Barack's hand-- Barack went up to him and tapped him on the shoulder to shake his hand and he pushed his hand away so that Barack shook only Cindi's hand-- OUCH!!! I was appalled by that!! Did anyone else see that???

Time put to the nails in John's Coffin

Tonight is the opportunity Barack has needed to finally put McCain in his grave. I sincerely hope that Barack doesn't allow any of John's lies to stand. Veterans issues, trickle down economic voodoo, $800 billion in "new" Obama spending, McCain's health care "tax break"... all of these need to be pounded time and again.

Is a Black President Too Much Change for America to Bear?

BENEATH THE SPIN • ERIC L. WATTREE

Is a Black President Too Much Change for America to Bear?

Ok, let’s drop the nonsense and be real, here. If Barack Obama was White, he’d be at least twenty points ahead of John McCain in every major poll in the country. His election would have been so certain by now that Michelle would have already been sent the keys to the White House--and we all know it.

By any indicator--intellect, character, prudence, demeanor, or competence--Barack Obama is clearly not only head and shoulders above John McCain, but he’s one of the most impressive presidential candidates in the history of this nation. So what American voters have to decide at this pivotal point in our history, is how much do they truly love America. It’s time that we really embrace this question, instead of simply paying lip service to it.

Story about Obama helping a woman 20 years ago....

A breaking story about how a kind, quiet man stepped in to help a new bride get back home. This comes as no surprise to those of us who respect this man and want to see him elected.
Blogger Leisha has posted a translation of the original story first published in a popular Norwegian magazine.
The Story:

Obama Story, Norway
Mary lacked money to fly home to Norway â€" Barack Obama saved her love
ÅSGÅRDSTRAND (VG): Mary was a newlywed and ready to move to Norway, but was stopped at the airport because she didn’t have enough money for the trip. Then a stranger turned up and paid for her.
Mary Menth Andersen was 31 years old at the time and had just married Norwegian Dag Andersen. She was looking forward to starting a new life in Åsgårdstrand in Vestfold with him. But first she had to get all of her belongings across to Norway. The date was November 2nd, 1988.
At the airport in Miami things were hectic as usual, with long lines at the check-in counters. When it was finally Mary’s turn and she had placed her luggage on the baggage line, she got the message that would crush her bubbling feeling of happiness.
-You’ll have to pay a 103 dollar surcharge if you want to bring both those suitcases to Norway, the man behind the counter said.
Mary had no money. Her new husband had travelled ahead of her to Norway, and she had no one else to call.
-I was completely desperate and tried to think which of my things I could manage without. But I had already made such a careful selection of my most prized possessions, says Mary.
Although she explained the situation to the man behind the counter, he showed no signs of mercy.
-I started to cry, tears were pouring down my face and I had no idea what to do. Then I heard a gentle and friendly voice behind me saying, That’s OK, I’ll pay for her.
Mary turned around to see a tall man whom she had never seen before.
-He had a gentle and kind voice that was still firm and decisive. The first thing I thought was, Who is this man?
Although this happened 20 years ago, Mary still remembers the authority that radiated from the man.
-He was nicely dressed, fashionably dressed with brown leather shoes, a cotton shirt open at the throat and khaki pants, says Mary.
She was thrilled to be able to bring both her suitcases to Norway and assured the stranger that he would get his money back. The man wrote his name and address on a piece of paper that he gave to Mary. She thanked him repeatedly. When she finally walked off towards the security checkpoint, he waved goodbye to her.
The piece of paper said ‘Barack Obama’ and his address in Kansas, which is the state where his mother comes from. Mary carried the slip of paper around in her wallet for years, before it was thrown out.
-He was my knight in shining armor, says Mary, smiling.
She paid the 103 dollars back to Obama the day after she arrived in Norway. At that time he had just finished his job as a poorly paid community worker* in Chicago, and had started his law studies at prestigious Harvard university.
In the spring of 2006 Mary’s parents had heard that Obama was considering a run for president, but that he had still not decided. They chose to write a letter in which they told him that he would receive their votes. At the same time, they thanked Obama for helping their daughter 18 years earlier.
In a letter to Mary’s parents dated May 4th, 2006 and stamped ‘United States Senate, Washington DC’, Barack Obama writes**:
‘I want to thank you for the lovely things you wrote about me and for reminding me of what happened at Miami airport. I’m happy I could help back then, and I’m delighted to hear that your daughter is happy in Norway. Please send her my best wishes. Sincerely, Barack Obama, United States senator’.
The parents sent the letter on to Mary.
This week VG met her and her husband in the café that she runs with her friend Lisbeth Tollefsrud in Åsgårdstrand.
-It’s amazing to think that the man who helped me 20 years ago may now become the next US president, says Mary delightedly.
She has already voted for Obama. She recently donated 100 dollars to his campaign.
She often tells the story from Miami airport, both when race issues are raised and when the conversation turns to the presidential elections.
-I sincerely hope the Americans will see reason and understand that Obama means change, says Mary.

I know how to win the election.

Okay, so I am a genius. This is what we do:

So everyone is naturally full of shit right? A week before election day we get every single person who ever voted for Bush to take a very potent laxative which would result in an environmental disaster. Obama being more talented at environmental issues, then sweeps in and saves the nation from the mudslide and gains a landslide victory. The plan is flawless and symbolic on so many levels.

