Don't confuse the topic

Now that I got your attention, what I am publishing is in no regards a reflection of Obama, Obama has not endorsed the people that published the statement. It is simply to view the external perspective of Obama.

-----

The FARC Terrorists were hoping and expecting that Barack Obama would win the US elections in November because he was most aligned with the Colombian Marxist group.
This document was posted at Martha Colmenares (in Spanish) and Free Republic:

6. The gringos will ask for an appointment with the minister to solicit him to communicate to us his interest in discussing these topics. They say that the new president of their country will be Obama and that they are interested in your compatriots. Obama will not support "Plan Colombia" nor will he sign the TLC (Colombian Free Trade agreement). Here we responded that we are interested in relations with all governments in equality of conditions and that in the case of the US it is required a public pronouncement expressing their interest in talking with the FARC given their eternal war against us.

United Methodists and the Bush Think Tank at SMU

What Would John Wesley Do?
United Methodists and the Bush Think Tank at SMU
An Urgent Appeal to Scripture, Tradition, Reason and Experience
http://www.whatwouldjwdo.net

The Web site you are viewing has been created to provide information critical for understanding the year-long controversy surrounding the proposed location of the George W. Bush Presidential Library complex on the campus of Southern Methodist University.

Of particular concern is the linkage of the complex – and, by extension, Southern Methodist University and The United Methodist Church – to a proposed institute (“think tank”) dedicated to promulgating the failed policies and ideology of the Bush Administration. http://www.whatwouldjwdo.net/library.php

The "anchor" for this site is an analytical letter written to delegates to the South Central Jurisdictional Conference by prominent United Methodist theologian, the Rev. Dr. Tex Sample. Dr. Sample is a retired clergy member of the Missouri Area of The United Methodist Church. A link to his letter appears elsewhere on this page. You are invited to respond to Dr. Sample’s letter and to enter into discussion with others about it.
http://www.whatwouldjwdo.net/blog

Of particular interest, too, is the extensive library of articles
http://www.whatwouldjwdo.net/library.php
that have been written about the Library complex and the proposed research institute. I also hope you will view the link to the "Protect SMU Petition" campaign; if you’ve not already done so, you are invited to join the 12,000 concerned people who have already signed the petition.
http://www.protectsmu.org

Hispanic Voters Solidly Behind Obama

Hispanic Voters Solidly Behind Obama
Few demographic differences evident among Hispanics
by Jeffrey M. Jones
July 2, 2008
http://www.gallup.com/poll/108532/Hispanic-Voters-Solidly-Behind-Obama.aspx

PRINCETON, NJ -- Hispanic registered voters' support for Barack Obama for president remained consistent and strong in June, with Obama leading John McCain by 59% to 29% among this group.

While Hispanics generally preferred Hillary Clinton to Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination, a solid majority of Hispanics have consistently backed Obama against McCain in general-election trial heats. Obama has led McCain by about a 2-to-1 margin since Gallup began tracking general-election voting preferences in early March. ...

Rather, Hispanics of differing demographic backgrounds all tend to solidly support Obama. It thus appears that there isn't much beyond a shared Hispanic ethnicity or identity that explains Hispanic voting patterns. ...

Implications

Some political experts assumed Obama's struggle to attract widespread Hispanic support in the primaries would carry over into the general-election campaign against the Republican candidate. But Hispanics have become a reliable Democratic voting bloc, and have so far shown little difficulty in transferring their loyalties from Clinton to Obama. Obama continues to lead McCain by about a 2-to-1 margin among Hispanic voters, as he has since March. Hispanic voters could be crucial in key swing states such as New Mexico, Colorado, and Florida.

While George W. Bush made a strong push for the Hispanic vote in the 2000 and 2004 elections, McCain faces an uphill climb to attract Hispanics' support, given their consistent and solid support for Obama in recent months.

---
complete copyrighted item with charts at link above
PA-05: McCracken for Congress -- A Call for Energy Independence

As We Celebrate Our Independence, It Is Time for Energy Independence.

On Friday July 4th we will celebrate Independence Day marking 232 years since our founding fathers declared that the United States of America would be an independent nation. Back in 1776, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and others showed courage, leadership and vision by drafting the Declaration of Independence creating a democratic government based on freedom and rights for the common people.

Now, 232 years later, we need to see the same courage, leadership and vision from our elected leaders to declare independence again. In 2008, the independence we need to declare is not from tyrannical leaders and an oppressive government but energy independence from foreign sources that have too much control over a product that is so vital to our nation.

To her 18 million voters, it may have seemed like an end, but I pledge to make it a beginning… a beginning of a movement to achieve the democratic and just country that Hillary has envisioned for America.

I stand together with Hillary Clinton’s 18 million voters to demand that Senator Obama and the Democratic Party:

    * Bring us together by seating 100% of the Florida and Michigan delegations in Denver with 100% of their votes, allocated in accordance with the popular vote of each state.

    * Bring us together by adopting policies on the Platform Committee that Hillary Clinton has championed.

