Calls for Hillary to get out of the race make no sense to me. Obama can focus on McCain without Hillary getting out of the race. I am slow to understand how this prevents Obama from continuing his quest for the White House. His campaign does not need to have Hillary out in order for him to focus on McCain. If his campaign is so vunerable, we have a much bigger problem.
Replacement Obama Pastor Just As Controversial As Wright

Barack Obama has finally distanced himself from Rev. Jeremiah Wright after a 20-year relationship, but the pastor who is replacing Wright at Chicagos Trinity United Church of Christ is likely to be just as controversial.

New Trinity pastor Otis Moss has called Biblical patriarch Abraham a pimp and made other statements many would consider offensive.

After Obama called Wrights comments divisive and destructive, a questioner noted that Rev. Moss has defended Wright and asked if Obama would continue attending the church.

Well, the new pastor, the young pastor, Reverend Otis Moss, is a wonderful young pastor, Obama responded. And as I said, I still very much value the Trinity community.

Moss, the 37-year-old hip-hop pastor, as hes called by congregants, will become head of Trinity in June, after serving as an assistant pastor there for two years.
But a videotape of a sermon he delivered at Wrights church shows this wonderful young pastor referring to ghetto prophets and thug theology, calling the late rapper Tupac Shakur a prophet, and reciting at length lyrics to Shakurs song Thugz Mansion.

See Pastor Moss making these remarks â" Click Here Now.
Moss also states in the sermon:
Jesus has a soft spot for thugs.

God is always using thugs to do Gods work.

Everyone has a little bit of thug in them.

Noah was a thug who was drinking much gin and juice and got drunk on the eve of reconstruction.
Abraham pimped his own wife.
Jacob was a hustler who stole his own brothers birthright.
Moses was a thug and if he got mad would give you a royal beatdown.
Sampson was a thug and a player.
David was a thug, a shot caller, and a player, and a man after Gods own heart.
Jesus is on the cross being lynched between two thugs. The moment of execution, the moment of murder, Jesus, the son of God, is hanging out with thugs.

In an interview last month with National Public Radio, Moss refused to distance himself from claims by Wright that the U.S. government was involved in distributing illegal drugs to minorities.

He said: I think we need to be very, very honest in terms of that our government has the ability to place a Hubble Telescope in the sky but yet we havent had the political will to shut down drugs coming into our community. And from that perspective I think thats something we can look at in terms of policy.

In his Easter sermon, Moss said Wright was lynched by the international media, and compared Wright to Jesus.

In a Trinity church newsletter, Moss maintained that American entertainment companies operate with contempt for the black community, according to World Net Daily.

He wrote: Currently, there are eight companies controlling 90 percent of everything we hear, read, watch on television or view in the movie theater. These companies operate with contempt and disdain for the black community.

Moss has also referred to blacks as lepers with a skin disease.

According to the Democratic North Carolina poll by Survey USA:

In North Carolina, Clinton Closes To Within 5 Of Obama: In a Democratic Primary in North Carolina today, 04/29/08, one week till votes are counted, the 10-point lead that Barack Obama has had for two months is halved, to now 5 points, Obama 49%, Clinton 44%, according to SurveyUSA's 7th tracking poll, conducted exclusively for WTVD-TV Raleigh. In SurveyUSA last four polls, over the past two months, Obama has led by 10, 8, 10, and 9 points. Today: 5. White voters are key. Since January, Clinton had led among Carolina whites by 14, 19, 17, 22 and 23 points. But today, suddenly: 31. In the Research Triangle, Clinton is up 9 points, week-on-week; Obama is down 3; a net swing of 12 points to Clinton. Among unaffiliated voters, Clinton has overtaken Obama for the first time in 2008, though the difference is small and within the sub-group's margin of sampling error. The two tie among Moderates. Obama leads slightly among Liberals. Clinton leads slightly among Conservatives. There is enough cross-current in the political waters that SurveyUSA's final pre-Primary poll, next week, may show more movement -- though in which direction it is impossible to know.
The below information is from a blog on Politico regarding Capps endorsement. It does bring an interesting point about a few weeks ago BO was saying how devoted he was to Wright and how he uses him to stay grounded. When BO is called out by his pastor, suddenly he is a crank and BO is outraged by the same comments many of us were outraged weeks earlier by. It does raise a point of political posturing and how Obama uses his judgement. He has said he uses Wright as his sounding board. That indicates that Wright knows him and they are connected. Just read it and keep an open mind. How vunerable is BO by this episode and how can he match up against McCain?

