And now Second City is headed to the Democratic Pary Convention in Denver as the headline entertainment at a "Chicago Night" hosted by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill).
Comedian Bernie Mac died at Northwestern Memorial hospital early Saturday morning, according to Sun-Times Columnist, Stella Foster. He was 50.
Though the cause of death has not been confirmed, Mac had been hospitalized recently for pneumonia. Foster said that she received calls early Saturday morning from a close friend of the Mac family, confirming the reports of Mac's death.

Relative of US Olympic coach killed in Beijing
An American tourist was killed when a Chinese man attacked two relatives of the US Olympic volleyball team coach at a popular tourist attraction in northern Beijing on Saturday. An American woman and a Chinese tour guide were injured in the attack.
The incident took place on the second level of the Drum Tower, an ancient monument, which was used to tell time centuries ago. Shortly afterwards, the 47-year-old attacker, identified by local police as Tang Yongming, committed suicide by jumping from the Tower.

On August 9, 1945, the American B-29 bomber, Bock's Car left Tinian carrying Fat Man, a plutonium implosion-type bomb. The primary target was the Kokura Arsenal, but upon reaching the target, they found that it was covered by a heavy ground haze and smoke, pilot Charles Sweeney turned to the secondary target of the Mitsubishi Torpedo Plant at Nagasaki.
Of the 286,00 people living in Nagasaki at the time of the blast, 74,000 were killed and another 75,000 sustained severe injuries.