The Vice Presidential Debate: Biden v Boop

BENEATH THE SPIN • ERIC L. WATTREE

The Vice Presidential Debate:
Joe Biden Vs. Betty Boop

The writers can take the day off at Saturday Night Live this weekend, because comic relief won’t be necessary. Mark Twain himself couldn’t have provided better satire than the reality of last night’s vice presidential debate. The face-off between Sen. Joe Biden and Gov. Sarah Palin had the surrealistic air of a movie that combines a human actor with a cartoon character. It should have been billed Joe Biden versus Betty Boop--or Biden v Boop, if you will. But I have to begrudgingly tip my hat to Ms. Palin, even if I have to mix my metaphors, because she was forced to face Zorro with a wooden sword, and due to her fancy footwork, she almost pulled it off.

I also have to give credit to the McCain campaign. They set the stage well to mitigate a pending disaster by complaining that the moderator, veteran journalist Gwen Ifill, may have had a conflict of interest because she wrote a book on a new generation of Black politicians that included a chapter on Sen. Barack Obama. Of course, they didn’t make a big issue of it--after all, that would have precluded any journalist from writing a book that included any national politician during an election year--but they did make enough of it to possibly give Ms. Ifill pause before pursuing any of Ms. Palin’s cutesy, non-answers with aggressive followup questions to probe her grasp of the issues beyond superficial talking points. Who said desperation can’t inspire a stroke of competence?

A Stately Old Ship

The stately old vessel
Limps weakly towards port
As the rolling storm begins.
Vermin gnaw its rotting hull,
Destroying from within.
Colors that once flew proud and strong
In distant and exotic lands,
Now flutter shamefully,
Tattered and torn,
Reflecting the flaws of man.

With cheers of fading greatness,
True patriots were scorned;
Demagogues were lifted aloft,
While the ship of state we mourned.

But the old vessel was
Made of sterner stuff
By a different kind of man;
Storms and vermin and rotting hulls
It can easily withstand.
Waiting in port, a fresh new crew
Eager to take command;
A new coat of paint, and fresh colors await,
A proud ship of state's next stand.
Vote on the bailout

I am so painfully aware that we will experience another Great Depression if Congress does not come up with and pass a bail out package. I,also, am glad that this one did not pass. Main St. was compromised out of it. I want to see Main St. included and more real oversight also. As a person who did not over spend and live very low on the hog, I was wondering how all the folks who were borrowing to keep up a prosperous lifestyle and Wall St. fat cats who were making $$$$ on the folks who were overspending(and actively critizing me for not doing so...) could go on. So, if we must bail out Wall St., then we should at least help some of the folks who were bamboozled by Wall St.-Lee

So, I thought McCain was going to suspend his

campaign until there was a resolution to economic crisis... in our " fundamentaly strong economy"???

From what I can see-- he swooped in-- did nothing-- broke a promise not to debate or campaign until there was a solution... He debated-- BLINK BLINK-- and now the vote did not pass in the House and he is campaigning... BLINK, BLINK again... What does this say about his ability to lead???

Can anyone tell me why people think that this man should be our next president??? Just because he has an R after his name and they have always voted R-- Makes no sense to me...
The Fall of the New Rome

Today is a very bad day, if you read the board that fact is pretty obvious. What you may not realize this is not a crisis, it is much more than that. What is being destroyed here can not be rebuilt, even when the market does recover it will not be the same. Everyone thinks this just happened but that is not the case. This is the collapse of the house of cards we built to hide us from the real truth. Over the last few years maybe 10 we have seen the dramatic destruction of what made our country great. In the late 1930's and for decades after we were a industrial super power, so much so that we were able to manufacture enough material to win a World War. Speaking of WWII besides the manufacturing ability, it is often called the greatest generation ever. Why is that a sense of duty, courage, integrity, and the ability to sacrifice personally for the greater good.

In the 80's into the 90's we let our industrial base deplete, (NAFTA and China Favorite Nation)
We then lost our integrity with Enron and WorldCom, of course compounded by current events.
We our imports of oil at record highs we are more vulunable to countries that hate us, empowering them to attack. Both by funding them and by displaying our weakness in plain site!
With Katrina Bush let the world see us as a third world country as American's walked for days amongst their dead and dying as the country proved feeble.
Now with the collapse of our banking system and wall street we are no longer able to be the beacon of light to the world.

No longer can we say be like us, we have integrity, we have a sense of community, we are the masters of free trade. Perception effects everything, you can not undo this damage. Future generations will not know the America we knew.

Keep you eye on the big picture, people lost their savings today.

The bailout would of cost us 700 billion, we lost 1.2 TRILLION today in the market, unlike the 700 Billion that would of been a loan, that 1.2 TRILLION is just gone, no longer exists!!

Keep an Eye on the Big Picture

I can see everyone is happy with the vote today, a great win for main street? Really? Do you think so? The market is down 700 points right now, that is money evaporating into nothing, Billions of dollars just disappearing into nothing, money American's once had. People with mutual funds in their IRA, 401K funds, and individual investors just lost their shirts, and this may only be the beginning, and its already been a disaster of a summer. Of course people will now begin to hord the money they have. So less money will be donated to charities. If you work in retail, watch out! I hope you do not work in manufactoring, your in real trouble.

I am not saying the bailout was right, but neither is its failure. Lets not be too happy as we watch many of our fellow Americans sink out of the middle class into the unknown, many of them close to retirement or in retirement with little time to recover from this A Bomb of a summer.

It is a sad day, no matter what your view is on the bailout, we all lost today, maybe we never truly had a chance to win even with the bailout