Blog from Politico.
That is the hilarious part of all this- he cant lose with the huge delegate lead he has. As is detailed once again in the Chicago Tribune; OBAMA- REMEMBER THIS QUOTE??????????? It was just last year that Obama was telling the Chicago Tribune that Wright was his sounding board for truth: "What I value most about Pastor Wright is not his day-to-day political advice. He's much more of a sounding board for me to make sure that I am speaking as truthfully about what I believe as possible and that I'm not losing myself in some of the hype and hoopla and stress that's involved in national politics." It was just this March, in his Philadelphia racial reconciliation speech, that Obama was urging us not to dismiss Wright as a "crank or a demagogue" and protesting that he could "no more disown him than I can disown the black community."
Yesterday, I sent out an email to all of my friends trying to raise just a $100 in $5 donations. I am glad to say that was an easy task and I challenge all of you to do the same. She needs donations to stay in this and she has a fighting chance to win this thing. I encourage all you who support her to take the challenge and see what we can do to support her. Every time someone asks me to do something, I say, for a $5 donation to Hillary. Every little bit helps. I am a supporter and would like nothing more than to see her in the White House. She needs everyone to rally and reach out to networks in NC and IN.
Here is a post I recieved this morning from Obama's campaign. My question is this: He has in excess of 42 million dollars, what is he doing with all of the money and why can't he win with all his funds available? This is troublesome that he loses by 10 pts and now needs more money from me. He couldn't take PA and he outspent Clinton by 3-1 and possibly more than that. He has all of these new supporters and new money and yet he isn't knocking her out. Does anyone find this troubling for us or am I just being chicken little? We have a candidate that is a head and can't win and we have another one who the people refuse to push to the sidelines.

Friend --

Votes are still being counted in Pennsylvania, but one thing is already clear.

In a state where we trailed by more than 25 points just a couple weeks ago, you helped close the gap to a slimmer margin than most thought possible.

Thanks to your support, with just 9 contests remaining, we've won more delegates, more votes, and twice as many contests.

We hold a commanding position, but there are two crucial contests coming up -- voters will head to the polls in North Carolina and Indiana in exactly two weeks. And we're already building our organization in the other remaining states.

But it's clear the attacks are going to continue, and we're going to continue fighting a two-front battle against John McCain and Hillary Clinton.

