Nope. His reading of the bible is accurate. A terrible book to reference if you're trying to prove a point. Slavery IS okay by ALL biblical standards. Women MUST keep their hair covered in the Church. And, a man angry with his brother is AS GUILTY BEFORE GOD as a man who commits MURDER. Read it and weep. The only way it makes RATIONAL sense is if you throw half of it out, and polish up the rest. It's ALL ABOUT FAITH, because interpretation will do you in EVERY TIME. It's the "right-wingers" who are out on the skinny limb this time. They've been making up sh*t for years that serves their self-righteous coffers. Took us to war with it the past seven years.

Give credit where it is due, and assign blame where it belongs. Barack's church may have had a bit of stink to it, but his bible reading is just fine.

Halleluja!

Obama 08!

who's the fruitcake?

I was unaware that Dobson was an expert on the constitution. The fact that he makes this accusation against an expert on the constitution is laughable, just like his brand of "christianity".

What is really sad.

I don't often like interacting with Christians, and a lot of it stems from this stuff. The Christian right may be advancing their goals politically, but they are creating a ever growing secular backlash. Good Christians should be more inclusive. Is it any wonder why most people in this country don't go to church?
There y'go again

There ARE NO GOOD CHRISTIANS. Christians by definition are FORGIVEN for their relentless sinning, they are otherwise deplorable before GOD. Which does nothing for their presentation before other PEOPLE. The right-wingers have bamboozled us for decades. The last being some of the worst distortion ever perpetrated.

God Bless.

Hey, I'm not going to get into theological views here. I just know what I see. Many issues I believe would help most people are disagreed with on religious lines. I am called immoral far too often, to not feel some animosity.

When you study the word
By Maggie B. Jun 24th 2008 at 3:24 pm EDT
you know when what someone speaking is right or wrong. Believers who have accepted Christ are forgiven of sins. If you haven't confessed you are not a part of the body of Christ but you can become a part. I studied this book from 9-2002 to 3-2003 and read it through completely and it changed my life permanently. Now I study it to grow more knowlegable. This was the best thing I ever did in my life.

Dobson is a disgrace
By D. Tree Jun 24th 2008 at 3:41 pm EDT
This is the guy who thinks Sponge Bob Square Pants is part of a "gay agenda" conspiracy to turn all our children gay!

This is the guy who thinks a woman's place is in the kitchen and in the home raising the kids while the man goes for a career.

This is the guy who advocated beating your children as the only way to parent.

Yes it must really rub Dobson the wrong way to see so many people of faith identifying with Barack Obama and his nice family and progressive values.

It must *really* irk this man that Barack Obama actually reached out to his organization for a dialog!

In fact, my guess is that the only reason James Dobson came out with this statement is that his is AFRAID, very AFRAID, of losing his flock to a more progressive and intelligent person than himself.

oh my word! No kidding, Tree.

Do you remember the Family Values score card that the Dobson outfit gave out to elected officials?

LOL turns out that a great deal of them who were ranked highly on those scorecard were people like Craig and Foley and others who turned out to be liars and pedophiles.

LOL, that's right - in fact I'm willing to bet that most of those working to instill discrimination against GLBT in the laws are closeted themselves.... Shakespeare comes to mind "Me thinks thou doth protest too much Mr. Dobson!"

:-D

I agree
By Sue Sue's Straight Talk Express Jun 24th 2008 at 4:53 pm EDT
I agreed with Obama and I agree with you.

You know I argue all the time with some evangelicals but it is true that God in the Bible did not put a weight on sin. Meaning that is more sinful to kill than it is to lie. Nope, in the Bible a sin is a sin is a sin.

So while some evangelicals are preaching hate against homosexuals, they then with the same mouth want to turn around and preach love and foregiveness with that same mouth.

Obama was right when he said so tell me constitutionally which part I am to apply. Dobson and company are the most frustrating group. I used to listen to him all the time but I just got tired of being brought down.

UGH!

Sermon on the Mount
By Sue Sue's Straight Talk Express Jun 24th 2008 at 5:04 pm EDT
The Sunday before the 2004 election, our priest read the Sermon on the Mount. He said, this pretty much sums up what our duty to ourselves and our fellow man is. He then said, vote for the canidate that can best help you acheive these goals!
