I keep hearing The GOP refer to Obama as the "MOST LIBERAL" senator. They use this as a game, they claim its a bad thing.
The funny thing is every democrat who runs for high office is labeled the MOST liberal of all. Last time it was John Kerry.
Has Kerry become less liberal?????

How shameful ONLY 14 democrats and 1 Independent voted to uphold the Constitution regarding FISA.
Our nominees did NOT bother to show up!!!!

I started out liking Obama.
However the more he campaigned and the more I see, the less enthused I am and more firmly a supporter of Hillary Clinton or yes, draft AL GORE.
What I am dismayed about:
Rhetoric with little behind it.
Slogans that have little meaning in fact.
Staged speeches always instead of direct answers which itself is a type of arrogance and an avoidance pattern which we have already been privy to during the Bush Administration. And dont forget the staging no less than 8 flags to insure it would "appear presidential". Is this different from a custom made flight suit really?
I do not agree that watering down legislation is worth while. Obama's health plan is the weakest of any of the candidate's we have seen thus far on the democratic side. Also he never explains how keeping health insurance in the private insurance category while NOT mandating coverage for all can in effect end up affordable. Statistically that is unsound. You need to keep the pool whole, that is full of sick and healthy people in order to defray the costs and have the risks more even so as to produce lower cost premiums.
Mr Obama's only statement to seniors was I wont Tax Social Security if you earn less than 50,000. Sorry but that isnt offering much at all to people on fixed incomes wondering how to tackle this unheralded inflation we are now seeing. When home heating oil rises 20% or more a year you are scared silly on fixed income. Can anyone afford to retire now?
Not standing for counting EVERY SINGLE VOTE as a democrat turns my stomach and casting aside two states out of fear is simply wrong. No you cannot equally divide the delegates when you didn't win the votes! And Florida was changed due to Republicans yet democrats are being punished and their votes excluded (Despite heavy turn out and Obama's name on the ballot).
Sadly, I am troubled by Rev Wright because Mr Obama's first response was to dismiss, then to not state the truth, then to give a speech without direct answers and never the real answer to a simple question. If Rev Wright's political views are very different from Mr Obama's why was he on the campaign committee?
I do like a candidate who offers less rhetoric and more solutions. Right now we are in quite a mess both economically, with regard to world standing and more. This is not just a time for motivational speaking it is a time for real hard nosed solutions.
I also was very turned off by Rovian tactics of taking the strength of the Clinton Administration and turning it into a disadvantage. While you can criticize many things racism was not part of their administration. Then too, they had one great success for people everywhere, bringing more poor people into the middle class than before. And now we have more middle class people becoming poorer daily.
These things have troubled me greatly and I haven't seen the campaign as stated transcend race and more as promised.
I also despise the sexism in the media and a certain comment by Mr Obama which was allowed but displayed great sexism itself, that was describing Mrs Clinton as having "PERIOIDIC bursts of emotion". I cringed at those words from a man and a campaign which has been so sensitive themselves to criticism.
I could go on about other stances which seem hypocritical like seeking monied supporters who are only bad when they support Ms Clinton but somehow acceptable when not supporting her?
And yes, when one speaks of opportunism, I always hear Ms Clinton's name invoked. Yet she honored her pledge to New Yorkers and served her first term not trying to run for other office. Mr Obama ran for greater office immediately.
Then too, when a woman speaks of her history which includes being a civil rights attorney and working for children's rights it is somehow dismissed while a man's career doing something similar is considered relevant. This kind of rhetoric can be offensive as it does reek of sexism and the old boy's club which seems to have remained in place in the political and news sphere for far too long.
Enough said for now
