Accurate Information to Inform Voters & Contributors
About the Author
What's Our Democratic Vision? This blog tries to provide accurate information to help voters and contributors make up their own minds. Hopefully it is one of many blogs that reduce reliance on advertising and biased campaign information.

The Republicans have been wrong about several key issues: war (Iraq), deregulation (which helped cause the current financial system crisis) and the environment (global warming). Time to vote Democratic.
Here's a link to the Palin Biden debate - in case you missed it Saturday night or just want to watch it again.

What do you think of this new website by respected business professor Jack Walters?

This YouTube video by Brave new PAC claims that McCain's ads are lies. How about watching it then posting a response below to let us know what you think?

Sorry, I forget how to make this a hyper link but you can just copy it and paste it in the address window of your Internet browser:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IH0xzsogzAk

or go to youtube.com and in the search window in the grey bar near the top of the page search for: ads lies

Brave New PAC has a petition you can sign to ask McCain to stop running the ad, and the video asks viewers to send it to their friends, so if you think the video is worth seeing, rate this post well so it will get into the highest rated posts for awhile, so more people will see it.

Thank you.

I followed this site in 2004 and liked it. It shows Obama likely winning, as well as Dems increasing their senate majority to about 55 seats, and about 60% of the house of representatives.

now Sarah Palin. In case they win, let's hope she doesn't turn out to be a "Daniella" Quayle! McCain's pick looks like an effort to get more of the women's vote from people who think it's more important to vote for a woman than a Democrat.

I don't agree with all this, and do respect some aspects of Republicanism such as pro-life and economic independence (to a point), but this is an amusing list that someone emailed me. Hope you enjoy it.

How to be a Republican.

To be a good Republican one needs to believe:

1. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.
2. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's Daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him, and a bad guy when Bush needed a 'we can't find Bin Laden' diversion.

Unitarians, in addition to being the recent victims of a fatal hate crime (church shooting in Tennessee), have had their books banned in prison according to Philocrates.com:

Today's New York Times follows up on a story two weeks ago about the federal Bureau of Prisons' purge of all religious books not on an undisclosed approved list called the "Standardized Prison Chapel Project." The online version of today's story includes links to the lists of approved books. Unsurprisingly perhaps, Unitarian Universalism is not one of the "20 religions or religious categories" that prison chapel libraries may contain books about. In other words, no book explicitly about Unitarian Universalism is currently allowed on federal prison bookshelves.

Two Unitarians were killed and six wounded by a man named Adkisson. According to KnoxNews.com:

Adkisson targeted the church, [Police Officer Steve] Still wrote in the document obtained by WBIR-TV, Channel 10, "because of its liberal teachings and his belief that all liberals should be killed because they were ruining the country, and that he felt that the Democrats had tied his country's hands in the war on terror and they had ruined every institution in America with the aid of media outlets."

Adkisson told Still that "he could not get to the leaders of the liberal movement that he would then target those that had voted them in to office."

The Unitarians ran a letter (as an ad)in the New York Times in response to the tragedy: http://www.uua.org/documents/stew-dev/knoxville_ad.pdf
Unitarian Universalists (UU's) recently once again became victims of a hate crime. In late July Unitarian church members were shot (2 killed, six wounded) in Tennessee by a man who apparently hated the liberal movement. A Unitarian minister was killed in 1965 in Selma, Alabama protesting treatment of civil rights advocates. For more info. visit http://blogs.timesunion.com/trumbore/?p=195#comment-4355 .
According to the Washington Post, a man who violently opposes liberalism killed two and wounded six in a Unitarian congregation in Tennessee on Sun 7/27/08. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/08/01/AR2008080103082.html

Sadly, this is not the first time that Unitarians have paid with their lives for opposing injustice. UU Minister James Reeb was killed in 1965 in Selma, Alabama while there protesting police violence against civil rights advocates.

Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote a eulogy for Reeb.

Antiwar, universal healthcare. He has no shot at winning the presidency but he has some good ideas.
Here's what ABC News says about him.
What would honest Abe think of today's Republican party? Here's a letter (scroll down to #4) supposedly written by Lincoln. If you prefer, the letter is in the extended part of this post.   Read More »
