No. We're not in a recession.

We're in a depression. More evidence from Wave 3 TV news here in Louisville.

LINK

I would add to that the fact that the number of people at the closest "Dare to Care" food bank (free, "fresh" food) has increased from about 30-40 a year ago to over 80 today and gradually clmbing.

McCain will simply make things worse even IF (and it's a big if) he doesn't start more wars we can't win.

Obama must win and carry a lot of Democratic congressional reps with him.

Palin Slashed "Special Schools" Funding In Alaska. - Posted by: Edward Janus | Disability Advocate and Activist.

Republican vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin has stated in her speech that if John McCain and she are elected. Quote: “Special Needs Children Will Have an Advocate in the White House”. If this is true? I do not understand what I am reading. Please see below message. Thanks.

===============Start Message========================

Palin Slashed "Special Schools" Funding In Alaska.

From: USDemocrat-DisabilityIssues · Part of the USDemocrat Network.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/USDemocrat-DisabilityIssues/message/5380

**UPDATE** There has been a revised document regarding the Special Education Budget [12/13/06 to 12/3/06]

Sarah Palin's speech received loud applause at the Republican National Convention (RNC), especially the talking points on America first and the strong language blasting Barack Obama and Joe Biden. She also won applause on issues regarding special needs of children. However, in the "State of Alaska Fiscal Year 2008 Governor's Operating Budget" the "Department of Education and Early Development Special Schools Component Budget Summary" reveals those funds were cut by 38 percent for the fiscal year of 2008-09.

During 2006, children served by special education facilities and programs, including the Special Education Service Agency (SESA) and the Alaska School for the Deaf , received more state support; but as of 2008 and 2009, the proposed budget was cut from $7,949.30 down to $3,156.00.

Under Alaskan Budget Documents: These funds provide supplementary educational services to students with severe disabling conditions. The resident school where the child would normally be placed does not have the resources to provide an adequate educational program. Without the supplementary services, the child's needs would not be met by the local school district in most cases.

Palin sliced the program by more than half, laying out a mere $3,000 for special needs kids for the year and saving the taxpayers of Alaska less than $5,000.

===============End Message========================

My name is Edward Janus.

I am a Disability Advocate and Activist.
LGBT "Out for Obama" happy hours in Seattle

Last night, I co-hosted the second weekly Out for Obama happy hour in Seattle. We are setting up shop in various LGBT bars in Seattle, and last night was a huge success at PURR. City Councilperson Sally Clark was special guest and she gave a rousing speech that electrified the whole bar. We picked up 5 new voters for registration and scads of new volunteers. The LGBT community is a large voting block in Seattle, and we are winning back Hillary supporters, one vote at a time. The infamous "Log Cabin" Republicans are trying to make a comeback in Seattle, and last night really punctured some Republican balloons!

Next week, the happy hours move to Neighbours Bar and Grill. Onwards and upwards! A special shoutout to Cary Toland who is the co-host with the most- -his graphics for the LGBT Obama outreach efforts are awesome. And if Sally Clark ever runs for higher office--I'll be right there to support her the way she has supported my community.

Hittin the streets( It is showtime)

I know that I have been hammering the fact that volunteering is the most important thing you can do this political season. Let me say this I am not telling you to vote for who I believe in. What I am saying is to choose the candidates that you like. And get to work for them. There are too many people sittin around doing nothing. If you want things to change, you have to get off your duff and make things happen. for more than a month I have talked about my experiences and the volunteer work I have been doing. And you know what It feels great to be making a difference in my state. YOUR CANDIDATE'S NEED YOUR HELP. Local level candidates have little to no money. So any time that you can give them would be helpful. Here are some ways you can pitch in.

1. Donate your time doing simple things.(Ect)
a. Data Entry.
b. phone banks.
c. filing and book keeping.
d. canvasing (public outreach)
e. event setup (local forums)
f. envelope stuffing
g. packet prep
h. driving people to the voting center.

* All it takes is 5 hours a week and you can help your candidates immensely.

2. Places to find your local candidates, and how you can help.

a. State Democrat website.
b. County Democrat website.
c. Go down to your City Hall and find out who the
candidates are and where they are located.
d. Very few have their own website unless they are
going for the Senate or House, but you can check.

*Your precinct might need a captain get with your county democrats office to find out.

GET OUT THERE GET INVOLVED HIT THE STREETS!!!!!.....

Hi my name is Jeff I am working to change America along with you. Please listen to the political music I have made and help me get other to listen to it too. ( about SEN. Barack Obama and the dnc) I think it will be a great way to move in the campaign if we have folks who listen to r and b and hip hop listen to it. I would like more music videos and stuff like that so if you have any info to help out it would be great.. Just go to www.reverbnation.com/dnc to check out my Barack Obama song. I also have songs I produced for Us nominee Steve Kleeb for Nebraska, al Franken, for Minnesota, Rick Noriega, for Texas, and a few other but I am also making more. Please if you know of a great Person to make a hip hop song for please let me know and help me get the music out in the streets, on the radio, and on BET and MTV if we can.
Putting this out in the public is a great was to promote change. Through the music
Thank You
We had a great day talkin to the people. We met a lady who was 108 years old and after voting republican for as long as she could remember she was now going to vote democrat and she thought that Obama was a good young man he just needed to smile more. We finished six blocks and registered 7 people and amazing enough we only had four people who would call themselves a republican. Well I am taking a couple of days off so that we can input all the information we have collected over the past three days. and get ready for the grand opening of our new office. It will give me a chance to meet all of my local candidates and talk with our candidates for U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. I will be back to it starting Saturday hittin the streets.