I need your support right now. Please make a donation.
With PA firmly in the win column it is time to look ahead and find the energy to continue our support for Hillary. As supporters of her we need to think through actions to take to put IN and NC in the same column. IN is a tight race but it is important to realize we have to work to drive down Obama's lead in NC. It is time to make calls, donate, and encourage supporters to join in and work to win. We must bring down the lead in NC. Contact everyone you know in both states and continue our support over the next couple of weeks to put her in the White House. We are edging closer and closer. Search your minds and hearts to come up with ways to support her in the next two primaries. She is our candidate and tonight went a long way to show how much support she has. The fight isn't over but we are getting closer each week. What a great night and a great victory. She is our fighter and we have to put all our energy into winning the next few primaries.
Hillary supporters....Try to make a minimum of 25 calls today to get out the vote in PA. A double digit win would quiet the nay sayers and boost momentum for the next primaries. 25 calls is just over 30 minutes of your time. Every person can make a difference. The website makes it really easy to make the calls.
It is not too soon to start helping with the next two states. Hillary needs to have a good showing in NC and win IN. Request any help you can. I used my Facebook and have gotten a good response from people on supporting her. Use your networks and continue to help make calls to support her. Fundraise if you can. Making calls really helps and it keeps energizing supporters. Get involved and make a little effort each day for the next two weeks. Reach out to anyone you know in these states to get support. It is our time to win and every effort will make a difference. Hillary for President.
Barney Frank is calling for the trailing democrat to get out of the race. I see a pattern that everytime Obama makes a misstep, they call for Hillary to get out of the race. I guess that is one way to ensure he is the nominee. If Obama is to be the nominee, why does others insist she leave the race. Voting is a choice. If the public is choosing to keep her alive in the race, that should say something to the calls for her to get out. Obama can end this by winning. He could have won in TX and OH but he didn't. Again, he is outspending and is still behind in the polls. People need to look at that and ask why is he having such difficulty getting the nomination in his own party. That can be said about Hillary too. You don't call for someone to get out of the race because they are making it hard for you to win. You get them out of the race by winning by a landslide. The indecision of the democrats shows we are not set on Obama. I guess not only small town people have trouble voting for him. Maybe all of us are bitter and clinging to our guns, religion, anti-immigration and antipathy. I bet it is because we don't like people that aren't like us. He spits in the face of those supporting him and he wonders why he can't close the deal. I'm not sure he got his money's worth at Harvard if he can't see why things happen. Cause and affect. He shot his mouth off and it is affecting the way people vote.
Listening to Obama try to recover from his latest gaffe is painful and annoying. He has gone from silent to regretful to sarcastic and now to mocking. Maybe he should go on vacation like he did the last time or at the very least just shut up. Apologize if that is in his ability. This is why I think people are eager to see him as an elitest. His arrogant mannerisms are getting the better of him and now he is the one that thinks he is owed the nomination. He made a mistake or he got caught pandering to a closed audience. He can no longer say he is a different kind of politician and in his recovery effort he is sinking deeper. To top things off, Rev Wright has decided to attack Fox News as if that will help. That is almost as bad as Bill trying to help Hillary. When someone is sinking, don't throw an anchor, Rev Wright should blend into the background until more time as passed. If Obama could admit that he made a mistake, everyone would move on. Once again he defends his gaffe as if he only speaketh the truth and no one else ever does. I think Obama really thinks he is now entitled to the nomination and his bitterness that he hasn't put it away is starting to show. He only does well when he is winning. When he's losing what should have been finished, he is getting flustered. Somebody tell him to shut up and stop trying to justify what could be a big gaffe. He may not realize but yelling that he is right is not getting through. This is prime fall material and each election they try to paint dems as elitest. The more he keeps talking about it the longer it stays alive.
This is a tight race and Hillary needs all the support she can get. Go to her website and make calls for her or rally support and fundraising in your networks. Winning PA, NC, and IN would be a great success. Obama is throwing all the money he can into PA and NC. He is out spending 5-1. Now is the time to show support. Donate what you can and make calls when you can. Supporting Hillary is more than just talking about it. Put your support in to action for her. Every little thing you do will count.
I have listened throughout the campaign to MSNBC present news story after news story that condemn the Clintons for everything from the charities they work on to personality traits. I gave up watching MSNBC and recently, when channel surfing saw Tim Russert devoting an entire show to Clinton bashing. I have written the network in the past to voice my complaints and now I am asking anyone else who agrees to do the same. This type of bashing regardless of the candidate is exactly what is wrong with our country. MSNBC devotes itself to presenting information that is slanted towards their own agendas. I realize that news is always somewhat slanted but this is ridiculous. Please help me gain support to boycott the MSNBC channels and to contact their sponsors to voice concerns.
To this point Obama has led a charmed life and campaign history. How does he do in times of adversity? How would he be doing if he didn't have ample money to flood areas with? I am also impressed with candidates like McCain and Clinton who win in spite of having the money to buy the market. How is it that in spite of outspending Clinton 4-1 in Ohio and Texas, Obama couldn't end this? Now I see he's spending 5-1 in PA and NC. I know the race still leans towards Clinton in PA. I question his ability to close the deal when in spite of everything his opponent is dealing with, he still can't knock her out. If he is an overwhelming nominee, why can't he put this race to an end.
After a long week about race talk and reviewing what has been said, implied, or inferred, I have concluded a few things of mine own:

Where was Barack Obama in South Carolina when the comment about Jesse Jackson was ruining Bill Clinton's history with Africian Americans? Bill Clinton's comment, whether offensive to all or not started inferring Bill Clinton made some demeaning reference about black people. Personally, I did not see it but I am not claiming that others did not. Barack Obama's campaign was sending internal memos to continue pushing the story. Tim Russert of all people asked him about it during one of the early debates and his comment was he regretted that and it should not have happened. I think a uniter might have stepped in and tried to squash the story instead use it to divide. Getting elected is in important and end may justify means. He was publicly silent and privately sending memos. I'm not sure how they is a different kind of politics.

