Universal Health Care

It is in the best interest of this nation, both morally and economically, that every citizen carry insurance on the one asset universally possessed: their body.

It is imperative that the one entity in the United States capable of enacting such a reform, the government, takes action.

This group does not dictate means of reform: single-payer, consumer-driven, value-based, and the like are contested means to a fundamentally correct end: universal health coverage.

USA is in recession | PERIOD

To many times this year I said the economy is in CONTRACTION.
On March 27 I published one post with the following name: It looks like the Titanic's History! The Economy
Everywhere outside the inner circles of Washington are talking about the economy is in recession, economists around the country are talking with data in hand and statistical methods and models, sustaining the economy is in recession.
But only the lurid government of George W Bush and his political puppets of both parties won’t to acknowledge this irrefutable reality.
One main principle in economy is the fact first and foremost recognize the crisis in the exactly magnitude where is it, with this data you can structure a plan capable to reverse this economics behaviors, otherwise any false analyze could worsened the crisis.
At this point here is is the majuscule irresponsibility of the government and the political statement of both parties, when they do not want to recognize the economy is in recession. As Germany did few weeks ago.
Now the National Bureau of Economic Research is recognizing the economy is in recession.
Yes the economy is in recession heading very fast to the worst depression ever, as a consequences of this stupid behaviors of not admit the reality and try to hidden the true of the crisis.
Nothing could be very worst than the lack of admit the realities in economic terms.
These entire politicians in charge are sinking this country in to the most catastrophic economic downturn; they are playing and buying time instead made structural correction to the economy.
They irresponsible bailout and send billion of inorganic and unproductive money to the markets.
All are accomplices of this charade of print inorganic money and send it to the market in the most regretfully method of bailing out institutions who are per se out of business.
Here is now the new reality, banks are failing, big manufactures are failing, small businesses are failing, the construction industry is failing long time ago,
Means, two of the biggest employers of this country are failing (Construction & Smalls business).
Yes, if you think the automakers or the business associates with the markets are the biggest employers you are dead wrong and this is exactly this politician of the status want to sell in order to continue putting inorganic money at the expense of the taxpayer.
These actions now are compromising at least the next two generation of Americans and they are going to pay huge for this government irresponsibility.
No one can assume this crisis is going to be resolved by any means in the next ten or fifteen years if “only if” the next administration took the necessary structural steps of corrections.
In terms of UNDO this economic crisis: “the fail of one year represent 10 years of setting back”
With this equation, President Elect Barack Obama has to deal. He has no choice! And there are not excuses about the world are in crisis or so on.
Yes, the world is in crisis, and this crisis is the failure of this ECONOMIC MODEL.
The new realignment if underway, now depend of each government how to handle the situation to prevail or to fail.

There are now 33 million people living with HIV worldwide...

WAD: 21 years

Twenty-one years ago, a summit of health ministers realised that a united global effort was required to halt the spread of HIV. As a result, World AIDS Day emerged as the first international health day in December 1988.

The aim of World AIDS Day is to bring to people's attention the worldwide challenges and consequences of the epidemic - ultimately halting the spread of HIV and improving the lives of people living with the virus.

Each year the campaign is an opportunity for organisations throughout the world to highlight the HIV pandemic in order to raise awareness and bring about change

RED ALERT | something stinking is behind the MARCH (LA MARCHA) on DAY ONE

Since the last weekend just am participating in the fiercest battle against those groups who are trying to organize a big Rally on day ONE against Barack Obama in the issue about immigration.

The list serve of many Hispanic groups in the Barack Obama web site is flooding profusely in message about this MARCH!
The organizer has nothing to say about it.

Suspicious:

I just am wondering why suddenly too many born American citizen are behind this March and are pushing our community to do so.
The answer for many Hispanic people in this group is prudence and organization before doing something like that. 85 percent or more of the participants in this discussion are Hispanic people talking and pressing for measure and organization, the others (few) are in favor of the MARCH and these unknowns born American citizens are vehemently pushing for the MARCH against BARACK OBAMA.

