The stand down of Congress this week on Bush's plans to start trouble with Iran to gain momentum on maybe slowing down troop escalations in Iraq is the last straw with me. Instead of trying to stop both it's now a one or the other situation. This just isn't good enough. We need to put an end to these travesties of justice. We are murdering people in the name of the United States for NO REASON.

$2.10 increase over two years is ridiculous and a slap in the face to the working people of this country. This just further shows how out of touch our elected officials truly are.
Would you like to try and raise a family on $15,080.00 before taxes a year?
How about tying the national minimum wage in with Congressional pay raises.
If the Congress wants more money they would have to raise the minimum wage with an equal percentage increase to their own purse linings.
Another option would be to in act some sort of annual adjusted minimum wage based on cost of living and inflation.
This last option could help prevent Congress from forgetting about the working people they supposedly represent for a decade. This would force them to have to take a look at reality and what everyday people are forced to live on, on an annual basis. Instead of maybe getting around to it every 10 years or so.
I won't even start on an equal paid vacation time request that our representatives enjoy.

Hmm watching C-Span this morning seems Nancy passed off her duties to someone else, nice job there. Then it seemed like the first piece of legislation they talked about was pay raises for federal judges. What a way to start the day.
Great way to continue the day by paying more lip service to Gerald Ford in the house. Wasn't all last weeks coverage enough?
I guess there must be a luncheon somewhere to sell democracy bonds.

Will hawking "democracy bonds" really help improve our party and our country? I'm guessing money=power is behind this last email campaign from Mr.Dean.
What ever happened to people going into politics to help and represent their fellow man? I guess somewhere along the line it became less about statesmanship and more about being electable.
Well here's my tip on being electable, and well the price is right. (read free) So here goes.
Do what you say you are going to do. If you say you are going to raise the minimum wage. Do it. Don't try and raise money so you can do more press conferences or put on another banquet and talk about how great it is your side got elected. Raise the freaking minimum wage.
I didn't vote democratic in the last election so that the party could begin to retool it's fund raising strategy.
I didn't vote democratic in the last election so that everyone could get that fuzzy feeling from electing the first woman speaker (which is awesome by the way and does give me a warm fuzzy feeling).
I voted democratic in the last election so that our 1 party government could actually start to have some checks and balances.
I voted democratic so that WE THE PEOPLE could have at least an iota of opposition to our corrupt elected officials that do nothing but wash each others backs and slap each others wrists.