Race has been in the background of this campaign since the beginning and I believe Barack Obama has benefited from it when he could as evidence in South Carolina.

When the story broke about Reverend Wright and his terribly offensive comments which trump anything I have heard, Barack Obama sat for several days to see if it would blow over. Only when it was clear the story was not going to go away, did he make a speech. The speech memorable/historic or not, opinions vary on this, asked us to rise above race. Barack Obama stated he understood the resentment from both sides but to get past it and not turn this into a circus. In short, let's stay on message and deal with our country's serious issues.

He likened things to this is the way it is and the way people think. All of which is true to some degree or another. He follows up with a example of his grandmother and explanation of why he cannot disown the Reverend. He doesn't explain 20 years of attendance or reasoning for making the Reverend an advisor. He doesn't explain how he wants to be a uniter and supporting someone who encourages white against black relates to uniting people. He simply and eliquentently offers that he understands it and he, himself has listened by his own family to things that made him cringe.

He follows up the next day and makes a statement about typical white people. He wants us to relax and not be so thin skinned about things. He misspoke and meant something else. He wants us to get past race when it doesn't benefit his campaign. He was fine with inferring Hillary and Bill Clinton made racist comments. His campaign encouraged the story and fed it to the media. He thinks we are too sensitive when he makes comments about "typical white people". People are sensitive. All the more reason to not support a man who preaches such terrible things and pits white against black. Knowing its a sensitive subject, how can you support the teachings in principle? Knowing you are in politics, how can attending be a good idea?

This morning his campaign releases a picture from 10 years ago of an occasion the reverend was invited to the white house by Bill Clinton with many other reverends and they aren't even looking at each other. His campaign manager goes on MSNBC to say what a hipocrit Bill Clinton is for knowing this man. Two things jump out at me: Different kind of candidate and different type of politician???? and the picture and what the Reverend preaches are not quite the same thing.

I see a very ambitious man, brilliant and well spoken but running as a uniter. Running on his judgement to know better. I want him to explain how supporting and benefiting from a man that preaches hate and divides white and black, unites people. I know we don't all agree with sermons or everything ministers say. This doesn't seem to be one sermon but several in a series and it does seem to aim at finding fault with another race not a person but how white people have mistreated black people. The reverend seems to hold the opinion, right or wrong, whites are still mistreating blacks. I am sure they are and have and vice versa. My question: How does teaching that unite?

I would love our country to be united. What I am now concerned about is the candidate running and he is dividing our party and our country to win an election. I know the stance about this is a conversation our country needs to have. That may be true but making one speech about it will not resolve this. Race is complicated and brings with it deep feelings on both sides or every side. To open the can of worms and say we need to talk about it doesn't resolve anything. People have strong feelings about this issue. I question a man who is willing to divide like this to win. I look at Bill Clinton who most called the "First Black President" and I look at how the Obama campaign has taken his work and history and turned it for his benefit. That concerns me. I know everyone says Hillary will do anything to win. She probably would. I am concerned where our party will be after the nomination race.