My questions are:

Why this MARCH on day ONE?
Why this fellow Americans are very interesting in this action against Obama?

Why they are pushing our community to do something like that on day ONE?

Who they are?

Why this March against a government who don’t address the immigration issue at this time and the Hispanic community don’t know exactly wish one is the real position of the new administration?

Why the RUSH of this organizer for this so called “LA MARCHA”

Who’s behind scene?

It’s something planned by the groups anti immigrants like the MINUTEMAN group?

Or it’s something planned by THE REPUBLICANS?
After all the only beneficiary of the negative consequences of this extemporary pressure against the new administration in our community could be the Republican Party and the anti immigrants groups, like the MINUTEMAN!

BAILOUT the VETERAN’S ADMINISTRATION (VA) | URGENTLY |

On Wednesday I receive one of the most heartbreak emails ever. A Heart Break E-mail and I posted the entirely email as it, as a proof of what is happen in the VETERNAS ADMINISTRATION (VA).

VA literally is broken in his finances and the bureaucracy in this department follow a steady course, those facts are the principals cause of dissatisfaction for many VETERANS who are rightfully entitle to receive the assistance they deserve from the VA.

This soldiers practically are begging to the VA for solutions, THE ONLY THINK THEY WANT is receive a respectfully treatment, They want his payments on time and the necessary medical assistance they need, They want to be loved by his country as they much loved it.

Not enough was the discovering of the disastrous mistreatment they suffer in the Walter Reid Hospital, they receive promises and some improvement, just the necessary actions to calm down the media, but the really true is nobody is talking about the continue injustice this proudly HEROS receiving every single day from the VA.

If there is some institution in this country need a BAILOUT is the VA, they has the great responsibility of taking care of all VETERANS?

Of course at this point there are not EXTRAORDINARY session of the CONGRESSMAN favoring any solution in this mess of the VA, NOT special declarations of the Speaker of the House, or the Majority Leader calling for immediate and expedite solutions of the SOLDIERS problems dealing with the VA, as they did easily in FAVOR of the corrupted institutions in wall street.........NO, there are NOT prefabricated NEWS CONFERENCE voicing for a quickly and smart solutions for the VETERANS ADMINISTRATION , there are NOT RUSH to solve his problems, NO pressure to the people and fancy explanations to secure VOTES.

At the end of the day nothing is going to happen, may be they think …….. THEY ARE TOO LITTLE AND TOO POOR.

It’s incredible and hard to believe, these two young soldiers practically begin for money because the VA unwariness’.

I can't visualize how this kind of differences could happen in this country?

Lawmakers know what happen in the VETERAN ADMINISTRATION, this is nothing new, this problem coming from years before. But always they couldn't find out the right solution, only promises and long time lapses and debates, until something special come out trough the media like this issue of the Walter Reid. I just wondering if someone of these busy lawmakers of Washington are going to read this: A Heart Break E-mail.

Why does the Congress ISSUE a rush and fair “BAILOUT” to the VETERANS ADMINISTRATION (VA) solving definitively and permanently all the PROEBLEMS THEY SURELLY HAS, as a real signal of gratitude for all what this soldiers did, after all is his responsibility's to do so.

Just am calling for some justice and sensibility to the attention of the President-Elected Barack Obama, I do not expect nothing being solve by the Bush Administration.

Just am calling to the leaders of the Congress for an EQUAL TREATMENT for these citizens, who with his WATCHS and exposures in dangerous way are granting the LIBERTY AND SECURITY of his countryman and them as congressmen’s they fully enjoyed.

This proudly man’s and women’s of the United States Armed Forces, HERO’S of the past and present wars, deserved nothing less than EQUAL TREATMENT, quickly and expedites solutions for the VETRANS ADMINISTRATION (VA), as others entitlements or institutions recently receive from the United State Congress.

If President-Elect Barack Obama.....

Succumb to the immense pressure of the lobbyist companies in favor of the automakers he probably loose the great opportunity he has now to reshape the country and all this mess in to successfully and productive economy.