    * Bring us together through reform of the primary and caucus system to reflect the basic principle of one person/one vote.

    * Bring us together through outspoken denunciation of all gender bias, racism and other forms of discrimination.

    * Bring us together by fairly and respectfully including Hillary and her supporters at the Democratic National Convention in Denver by, among other things, placing her name in nomination for President, conducting a roll call vote, and providing her a prominent speaking role during prime time on August 26th, the 88th anniversary of women’s suffrage.

I own my vote. It does not belong to any party. It does not belong to any candidate. It does not belong to any mob that would impose its will on me. Only I can decide how to use my vote, and I can decide based on any criteria I choose. Therefore I pledge not to give my vote to anyone who does not earn it.

http://IOwnMyVote.com

---
This site is not affiliated with Hillary Clinton for President, any candidate for president, or any political party.
AFL-CIO Endorses Obama, Launches "Meet Barack Obama"

AFL-CIO Endorses Obama, Launches "Meet Barack Obama"
by Seth Michaels, Jun 26, 2008
http://blog.aflcio.org/2008/06/26/afl-cio-endorses-obama-launches-meet-barack-obama

The AFL-CIO today endorsed Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) for president.

The AFL-CIO General Board, which voted to endorse Obama, includes presidents of all 56 unions in the AFL-CIO, as well as Executive Council members and representatives of state and local federations, trade departments and constituency groups. The General Board votes by per capita membership. In conjunction with the endorsement, the AFL-CIO launched a new website: Meet Barack Obama.
http://www.aflcio.org/issues/politics/obama.cfm

In its endorsement statement, the General Board noted that Sen. Barack Obama "secured the nomination of his party in a campaign that has energized millions of Americans and spoken to the hopes and dreams of people from every corner of our nation."

His leadership can re-engage disenfranchised Americans and bring our country together. Sen. Obama has advocated a change of direction for our nation that mirrors the priorities of the labor movement.

In announcing the endorsement today, AFL-CIO President John Sweeney said, "Barack Obama has proven from his days as an organizer, to his time in the Senate and his historic run for the presidency, that he’s leading the fight to turn around America." Saying, as a champion for working families, Obama...

knows what it’s going to take to create an economy that works for everyone, not just Big Oil, Big Pharma, the insurance companies, the giant mortgage lenders, speculators and the very wealthy. We’re proud to stand with Sen. Obama to help our nation chart a course that will improve life for generations of working people and our children.

Obama has vowed to fight for working families and for an economy that works for all—and he has the record to prove it. As a church-based community organizer, Obama assisted those affected by closing steel mills. As a state senator in Illinois, he sponsored legislation to expand health care and protect overtime pay. As a U.S. senator, Obama has earned a 98 percent lifetime rating from the AFL-CIO. And all along, he’s marched on picket lines and rallied with striking workers.
PA-05: McCracken for Congress -- Weekly Update -- June 22nd 2008

This past week had important events scheduled every day ending with a very busy weekend. Here is a brief rundown of the highlights of the week:

The first major joint debate between the 2 candidates in the 5th Congressional District was held on Tuesday at the CBICC luncheon. The event was broadcast later that evening on PCN. The feedback I've received is that the debate clearly showed the contrast where I stand on the important issues, both regional and national, and where my opponent stands. The important topics addressed included healthcare, the Iraq war and the growing crisis of increasing gas and energy costs.

Latino Democrats

Where do we stand as a community? We (Latinos) are a wildly different bunch, that has a much in common as we have differences and as many would like to divide us we some how manage to stand together. it's what makes me proud to be a Latino.

I would like to know where other latinos on this forum stand. Are they disappointed that Hillary did not win? Will they support Obama? Will they vote McCain? or will the write Hillary? or did they support Obama from the beginning?

I am a Hillary supporter and must say Obama has not impress me. Right now I am writing Hillary, that does not mean I won't change my mind either for Obama or McCain. I am simply waiting to see how it plays out.

A Look At The Republican Party Of Texas Platform

A Look At The Republican Party Of Texas Platform
by Vince Leibowitz

If you haven't yet had the opportunity to examine the Republican Party of Texas' new platform yet (and, if you haven't who can blame you - no one likes to induce projectile vomiting upon themselves), chances are you wouldn't be surprised that it is as radical and right-wing as ever. Here is a summary of the worst of it.

You are created in the image of God, period, and natural death must include executions, according to the Republicans:

We believe that human life is sacred, created in the image of God. Life begins at the moment of fertilization and ends at the point of natural death. All innocent human life must be protected.

So, if you don't believe in God, tough: you were created in his image anyway. Oh, and that "natural death" part? We assume the Texas GOP counts a lethal injection as a "natural death."

And, of course, it wouldn't be a GOP platform without gay-bashing within the first 1,000 words:

We believe that traditional marriage is a legal and moral commitment between a natural man and a natural woman. We recognize that the family is the foundational unit of a healthy society and consists of those related by blood, marriage, or adoption. The family is responsible for its own welfare, education, moral training, conduct, and property.

No surprise there.
