My opinions, thoughts, and ramblings. I don't mince words - you'll find that out!

As you drive around Moore County, you see them - sporadically, because he's never taken us very seriously - " but they're there all the same. The signs: Our Congressman: Howard Coble.

But whose Congressman is he?

It was the proverbial dark and stormy night, but spirits were high, the food was the best that the Democratic Women of Moore County can provide (and that's saying something. I'll put J.H's pound cake up against anyone's in the state), and anticipation filled the air. A group of about 25 of us had gathered to meet with Rory Blakelink, candidate for US Congress, NC-06. Dr. Abraham Oudeh, link candidate for NC Senate in District 52 was on hand as well, and as the we settled into our chairs, he told us, "I smell Victory!" With that he introduced Rory Blake. Originally written in the summer of 1996, just after the Democratic Convention.

It was the summer of 1968. I was poised on the threshold of the fourth grade. It was exciting - I was no longer a “little” kid. My father said that I was “8 years old, going on 40.” Perhaps because of this he decided I was old enough to watch the Democratic Convention with him. That was an exciting convention, but I don’t remember any of the speeches. I really don’t remember any of the rioting that marred and interrupted that convention. One of the most important rights that our Constitution guarantees us is habeus corpus, literally "to have the body". It guarantees that individuals will not be imprisoned indefinitely without being charged without evidence of a crime being presented in a court, and without charges being filed. The Supreme Court has "recognized the fact that the writ of habeas corpus is the fundamental instrument for safeguarding individual freedom against arbitrary and lawless state action.' Harris v. Nelson, 394 U.S. 286, 290-91 (1969)."

But today, in another giant step towards limiting freedom, the House of Representatives voted to pass HR6166 by a margin of 253 Ayes to 168 Noes. As expected, most of the votes were along party lines. Of course Howard Coble followed his Republican masters, and voted to take another chunk out of the Constitution, piss on the graves of the founding fathers, and think that he can sit fat and pretty in his office in Greensboro for another 20 years.

But Democrats in NC District 6 are energized and ready to send Howard off into happy retirement. Rory Blake will represent the interests of all his constituents, and would never vote to neuter the Constitution.

Support Rory Blake on November 7.