When I see Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and all this lawmakers make pressure in favor of this incense policy instead have measure due to the big failure of the previous bailout they craft in the most irresponsible act of congress since the great depression. I have not doubt how much power this industries have.

In conclusion is time for real change instead throwing the money to the trash using this money for companies who already are dead because they fail to be competitive and productive.

I am not against these companies, I like the GMC Subaru, but in terms of competitiveness they are out of the market; they can’t compete in any way with his close competitors like Toyota or Honda. These two foreign automakers as an example invest a lot of money in this country, building lines of production that send to the market products made by Americans hard workers full of competitiveness among of quality and price.

By the way I just heard today this automaker from Detroit who are begin for government bailout using the taxpayer money, have a huge investment in the markets; they are bankers too, and they profited for a lot in this business, then now this is one of the reasons they are in troubles. They want easy money and they playing hard in the game of taking risk instead of made real changes in his line of production and adequate his products according to the new reality.

I just wondered if the new administration can resist such behavior and temptation instead made structural correction to the economy.

I hope Barack Obama don't loose the great opportunity he receive clearly form the people of this country and don't defraud the next generation of Americans who are watching very close what his going to do.

It's about time, let's see what happens

Thoughts on Propositon 8

Sorry I did write about this before, the Obama euphoria was still alive and thriving when I heard and I have recently descended back from my previous state of mind, so here we go.

I support those seeking appeal to the ban on marriage between two people of the same sex who love each other so much they want to commit to life together.

I support the protests in California that are taking place. I would in all places California would be the LAST place to do this atrocity - since it has a strong, politically active GLBT population. For those of you in California who depend on others to motivate- from all the way in homophobic Ohio, GET YOUR ASSES IN GEAR! I want to marry in California before I even consider getting married in Connecticut or Massachusetts( no offense, I love New England fall foliage).

The time is now to act.

Change may have come to America, but the same effort we put into electing Barack Obama should be put into protesting this bill and fighting for our equal rights.

It is a change we can all believe in.

Sweet Victory

I do apologize to all my friends here because I have been busy with school, work, life, and getting Barack Obama elected I have been unable to frequent much of this board as often. But I do have to tell you something.

I can't believe the reality around me. I'm not addicted to illusion, but I cannot believe that after 8 years, democracy came back full and strong and the man i busted my ass to get in office GOT IN!!! OMG! I could not jumping up and down, screaming, shouting, smiling, crying, etc. Somebody pinch me! I partied for 3 hours with one of my friends and we couldn't help ourselves. Yesterday, because I didn't want to jinx anything( because the last election I got so wired that I fell into a two month depression after hearing about the returns) so I tried being oblivious to politics. I voted absentee, followed my own advice to combat voter suppression, and next thing I know my state is finally BLUE!!! AND BARACK OBAMA IS THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best part about hearing this was the gratifying experience that I helped elect him. I blogged, I talked with people, I distributed campaign literature, I phonebanked, I volunteered and attended a debate, I voted in my first presidential election, and for the first time, I feel like a citizen of these great United States of America. It's a wonderful feeling. It really is. I lived history. I helped elect the first African-American president. I feel so good I want to cry! It's finally happened!

Today, in the spirit of President Obama, I did not gloat to my Republican friends. In the past couple elections, they have gloated, which prolonged the partisan bickering. But, no, I managed to successfully put aside my desire to gloat for the sake of the betterment of this country. It feels wonderful.

All this is starting to sink in, and I can say what I learned throughout this whole campaign is many. I am a believer in progress and equality, and I am proud to have racial consciousness.

Yes We Can? YES WE DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How To Stop Voter Suppression

1. If you have voted early or voted absentee, call your county Board Of Elections and make sure your vote will be counted.

2. If you plan on voting November 4th, make sure that your precinct and your voting location is running smoothly.

3. If the Board Of Elections is lying to you or you feel like they aren't being 100% honest, ask them again the previous questions of whether your vote did come in, ask if they have it on record.

4. In light of point 3, if they hesitate or deny, it helps to reference the ACLU and say ( and know) you will be taken seriously.

