many of my ancestors at that time would run away from the reservation's and hide among the Mexican's, eventhough there was a lot of prejudice toward Mexican's then in the Southwest, it was far less brutal than against Native American's. Native American's were hung from the nearest tree accused of being cattle rustler's. That happened to Mexican's also, but it was more of a sport when it came to Native American's. This is part of me, my history at a personal level and account from generation to generation. My family member's have served in every conflict America ever had, to include the fight against the Brittish , while forcibly serving under the Spanish military in Arizona. The names of my ancestors can be found in the listed soldiers that died in the war of 1776. When Spain had become an ally to the insurgents.
My grandpa is not the last to have served in Vietnam, also many family members. I have many close relatives serving now in Iraq, Afganistan, and many served in the Persian Gulf War, Mogadishu conflict, Korea, World War One, and World War Two.

Being a youth brought up conciously of rectitude in my intentions, I have willingly opened my heart for all to see what lay in it's deepest and most hidden corner's, constitute's the strongest pillar of my principle's and my character, which is still in development as I grow in maturity.

It is sad that youth's or peer's as my self be constanly attacked by those that would wish it is not an immature youth that yearn's for the wisdom of his elder's to make his way in life.

My elder's and my mentor Grandpa Dine' Warrior, as with all my peer's have made it the main objective to teach us the art of communication through eloquence and the knowledge of effective delivery of our deepest and innermost thought's. Our elder's have made this their primary business to educate us and they maintain that education starts in the home and at a very tender age, you might say that from the moment we begin to utter sounds of garbled noises as infants.

It seem's that we are cursed to be attacked and insulted by those whom see us as some type of threat to them, or preffer to believe they are being deceived by an adult that is intentionally trying to pass off as what they are not.
I ASK MYSELF, WHAT IS THE REASON BEHIND THE ATTACK'S, WHAT IS THEIR MOTIVATION TO THEIR ATTITUDE TOWARD ME??, BECAUSE THERE ARE SEVERAL YOUTH'S ON THIS SITE THAT ARE VERY ELOQUENT AND SHOW TO BE MUCH MORE INTELIGENT AND ELOQUENT THAN I, FOR THEIR YOUNG AGE, YET THEY ARE NOT ATTACKED AS I HAVE BEEN..
DOES IT HAVE ANY RELATION TO MY BEING THE ONLY DECLARED NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH ON THIS SITE?
ASHER HEIMMERMAN, CELENA, NICK RAFTAPHOLOUS whom is campaignning for president in 2032, AND OTHER'S ALL ON MY FRIEND'S NETWORK.

DO THEY NOT UNDERSTAND THAT THE POSSIBILITY THAT MAYBE I AM NOT THE ONLY NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH HERE, AND CONSIDER THE POSSIBILITY THAT OTHER YOUTH'S MAY NOT HAVE HAD THE AUDACITY TO MAKE THEIR HERITAGE PUBLIC? IN THE EVENT THAT ANY OTHER NATIVE AMERICAN YOUTH COULD BE HERE ALSO, YOU WILL MAYBE ASK WHY NOT DECLARE THEIR HERITAGE?

WHY WILL THEY NOT DARE? THE HOPE TO CHANGE ATTITUDE'S FROM SOME DIEHARD INDIVIDUAL'S IS A PIPE DREAM. I DECLARED MY HERITAGE OUT OF PRIDE TO HONOR MY ANCESTOR'S AND MY MENTOR, GRANDPA DINE' WARRIOR. WE CAN NO LONGER DEFINE A PERSON'S HERITAGE BY CHRISTIAN FIRST AND LAST NAMES.
THE TRUTH IS PLAIN TO SEE, I BELIEVE IT IS ABOUT PREJUDICE TOWARD'S NATIVE AMERICAN'S, COMING FROM THESE PARTICULAR INDIVIDUAL'S. OR IS IT BECAUSE THE OTHER YOUTH'S HERE HAVE ENDORSED OBAMA, AND I ENDORSE NO ONE?

For the most part that is the manner in which I perceive this to be. I truely wish it were not so, but I would have to be a truly naive youth to expect hatred that has lasted for centuries to go away anytime soon. Prejudice is live and well, and it is being made public everywhere, and is being accepted as part of every day life, because of the Presidential race over race.
I also believe it is because I refuse to endorse.

I have been accused of deception, multipal screen handles, of all sort of irrational action's. I have been on the verge of losing complete control of respect for these individual's, whose name I do not need make public, all here that have seen the comments made by them accusing and attacking know who they are.

It is heart braking because I have on occasion faultered in maintaining the standard's of highest respect due to prudence being weakened. I ask of you whom are truly enlightened and mature adult's, Should I consider dropping this site, or continue with the practice of blogging post's and have to delete them, when the post's are trashed with filth and vulgar language from
from those whom seem compelled to trash my every thought on whichever issue, adding insult to mockery.

Denver's City Council president is getting hammered with hate-filled messages in response to Tuesday's surprise performance of the "Black National Anthem" by a jazz singer during a city event.

Chanteuse RenÃ© Marie had been invited by Mayor John Hickenlooper's office to sing the national anthem during his annual State of the City address.

Council President Michael Hancock, the master of ceremonies, introduced Marie, who sang what is known as the "Black National Anthem" instead.

Her performance evoked angry reactions among some of the estimated 700 people at the event.

"There is no substitute for the national anthem. Period," Councilman Charlie Brown said.

"This is the State of the City address. It's not an NAACP convention," he said, referring to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Hickenlooper and his staff said they expected Marie to sing the "The Star-Spangled Banner" and that they were surprised when she sang something different.

In a statement late Tuesday, Hickenlooper said: "I'm disappointed that this matter has been a distraction from the great work and significant accomplishments of our city employees over the past year and the many important initiatives on tap for the coming year."

Hickenlooper said in an interview that he spoke to Marie after the ceremony and that she apologized profusely.

The mayor also said that Marie told him she meant no disrespect.

"She blended the two songs together," Hickenlooper said. "She was trying to make an artistic expression of her love for the country. She did not intend to make a political statement or anything."

Marie sang the first verse of James Weldon Johnson's "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing," also known as the "Black National Anthem," but adapted those lyrics to the tune of the "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Marie said she had no regrets. She deliberately didn't tell anybody about her song choice "because I don't think it is necessary for an artist to ask permission to express themselves artistically," she said.

"I would not change a thing," Marie said.

"You have to risk things. You have to. Otherwise, you might of well live your life by a script."

Hancock said he had no idea that Marie was going to sing anything but the national anthem.

"I just read off the script, which was to introduce her to do the national anthem, so I expected the national anthem," he said.

Hancock, who met Marie for the first time Tuesday, said Marie should have cleared her song choice with the mayor and his administration.

It was "inappropriate" that she didn't, he said.

"She certainly should have given the mayor and the administration the opportunity to decide if they wanted her to sing the song that she sang," he said.

Hancock said he's been getting hate-filled e-mails over the song.

"I'm getting â�" as if I made the decision to do this â�" I'm receiving a lot of hate mail," he said. "I've received quite a few e-mails that are quite nasty."