I think Barack Obama opened a can of worms that will work against him, not that he didn't have to after the videos came out but this issue/topic will hurt him/us in a general against McCain. Reverend Wright will only hurt him down the road. I further fear he has divided our party on yet another fraction as if if wasn't going in a bad direction to begin with.
Throughout the campaign, I have listened as Barack Obama claimed 2 things: Words matter and he exercises good judgement. I listened to his speech as he questioned our focus on race and how that should not be our focus or distraction. I keep coming back to where was his judgement in evaluating the statements Reverend Wright was making and how could they be good for a united country or church? How can continued witness / exposure to sermons of such nature be good for anyone? I certainly understand hearing things to be aware and certain exposure. Afterall, I watch FOX news just to hear what they are saying. I understand all of that but my concern is; to make him part of your campaign or counsel is questionable to me. His association with Rezko is again puzzling to me of a candidate and his beliefs. He speaks of uniting America and yet attends a church that clearly is divisive and in sighting hate on more than one occasion. I know racism is prevalent in our society. I also know that to attend meetings where hatred of a race is not working to unite but attending in support of a belief. I can see attending to again see what the church represents. To know what Reverend Wright preaches and to make him an advisor is concerning. What did he think Reverend Wright would do for him in that capacity? His beliefs are concerning for many reasons but why would Barack Obama, an extremely well educated uniter have to gain by associating with a man of such harsh rhetoric. I am concerned about his judgement in the people he chooses to align himself with. I see that the media took snipits but there seems to be lots of snipits and to sell the videos will only insight hatred of our country and pit white against black. I would question the church's decision to sell such preachings. Every candidate has a closet. Hillary certain has issues. As I write, MSNBC/CNN/FOX is going over her schedule as first lady with a magnifying glass. I hope they find what they are looking for. I really hope they find that she is qualified, hard-working, and intelligent. I am sure they will let America know any snipit of questionable behavior. My point is had they been looking this hard at Barack Obama earlier and seeing just what his judgement was, perhaps we wouldn't be where we are and he would be ahead in the delegate count. My fear is he may be the Democratic nominee and he cannot win in the fall. I do not know that Hillary would win in the fall but I know that she has a fighting chance especially with the latest looks at Barack Obama's grand judgement.
I will not donate one dime to the DNC until the resolution of Florida and Michigan. This punishment decision and whomever determined the punishment for moving their primaries up clearly was done so without forethought or vision of how this could harm our general election race and results. We are 50 states and all 50 must count towards our nominee. I have lost confidence in our DNC leaders. Leaders should exercise vision and direction. In a situation where we were sure to take the white house back, it is now a situation where we are a joke to the nation and may not win in the fall. The democrats look confused, unorganized, and clouded in our ability to make good decisions. This is a disasterous event and will make history in that we are trying to exclude states. I see why people become independents or switch parties. Nice work Howard Dean. I thought your outcry when you ran for election would go down as your most memorable moment. You have now erased that as your biggest mistake.
The letter below I sent to the editor at MSNBC as well as all local papers and some national papers. I would ask all of you if possible to do the same. The news coverage needs to be fair and equal so the public can make good decisions about candidates.
Dear Sir,
I am concerned that your news station is very slanted in its coverage of news. I saw last night on CNN about McCain's error in saying Iran was training terrorist (al Quaida) when in fact that is their enemy and its extremist they are training in Iran. I saw another senator correct him. I would assume that is news compared to Clinton's schedule or at least as news worthy. I flipped back and forth to see if I could catch it. I did not and have not seen a mention of it. I would think that may impact his foreign policy standing and so I see why you may have buried it. I have seen numerous reports on what the you will be looking for in Clinton's schedule to confirm her experience. I applaud that dedication to finding the truth but I am disappointed that you only work that hard trying to discredit one candidate. I also saw on FOX news about Rev. Wright and Obama's association with a so-called ex-terrorist. Again, lots of effort to focus on one candidate. I will say, you know what to expect from FOX. MSNBC has become an extension of FOX in their bias of news. I would hope that you are working hard trying to see if Obama and McCain are qualified to be President and if McCain has released his taxes. I read about more money being donated by Rezko and would hope you are diligently looking into that to see where the truth lies. I guess the schedule and reviewing it must take a lot of time. Wouldn't the better story be to actually find something before you broadcast its a story. Again, not sure why the focus on one candidate. This is disturbing to say the least when you can only count on local news to get the news in an objective format. I realize cable news is very competitive but standards should not be compromised for ratings or bias. I stayed away from MSNBC for a month the last time I saw this and wrote letters to sponsors to complain. My next step will be to contact all sponsors I see on your network and attempt to get friends, family, and supporters to do the same.

I am sure this is a small sampling of your audience. I hope sponsors feel differently. Thank God for the internet where you can reach thousands with a click. Again, a very small sampling. It won't make a difference but I will be as creative as possible and make it as easy as I can for others to contact sponsors to complain about your coverage. I think this is a common feeling just like with FOX news.

I am certain this letter will never get beyond some intern but I will save it and post it to my blog and send it to all papers I can. Maybe I will get lucky and some other editor will run it.