5. If you encounter a glitch with your voting machine, report it to your poll workers. It is their job to fix it and steer you out of it.

6. If the poll worker refuses to do their job, then, by all means, talk to their supervisor and call your county.

These points will help stop voter suppression. We let it get away with us in 2000 and 2004, and accountability must be respected and preserved for the sake of democracy.

Oh, I forgot to mention, if you know how to contact your state's electoral college, remind those who belong to it of their Constitutional duty. They seem to have forgotten about that recently.

VOTE FOR CHANGE!
Final Debate Thoughts

Compared to the last 3, I didn't yell at the TV a lot, which is a feat from someone with my blood.

I can say that John McCain has some nerve equating criticisms of record to negative personal attacks filled with racial epitaphs and slurs. "I am proud of my rally audiences?!" I dropped my jaw so far I had to pick it up from the ground after getting on my hands and knees looking for it. I wouldn't be proud of a growing angry mob that trives on the silent condoning of racist statements.

I did expect that Obama would rise above and put the issues first, and he did, with the confrontation fueled by denial McCain was pulling, showed off so much respect and humility I couldn't help but feel proud.

But, I was even more proud of the "silent" star of the evening, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, who played her cards right and gave McCain the right advice for Obama to make himself look like the obvious choice for President and McCain stumble. And McCain was too smiley denial-y to know it.

In speaking of that, I hated the way he condescended to Barack Obama like a Southern plantation owner to a shoe shining slave in the 1840s and the slave could read! Please don't interpret that last sentence as a racial slur, it was meant to make a metaphorical connection to McCain. Obama is not stupid, so, stop talking about him and to him like he is. Outside of his excuses and falsities, he really was pathetic tonight. And, I say this with no overconfidence, Obama has the Presidency.

The Tina Fey Effect

For those unaware of the past few weeks on the comedy circuit, and for those who are aware and want to laugh it up some more. I would like to break from serious talk and share with you the three Tina Fey as Sarah Palin SNL videos I found.

Recently, a McCain/Palin campaign official thinks that Tina Fey's spot-on impersonations of Sarah Palin are hurting the Republican chances of winning this election. It's obvious that the official has no sense of humor that doesn't involve racial epitaphs and mob building( if one finds that stuff humorous), and it's all so obvious that the campaign official isn't looking at the way McCain and Palin are playing the political game, either. What is SO obvious is that Tina Fey's comedic talents aren't the ONLY thing that is responsible for the slide in polls. Could it be the economy that you don't want to discuss anymore? Could it be the plans you say you have but actually will hurt America more than help it?

Sorry to kill the impending comedy, but I really couldn't help the fact that there is usually one serious paragraph in my posts.

Here we go, laugh your antlers off to this one while drinking from your Joe Six-Pack!
Palin' with Sexism

This has been an historic election already, a real push for social progress in this country. In the campaign alone, we have had an African American man successfully compete for the highest political office in the country, a woman successfully complete for the highest political office in the country, and a woman compete for the second highest political office in the country.

I've been recently asking myself, yet again, whether my feelings towards Sarah Palin can be interpreted as sexist. Outside of the baby eating rumor, I have made jokes to my friends about her sex life with her husband Todd. Of course, I always tell myself that it is policy before personal. On policy, Palin would pain America extremely.

I know in the past I have writtten posts that combat sexism towards Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi as well as other women on my political side of the spectrum. After all, I know how hard it is to be a woman in power and not afraid to be passionately assertive in the process. But, I can't imagine how hard it is to be a woman in power in a political party that hates you, like Sarah Palin.

I can say that the rumors I heard when she was announced VP upsetted me, and the fact that even in my humor, the thought that they could be interpreted as preferential sexism upsets me. I should know better.

But, it is a challenge, because Sarah Palin is far from pro-woman in regards to her politics. She doesn't believe in the free reproductive choice for women as I do. She doesn't believe that women are just as capable as a man in everything that doesn't require a penis. And, this is only the crust of the disagreements I have with this person, not to mention the fact that she was chosen by John McCain just to pander to women voters, especially those still upset about Clinton.

