Politically Active's Blog
About the Author
I am blogging to bring the Democratic party back. I blog for the American people, to inform them about politics and the latest news.

The Christian Right has taken a position of Homosexuality of Biblical proportions. They have an extreme view of the issue that is beyond homophobic. They do not even view homosexuality as a civil rights issue. Theirs is a distorted view that is disturbing to listen to.

Let me start by defining the Christian Right. They are a very conservative group of Christians who interpret the Bible literally. They are typically Republican and almost all are anti-gay. They are not bad people but just a group with very extreme and sometimes distorted views of reality.

The Christian right views homosexuality as a sin. Their belief is that you will not enter God’s kingdom should you commit this sin and not repent. They view it as a perverted lifestyle that God does not permit. They base their argument on the Bible and believe that homosexuality is not a civil rights issue but an issue of what is right and wrong in the eyes of God. They claim that homosexuals are going against their own bodies. These right-wing Christians are not only against gay marriage but against homosexuality in general. Never do they ask, “ Why would God have anything against homosexuals?”

I have listened to a Minister who shares these viewpoints speak on the topic. When talking about transsexuals and sex changes or just homosexuality in general, the Minister spoke with a tone of disgust. He called homosexuality perverted and uses terms such as “sick sexual thrill.” The condescendence was plentiful and the realism scarce. He spoke with a tone of absolute disgust that frankly scared me.

In the upcoming days I will be further examining the viewpoints of the Christian Right and explaining why they are wrong. Please remember that I am generalizing and that not all right-wing Christians share this viewpoint. This issue is beyond politics. This is civil rights, and civil rights goes beyond politics.
Starting tomorrow I will be posting of series of posts on Gay Rights and why the Christian right has it all wrong. This isn't politicial to me. This is a civil rights issue that goes beyond politics. The titles of the posts will be as follows.

1. The Christian Right's Position on Homosexuals

2. Why the Christian Right is a Hypocrite on Gay Rights

3. The Christian Right's Claim that the Bible Prevents Homosexuality is False

4. The Christian Right's Outright Lies About Homosexuality and their False Misconceptions

5. Why Can't We Question God's Word?

Go here and explore what you can do. Now is the time to solve the climate crisis. We cannot wait. This is a real problem, the most urgent problem facing our country and our Earth. Follow the link and find out what you can do. My group is Massachusetts for the Gore Plan, but you can join even if you are from out of state.
Please call or e-mail the following members of Congress who sponsored/cosponsored the Drill Responsibly in Leased Lands Act. This was the Democratic energy bill presented in a way that it needed a 2/3 majority to pass. They knew it would fail; it was presented this way so it would fail and the Republicans could be blamed for the failure. Tell these congressmen that we have real problems facing us and we do not have time to create bills like this that will fail for political reasons. Tell them that this cannot continue and that we must start working in a bipartisan manner if we want to solve the problems facing us.

There is no doubt in my mind that Barack Obama will do the most as president to help the middle class. But will he do the most for the economy? I have not once heard him talk about cutting pork-barrel spending. I have not once heard him talk about Wall Street Woes. I have not once heard him talk about strengthening the dollar. McCain cares about these things. Fixing these problems will help the overall economy. Cutting middle class taxes will help fix these problems, but there are other steps to take.

Barack Obama has the best plan to help the middle-class. John McCain seems to have the best plan to help the overall economy. I am wary of BHO's spend, spend, spend plan. I know we can ill afford another Republican President, but Senator Obama had best smarten up on the overall economy. He needs to take a Bill Clinton approach. Clinton was good to the middle class, but also worked toward balancing the budget. Be wary Senator Obama. We cannot keep borrowing money from China.
This is a joint post about two unrelated topics. To start, offshore drilling.

Offshore drilling will do absolutely nothing for your gas prices. It is a stupid idea that is bad for wildlife. We need to move away from oil. Dick Cheney's drill, drill, drill strategy hasn't worked and will never work. Don't let Mac and Doubleya fool you on this one.

I am also wary of Obama because all he wants to do is spend. Faith-based initiative, things like that. It is a well-known fact that he won't balance the budget. Having a balanced budget is important. Bill Clinton was able to acheive a somewhat balanced budget, but generally Democrats haven't cared about the budget. This worries me.

Peace.
A Democratic energy bill recently failed in the Senate. The reason it failed: the Democrats presented it in a way that it needed a 2/3 majority to pass. This way it would fail and they could blame the Republicans for the failure. This is why I am still for Obama. He will bring people together to get things done. We all know what the problems and our legislators, if not us, know how to fix these problems. So lets stop wasting time, creating bills that will fail for partisan reasons. Lets solve the problems facing this nation so my great-great-grandchildren will have a safe planet and country.

P.S. If anyone (Liz) has the bill number of name I would like it so I can find the sponsors/cosponsors and call their offices.