In my sociology class today, someone who is obviously a Republican (" I know I'd rather die than defend Hillary Clinton") said that Palin and McCain have been oppressed in this campaign too. That got me fired up because society favors the fact that they are rich and white, and with McCain, the fact that he is white, rich, and male. She was saying how Biden talked down to her during the VP debate as if she had no clue what she was saying, which, in credential perspective, she didn't. I don't consider my criticisms of her credentials to be sexist, because if she was a man, they would be the same. I can't simply take someone seriously politically when asked about what she feels her credentials about foreign policy are with the response : "I can see Russia from my house!" I can see the Cleveland Clinic from my dorm room, but that doesn't mean I'm qualified to be a doctor.

Now, part of me wonders whether if Palin is milking the dumb beauty pageant contestant to satisfy the expectations of what the Republican Party expects of its women. But, I know that Hillary Clinton wasn't milking her passion for the Presidency that led her to tears, so I guess I might have a double standard.

Sarah Palin in the 84' Miss Alaska swimsuit competition...what tha???

What is with McCain and beauty pagent contestants??? I'm not trying to be humorous either. This youtube video is a MUST SEE. This is the best V.P. choice the GOP could come up with? It's a shame to use this woman in such a transparent manner. It's degrading. I really hope to see a serious woman on the ticket one day, but Palin is such a step backwards. Dang it. What was McCain thinking...I hate using this phrase, but based upon her vapid, incomprehensible answers to tough questions, Palin may actually be a "low information voter"...and he chose her for his V.P. Wow.

Perhaps someone should advise McCain to quit hanging around beauty pageants.
The Palin A &W

AS most of you read and some of you heard, the Republican Party is using what it has left now to try and win this election, the fear card. McCain and Palin want to milk that cow no matter how little America cares for it now. Of course, to the some Americans who do care and will only respond, vote, and live in the constant influx of fear the Bush Administration has been handing out and manipulating us towards for the past 8 years, without fear they aren't secure. Shame, because Americans shouldn't be afraid anymore or ever. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

We have done very bad things when we fall into fear's hands. In the late 40s and 50s, we blacklisted people we thought were Communists just because we were told to be afraid of Communists. Many innocent lives were stripped of their dignity during that time period. In the 60s and 70s, social innovators like Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Angela Davis, Jane Fonda, Dolores Huerta, the Chicago 7, and many more were wiretapped because people were told that the change they were bringing was bad. Many innocent lives were stripped of their dignity during that period in time too.

And, now, we have McCain and Palin playing the fear card similarly to that effect in the last months of this campaign for President, with talk of Obama's "terrorist connections" and his "pastor problems." In fact, at a rally the other day, they stood by and stood silent when people were shouting " Terrorist!" "Treason!" "Kill him!" and even told an African American cameraman to "sit down boy." Is this preparation for Bill O'Reilly's "lynching party" the right-wing is planning when and if Barack Obama is elected president?

Fear makes people ignorant of facts that challenge, rebut, and disengage fear. Palin may speak of Ayers and Wright, but here are facts and clarifications they are too ignorant and fear-based to consider:

1) Ayers, though identified as an American terrorist, was taken off the list in 1989.

2) Barack Obama was only eight when Ayers was identified as and did do terrorist actions to get his point across.

3) Ayers, now a college professor, words about what he did were taken out of context to scare the population into voting Republican and screwing this country over for 4 more years.

4) Barack Obama was distanced himself from Rev. Wright. Though a hard choice to make, the fact that he distanced himself is honorable on his part. Just because one's pastor is angry doesn't mean the congregation member is. That would be just like saying that just because when I was little and had a homophobic priest, that I must be homophobic too.

5)Rev. Wright is historically justified in his anger because America hasn't really been all that great to Americans of African descent in the past 228 years of our existence.

6) Compare: Jerry Falwell blaming gay Americans for 9/11 versus Rev. Wright blaming Americans for 9/11 in general and look particularly at the media covering those events. Do you see a double standard?

Take these points into serious consideration. Look at the way the Republican Party is manipulating these to create unpatriotic fear in American citizenry.