Can you believe him? I am getting really disenchanted. He is very out of touch and condescending. He doesn't understand that English is a problem for some kids. This is amazing.
1. Call your Congressman today urging them to support The National Highway Bridge Reconstruction and Inspection Act H.R. 3999. Our infrastructure is falling apart.

2. The DNC is distorting John McCain on their home page. They say John McCain and Phil Gramm think economic problems are "phsycological." Nice going. McCain has denounced the remarks. Isn't this exactly what Barack Obama doesn't want?

3. In defense of the New Yorker cover, they are willing to talk about this very sensitive subject. I do think they went too far, but it wasn't that bad.
I just finished up the HBO series John Adams. I highly reccomend it for anyone who likes politics, history, or just an all around good show. On a politically anylitical note I noticed some odd similarities between the Adams administration and Bush administration. The Adams administration passed a law that prohibited anti-government material from being circulated. This is obviously unconstitutional, just like FISA. Adams himself did everything he could to prevent a conflict with the French during his presidency. This cost him the next election, as the nation was hungry for war. Adams' Karl Rove-like advisers advised he keep the possibility of a French conflict alive and win the election on fear. Of course Adams did not, but doesn't that sound like something the Bush administration has done? i just thought I'd put this out there. Now Bush can't even say, "Well, ummm, at least I was original."
Lately Barack Obama has been moving toward the center of the politicial spectrum, from his vote on FISA to his Patriotism Speeches. As a liberal, he is dissapointing me to the point where I wish I had Hillary as the nominee of the Democratic Party.

I first supported Barack Obama back in January after John Edwards dropped out of the race. I thought Obama was going to save this country. To me he was a different type of politician, and I thought he really was going to bring about change. I wasn't really worried about experience at the time, I knew he would find a way to get things done as president. Now I am worried about an Obama presidency.

With his latest flip-flops, Obama has shown he is weak , naive, and pandering. He doesn't understand that we don't need to have an unconstitutional FISA bill to fight terror. He doesn't understand that feeding the hungry is more important the feeding a Hummer that should be illegal (he supports ethanol). I am beginning to doubt his ability to deal with countries like Iran. He is too much of a naive idealist. He needs to be a realist like Hillary.

He has also flip flopped on Iraq, backing down from a previous position that got us out in 16 months. He says he agrees with the supreme court in striking down the DC Gun ban, but before he was for it. I am glad he flip-flopped on these issues, as these I like the new positions better. But flip-flopping makes him look weak, like a regular politician.

I cannot support John McCain. His policies are terrible and I know that another Republican would be bad for this country. I know party unity is most important, and I know we cannot have Hillary and party unity at this point. I will still be volunteering Obama, because I know he is the best choice. I just want to put it out there that the Democratic Party could have done better.
I am sad about FISA. Not only did the bill pass, but Barack Obama voted for it. I am no longer inspired by our nominee. He has no spine and is a pandering flip flopper. I want Hillary, but we can't switch now. It is sad that Obama has changed so much.

However, you should be happy to know federal lawsuits have been filed to repeal the FISA bill. We have no power here, but we know the bill is unconstitutional. Let's hope the courts do what they are there for.
I wasn't alive in 1988, but I've heard about the race. Dukakis was up by 12% in July and everyone thought he was a shoo-in. He lost. So I have a simple message today to my fellow Democrats and Obama supporters: DON'T GET OVERCONFIDENT! Obama is not a shoo-in. This race is far from over. We have a little less than 4 months until election day. So calm yourselves Democrats. We have a lot of work to do.
I just discovered we can Private Message again.
So far, 8 Senators support the Dodd-Feingold Amendment stripping retroactive immunity from the Telecom companies. Seven oppose the amendment. Call your Sennators now asking them to support this ammendment. Also call John Rockefeller of West Virginia and ask why he as a Democrat is not supporting this amendment.
I have only recently discovered Partybuilder, and I have enjoyed the month that I have spent here. I would like to advocate for the keeping of the name and having a site open to all. Some Republicans can share our views, and as long as they aren't here to cause trouble I am fine with having them here. Also, I am not registered to vote because I am too young. So if this site was only for registered Democrats I would be out.

Folks, we all disagree on many things. At my church we made a banner that said, "We are different, that is good." However, there should be an agreement that all new members must read and agree to. Not all the legal crap, but an agreement to refrain from using any foul language and attacking anyone. No hate crimes, not attacks on faith, race, or any of that jazz. Let us make this site great again. I will be coming up with an agreement.
If anyone is interested, I just created an Anti-PUMA group.
Hillary supporters, I want you to start listening to what your candidate is saying. At the Unity event she told her supporters to vote for Obama. She told you not to vote for McCain and not to not vote. So stop the nonsense. All it does is divide the party.
I want to make a quick post here about the hate on this site. People are leaving, made at the hate that is spreading around this site. I am here to blog my opinion and connect with other Democrats. I don't want this site to turn into a place where Democrats express their hate. This site should become certified as a No Place For Hate Community, and the Democratic Party Officials should remove the haters now. Let's start to use this site for what it was made for.

Good night and good luck.