Sarah Palin says she "worries that Barack Obama doesn't see America as you and I see America." Translation: Sarah Palin is scared to death that an American of African descent can achieve that amount of political power and become the president, and will say anything to demean, degrade, and discourage his potential. Also, "you and I" means "white America" and "rich America." I can just picture her asking " how can we preserve our assets when someone we've been trying to repress success from climbs over our shoulders and achieves it? He needs to be put in his place, which is polishing my shoes at the Wasillia Mall."

The Republican Party and the McCain/Palin '08 campaign is on its last legs if they keep holding themselves up to this.

A Leader Was Born Tonight

A leader was born tonight, and delivered. Of course, Barack Obama has always been a good leader, but tonight he really shined. The way he addressed the town hall and Senator McCain showed great humility and compromise, and a willing to work.

McCain used every trick in his book, but they failed, at least to the Ohio voters who appeared "uncommitted." Ohio is officially a blue state, because we no longer want to get the blues from John McCain.

Also, why was there NO mention of Sarah Palin? McCain kept mentioning Lieberman, has he changed his mind?

Palin profanes the sacred "hockey mom" spunk

Sarah Palin's vague, evasive responses during the debate and her performance during the Charles Gibson and Katie Couric interviews confirm a vital weakness about the Republican Party and raises a few new concerns about Sarah Palin, "hockey moms," and their "soccer mom" counterparts. They are:

1 - The Republicans don't have anyone close to Geraldine Ferraro or Hilary Rodham Clinton as serious-minded contenders for the office of President of the United States, which is unfortunate for the GOP because hockey moms are an important demographic and...

2 - I have always suspected that Sarah Palin is neither well-read nor well-travelled which equates to a diminished capacity for critical analysis of complex world issues. Recall that during the Katie Couric interview she couldn't give an answer to what kind of political magazines and newspapers she reads, and mocked the intellectual-types who send their kids off to backpack across Europe. What better way to learn about the world around you?

3 - Sarah Palin is undoubtedly passionate and full of "spunk." But I don't want someone with spunk running the nation. I'd prefer a considerate, strong-willed, intelligent person.

4 - I also suspect that Palin's world view reflects that of a lot of other hockey moms - they know very little about the world around them. Perhaps being overburdened with raising families, running the house, keeping their children safe, and getting kids to and from school leaves little energy or time to consider the woes of the nation and the world beyond the ice-rink, the soccer pitch, or the cul-de-sac. One thing is for certain - the Sarah Palin demographic is a large group, they are a key swing vote, and they send an awful lot of their children into harms way via the military. I desperately want to be wrong about this one. My son shares the pitch with a lot of shiny-eyed, beautiful young people.

The Borowitz Report

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and her half sister and famed author Anne Rice of The Vampire Chronicles, on Sunday rejected any suggestion that U.S. efforts to build closer ties to this former Soviet republic are meant to undermine Russian influence in Central Asia.
Both admitted however that there was growing concern world-wide about the continued growth and influence of vampires in the Russian government and the Russian society in general!"First of all, Kazakhstan is an independent country. It can have friendships with whomever it wishes," Anne Rice said. "That's perfectly acceptable in the 21st century, so we don't see and don't accept any notion of a special sphere of influence" for Russia in this region. Condoleezza Rice agreed.
In a precedent-setting case of corporate involvement in a nationally televised political debate, Mad LibsTM revealed tonight that it had sponsored Gov. Sarah Palin's answers in her vice-presidential face-off with Delaware senator Joseph Biden.
In exchange for the exclusive sponsorship, Mad LibsTM agreed to provide Gov. Palin with a special Mad LibsTM edition composed entirely of answers to vice-presidential debate questions."We are happy as a [kind of shellfish] to have sponsored Governor Palin's [synonym for idiotic] answers, which showed the American people just how [synonym for gigantic] a [type of ape] she is," said Mad LibsTM spokesperson Carol Foyler. While Mad LibsTM refused to reveal the entire collection of answers they provided to Gov.
